    I've loved the Bark-man since I was in high school. Most of his short stories would be good at least as half-hour shorts if not full-length films. I was even a fan of the travesty that was 'Nightbreed,' because all those mutants were just too cool. But my favorite Barker character has always been Harry D'Amour. Never mind that film with Scott Bakula as Harry--bad casting, in my opinion, but a semi-decent film even so--the character has huge potential for his own television series and a ton of films.

    Well, if it matches or exceeds the level of midnight meat train then i'll be happy.
    I'd always thought some of Clive Barker's stories could make good movies, but with the exception of hellraiser I never saw a good one and even that in retrospect had a few issues. Midnight meat train was an excellent little film, I thought, and if this is too, then well hell that's a trend ;)

    @cunning001: Oh, pray tell what was excellent about it? Cooper's awful performance? The bad CGI blood? Aside from Vinnie as Mahogany, the thing was a predictable slog.

    "The Book of Blood" was a shoffy little throw-away piece that Barker wrote as an introduction to the collections of his more substantial stories. Why the FUCK would anyone make a film of that? That's tantamount to filming the prologue to Weaveworld. Besides, Barker hasn't directed or written anything even *vaguely* worth a damn in over fifteen years.

    John Bergin, on the other hand, is a frickin' genius. His music is utterly incredible--spanning the bridge between goth dronescapes and extremely gloomy trip-hop. And best of all, you can have it all for free! Here's the link to his complete collection of music:

    Yeah, it's a MobileMe page, but who cares--his stuff's incredibly good and he's giving it away gratis to those who enjoy it! I highly suggest anyone new to Bergin to start with his C17H19NO3 material and move next to Tertium Non Data. Wow. It'll blow your gear-driven industrial minds out.

    @Pegritz: I think someone would use that "throw-away piece" in exactly the same way Barker did: as a frame to lead us to the other "more substantial stories." Just because they didn't pluralize the title (i.e. "Books of Blood") doesn't mean we won't get treated to at least some of the other stories contained therein. That's my take-away from this, anyway.

    I, for one, would love to see a brief snippet of "In the Hills, the Cities."

    @blatanville: from the IMDB page:

    Clive Barker is credited with --> short stories "On Jerusalem Street" and "The Book of Blood"

    ...so there you go.
