    @Pessimippopotamus: If you are implying that racism is still around, sir, then you are very wrong. The President chased it all away and now we don't have to worry about it anymore.

    The rowdy group of "white nationalists" over there? Not racism. They're... um... planting some flowers with that nice young black man.

    And using lots of fire and rope.

    And see, that's the wrong way to do it. The fire's gonna burn right through the rope and the azaleas will esca-- why are they tying their black friend to that tree? #skywalkers

    Friends with you have used that character quite often. He's called malfi. Its a big black blob with a smiley face. I've never seen it referred to a raciest in the past. #skywalkers

    @tande04: The one with the non-X'ed eyes is the spitting image of the "Little Black Sambo" character from the turn of the 20th century. Both the eyes and the smiley "lips" are almost identical. #skywalkers

    Its taking it of context though. What's a clown going to look like on a black amorphous blob?

    There is lots of racism in our world. No doubt. There is lots of precieved racism where there is none as well. Thats the case here.

    Apparently you look at it and see racism. I look at it and see a character from a long line of designer toys that has its own back story and multiple variations with different faces, colors, etc. The artists' style for that one may resemble something racist but the work taken as a whole to get there does not.

    If it was white with multiple colored dots over its blob like body no one would bat an eye. The fact that they also have a black one and that's one design they chose for this balloon doesn't change my not batting an eye. #skywalkers

    @tande04: Well I applaud your ability to impose your own cultural semiotics onto it. Personally I don't see it as racism per se-- I was being more than a little tongue in cheek earlier-- just as a somewhat distasteful reminder of embarrassing historical stereotypes and representations. That sort of image seems just a little too iconic (in the negative sense, obviously) for me to be able to embrace wholeheartedly. I'm not offended by it, just a wee bit perturbed. #skywalkers
