The really depressing thing? I still haven't seen this yet. I will own the BluRay BEFORE it comes out at the cinema here in New Zealand (August). What were they thinking? =/
Surely with all that extra space on the BRD they could edit the two movies together into a seamless whole? That'd be way cooler. As with most film series, I'm got buying the DVDs/BRDs until the whole series is done, so I don't end up going "Aww, they brought out an extra-deluxe ultimate special edition director's cut boxed set..."
And he shows you how he got it all wrong from the moment he began planning it. There's no point in showing the demise of The Comedian in such detail. Alan Moore knew that and Dave Gibbons knew that. Zack Synder doesn't know that because he knows so little about actual storytelling. He doesn't understand it doesn't serve the story in any way to show it in this detail. All it did was tack on more running time.
I honestly still don't know if I actually liked Watchmen or not. For every positive thing I can think of, there's an equal negative thing to balance it all at zero - what this means and the ultimate answer to my own question may haunt me till I draw my last breath. Wel, that and whether if that hitchhiker deserved to die like he did... But that's neither here nor there.
Anyway!
That being said, the footage of Snyder going through the creation of the movie had me more interested than actually watching the movie proper. It might be enough to earn my cash.
I have more of a 80/20 feeling towards the film, where I enjoyed 80% of it, an didn't need the other 20 to be perfection to justify my enjoyment.
I find the complaints about this film similar to the people who ranted about Tom Bombadil not being in Jackson's LOTR.
I also know at some point on a Saturday, when I am cleaning the house. I will play this insanely long version of the film, complete with Snyder yacking up a storm.
Based on the comments whenever a Watchmen item pops up leads me to believe that I'm the only person on this site who actually liked Snyder's adaptation.
The thing about Synder's film is that I would have been severely disappointed if he hadn't been so OCD about it. The best part about the novel was the attention to detail (read Watching the Watchmen anyone?) and to have a director who respected those ideas and moments was spectacular.
Comic-Con is releasing more tickets for the con on their twitter account. Last night they gave out a two pairs of tickets for each day as well as a pair of 4-day passes.
The common thread between Remans and Xindi is that they both sucked hard.
I can't believe Trek went back to Romulan villains after that awful movie "Nemesis". What do people see in Romulans? They're like a cross between Vulcans and Klingons, minus the coolest stuff in both races.
Then again, the new Trek also copied Nemesis' dune buggy race when li'l Kirk drove that Corvette off the cliff. I'm really not sure which movie was worse.
@Twisk: Okay, I don't think the filmmakers (intentionally) COPIED the dune buggy chase from Nemesis- I just think the producers of both movies put a car chase in both Star Trek movies in an all-too desperate attempt to appeal to younger and dumber moviegoers. They had the same goals, and the results (onscreen, if not at the box office) were the same- a silly, anachronistic scene which didn't add anything to the story.
@John Hazard: I don't feel the car chase in the new movie was geared at getting a younger/dumber audience. I felt it was establishing Kirk's character as being reckless and bucking authority from a young age. As show by his stealing and racing a corvette.
I know. Character development. It can be hard to understand.

So, wait? Does the US release not contain the 3-D version of the film?

Seriously didn't this use to be the realm of collectors editions' DVDs? More extras, blah.

Me me me! I liked it!
And I even thought it could have been more campy.

If that is a sign of comic con's increasing popularity, next year is going to be packed tighter than a Japanese Rail Train.

Hang on, you thought lil' Kirk driving a car in a straight line was copying the dune buggy chase from Nemesis?
Was it also copying the other movies for having stars, in space? Oh, and space ships shooting? PEW PEW!

I love this kind of movie trivia.
