So FOX has not one - but TWO! - shows about the virtues of a comely young woman with no personality or free will of her own who exists to serve men?

This isn't really creepy so much as a step backwards.

Why do pics of half-neked chicks always engender such obvious comments from the peanut gallery?

(facepalm) never mind. I had higher hopes for the io9 crowd's comments though.

The focus of the article is sexuality. Honestly, aside from a few (respectful) comments everyone is talking about the show intelligently.

Get off the high horse, sir.

Wheadon's niche is his snark. So how will a "more grounded" show work for him? Even in Angel's more serious moments there was always an air of lightheartedness.

I really want this show to be good. Actually, I want it to not get canceled. So, Mr. Wheadon, prioritize not getting canceled and then make the show good.

so dollhouse hamhandedly fumbles with philosophical concepts shirow has already explored in greater nuance and vibrancy.

@Moff: no, just that retreading old ground is only useful if you add something of significance to the discussion.

@bioball: yes, the members of section 9 are more concerned with identity construction after modification/loss of physical being. the victims of the puppetmaster, however, are primarily concerned with identity construction after loss of personality. now dollhouse does add a slight twist by having it repeadily happen to the same person but the question of if that's of sufficent difference to be worth exploring is really up to the viewer. ultimately the 'creepy place' vibe the producers are desperatly trying to create in these and other promotional shots comes off as being very sterotypically 'creepy.'

@tetracycloide: Or, I would argue, if you present it to a new audience, even if that does mean simplifying it.

But anyway, I'm arguing the principle of the thing -- I haven't seen Dollhouse or Shirow, so it's probably best if I go back to looking at the pictures of Eliza Dushku. Yes, yes, it is definitely best.

The words "Sienna Miller" shut off any vestigial interest I might have had in the movie. Although, to be fair, she is commenting on the only thing that makes her even slightly interesting to the world at large -- not me personally, but apparently at least "gentlemen" named Balthazar.

PS: Having seen the yacht photos, I would say chicken cutlets were definitely used if she transcends a B cup.

PPS: And I'm sure Mrs. Getty is more than "mildly offended" by Miller's behaviour, but oh well. Perspective is such a fluid thing.

I can finally rest easier at night, knowing that Sienna Miller does not wear rubber norks in the G.I. Joe movie. But I'm still going to have to fall back on the old Internet staple...
