    I'm guessing he's carrying a H&K MP5 9mm submachinegun with an optical sight and integral suppressor.

    I've fired an MP5 on full-auto.

    Travis Chase, The Next Great Action Hero, could do better.

    @Chip Overclock: But it's a standard Hollywood weapon. Most people see it and know it's some kind of automatic weapon with cool gadgets on it. Whether it is actually the best weapon for the situation is irrelevant.

    @Ghost_in_the_Machine: True that.

    I like the MP5 models that only have a rear and fore grip and fit inside a special break-away briefcase. (It's the kind of thing the Secret Service would use.)

    @Chip Overclock: Even I, who own no boomsticks and know little about them, have fired a machine pistol full-auto.

    I don't think The Next Great Action Hero should shoot things that are usable by suburban housewives on a Saturday morning.

    I think this would make such an awesomely craptastic movie that I'm wishing this was a movie trailer. Although, if I wrote a book and someone showed me this as the book trailer, I think I'd shoot them...

    I love Coupland. I read Generation X when I was 18 and was fascinated. I read Microserfs earlier this year and I'm just finishing up Jpod. Microserfs was clearly his best novel, but I'm excited for his first "sci-fi" book.

    I love action hero names. Always have. Travis Chase, like John Cold, could never have been a florist.

    This looks fun:) Reminds of Basil Sands' work (65 Below is, literally, Northern Exposure meets 24 and is exactly that magnificent) and if it's as cheerfully crazy as Sands' stuff, it'll be great

I received no less than 25 paper cuts reading Moby Dick in the 10th grade!! You whipper snappers have it easy, I tell ya.

    Ron Perlman = Beorn.

    According to Jackson, nothing has actually changed and there is no delay to THE HOBBIT. Production was always going to start in mid-2010 with the movie coming out 18 months later. I must admit I'd always heard that filming was due to start in March 2010, but Jackson seems to be saying in all the latest interviews that this was never the case. Weird.

    90 years ago WW I had just ended. Imagine trying to predict modern Germany based on the breadlines and Freikorps of that era? And would you ever predict a second cataclysmic war, followed by the establishment of an ultra-liberal state? The Berlin Wall?

    In reply to The Lovely Bones: Hitchcock Meets Dali In Purgatory
    I can't read the review just because I don't want to be spoiled, but I have been watching Hitchcock films at a furious pace lately, so that has piqued my interest in this film. I would have seen it on DVD just because of Jackson but if it's really like a Hithcock film, that might convince me to see it in a theater. Was not aware Brian Eno was involved either.
