    I think the people at AICN missed the parts of the movie where you cheered for Napolean and Pedro and Kip... even Uncle Rico at the end. To me, Napolean the movie showed that even in a microcosm of rural America, people who see the world from a different point of view can have major victories, no matter how small they seem to the rest of the world. #gentlemenbroncos

    Meanwhile, over at AICN another reviewer is complaining that the Nightmare on Elm Street remake doesn't have enough nudity. Different strokes for different folks, I guess, but another slab of woman-hating torture porn upsets me more than the "bully" variety. #gentlemenbroncos

    I have to point this out but I'm getting a little disturbed to see the word "porn" all over popular culture these days. Not that I'm against actual pornography, but it just seems weird to take a word like that and apply it to everything. Seems a bit crass to me. #gentlemenbroncos

    Seriously, "Bully Porn?" First, the political correct movement stifles words that make them wet themselves, and now this?

    All it really screams is "EEeeiiiiieee (shriek)! I don't like it because it pokes satirical fun at certain topics and people! And because I don't like it, I want to pan it so that everyone will view my opinion as popular for once!"

    The AICN and Entertainment Weekly can suck it!

    Yes, it's a rant within a reply, but the "political correct" machine has overly pacified society from where I'm sitting.

    A friend of mine once explained how Napoleon Dynamite comes across to people. If you were that type of person in high school, the one always picked on, you likely found the show hilarious. If you were the one doing the picking, then you likely found it to be stupid.

    I get the feeling that Gentleman Broncos is the same way. I shall have to now watch it to find out.

    @annaletha: What the panning critics also fail to see is that while we laugh, we also think for a moment about certain things.

    For example, what is really uncool about Pedro, other than he's an "out of towner" that is in a rural school system now. What supposedly makes the "cool kids" cool, when in reality, those were some of the people we laughed at, and "do we all have a little geekiness within ourselves?"

    That doesn't even tough the issue of a grown up that still holds onto former glory, Kip or what his now wife thinks of him. #gentlemenbroncos

    I find myself agreeing with the AICN (eek!) argument. Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre didn't feel like they were celebrating their weirdos, as much as turning them into living cartoons.

    Look at Kevin Smith or even Judd Apatow's taken on the nerdy. Both are more humane and go beneath the "look at him, he's weird and awkward" which seems to obsess the Hesse lot. Steve Carrell in the 40 year old Virgin was a more decent, well-rounded and gentle portrayal of an awkward man-child than I've ever seen in a movie. A decent guy who just lacked a certain skill set. Working in a comic shop as a teen I met tons of guys like that. Caricatures like Napoleon Dynamite or this sci-fi con stuff? Not so much. #gentlemenbroncos

    I'm glad that io9 is countering this pretty absurd and desperate claim, but I still kind of think that this is pandering. Putting lame meaningless labels like "bully porn" in your headlines may increase clicks, but it doesn't add anything useful to the discourse. Just another suffix turned to ether by hackneyed overuse. #gentlemenbroncos
