I remember I wanted, like, half of these (of the ones that existed in the late '80s and early to mid '90s), but mum would never buy them because she'd only buy cereal when it was on sale and if she had a coupon. :(

Actually, she still does that.

WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THE BILL & TED CEREAL?!

I'm pretty sure every box is past its sell by, use by, and expiration dates now. Who do I have to kill to get a time machine so I can stuff stuff related to stuff from my childhood into my time machine?

Maybe my grandfather? But he is dead already... better get a time machine. Let's see. How to get a time machine? I know! I'll need a fresh box of Bill & Ted cereal!

@dead_red_eyes: Those, unfortunately, were before my time. I either didn't exist yet or was too young to care.

I do, however, remember the Gremlins scaring the shit out of me when I was a kid.

I don't think C-3POs were that great (it's been a few years, so I can't remember if they were truly awful or just barely edible), but I do remember that the Batman cereal was downright horrible. The SW Ep2 cereal wasn't bad, nor was the Indiana Jones cereal, but neither was exactly a winner. If cereal companies want to keep doing this stuff, what they should learn to do is take a really successful cereal, like Lucky Charms, and remake all of the shapes so they are theme-appropriate. But don't come up with new untested recipes. They almost always taste vile.

@Purple Dave: I remember loving C-3POs, although they weren't especially sweet—they were mild and golden, not unlike Threepio himself. I know we went through a few boxes and I was very sad when they disappeared from the shelves.

E.T. cereal, on the other hand, was not worth $800 a box. Or 8¢ a box. That was some nasty shit, and the box it came in was enormous—at least as big as the big Cheerios boxes. Much weeping between my brother and me when Mom said we had to finish them before she'd buy anything else.
