I've already watched the film too. It was pretty good. And though I'm not a major comic reader, hearing that oath uttered did spark something within. It's pretty strong stuff.
We picked up the DVD for Green Lantern First Flight earlier this week (I think it was Thursday) at a Wal Mart here in Ottawa. Had no idea they had it on the shelves a week early until a friend told us we shouldn't have been able to get it yet. :o)
Speaking as a huge, fickle lantern nerd....I frigging loved it. These cartoons are the closest thing to proper comic book movies that anyone will ever get(I'm looking at you hollywood). *Thinks about X-men Origins: Wolverine. Vomits.*
Nothing by Jeph Loeb should be reproduced in any way, shape or form. IMHO, the guy is not much better than most fanfic writers. Give me the the four issues of Grant Morrison's JLA run. Now that was some fun superhero stuff.
@projoe1979: Challenge - Batman: Long Halloween and Dark Victory were great. I guess you could argue for Spiderman: Blue, if you're into that sort of thing.
I'll never forgive Morrison for that JLA run. Ultramarines? Aztek? Anti-sun fueled Maggedon?
But that friggin' story was awful! Haven't they learned from Superman Doomsday that you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!?! Sigh. At least they followed the art style this time around.
@NotArthurPDragon: may not be the best story, but it makes sense. The plot line is contained, easily accessible, sits outside the standard canon. Perfect for a 90 minute animated feature. Stop thinking like a fan, and think more like a money-hungry corporate entity.
@DeepFriar: Make sense? How does it make sense that heroes like Power Girl or John Stewart believe Lex Luthor and blindly hunt Superman instead of trying to stop the Kryptonite asteroid about to fall on Earth?
That said, it was a fun story, I have it in trade, it's funny and it has some cool one-liners. In other words: perfect for an animated feature.
I've been craving a wonder woman movie ever since Joss said he was going to take a stab at it. Since he turned it down, let's see what someone else did - I'm going straight out to buy it based on this review! Of course, if it sucks (which, from your description I doubt it will) I'm completely blaming io9 and will be snarky and vengeful for a week. Possibly a month.

In every single thing he's been in, he's always depicted as doing these 2 things, in this order:
1) trying to absorb some sort of energy, and failing.
2) getting blown up.
Maybe he should just retire.
