I guess he never gets to apologize, since in the movie she is assigned to the USS Farragut during the Vulcan crisis, which was promptly wiped out by Nero. #startrek
@EBone:
Actually, the gal who plays her said in an interview for GI Joe (the other movie she was in this summer) that you never hear which ship she is assigned to, so she could have ended up on the Enterprise. #startrek
It's *possible* this wasn't just about racism. Maybe all white human females look like all other white human females to Kirk as well. Maybe it's a girl thing. heh. #startrek
@redqueenmeg: That is what I was thinking this says more about Kirk's womanizing than anything. I think that he has been with quite a few of the Orion women, and honestly mixed the two up. #startrek
@redqueenmeg: Yeah that actually was my first impression.... Kirk pays so little attention to the women that he easily mixes them up. The green thing is just coincidence. #startrek
@mosquitosBuzzz: @Jason D Sousley: I agree with both of you. I'm thinking perhaps that is why it was cut. Maybe it was put in just to highlight Kirk's womanizing but someone pointed out that the audience could easily take it as subtle racism, which I can understand.
It blurs the message of the scene either way since it could be either, so it's good it was dropped since its point didn't come across, whatever it was. #startrek
@redqueenmeg: Racist? Let's get blunt here: Kirk is the Barney Stinson of Starfleet. Wouldn't be the first man-ho of my acquaintance who isn't big on remembering faces. #startrek
@Craig Michael Ranapia: Well, I know that, and you know that, but I guess since they wanted to make this movie accessible to first-time fans, they probably thought this didn't add to the message. :) #startrek
Wow. Colour me shocked. I think that's the first time I've seen Diora Baird in anything without the focus being on her 'assests'. They didn't even use a long shot of the tight uniform.
to be alittle fair to kirk he was apologizing for his actions and not simply running off. but i can see why they removed it, cant risk making character too unlikable #startrek
@Sektos: Actually, to be fair to Kirk she does have the same hair as Gaila... I don't ever remember seeing a carrot-topped Orion before, much less two... #startrek
@TemporalSword: I've been resisting because the replica is the only addition over the standard 3 disc set. Thereby making this a nearly $70 pound of pewter that I don't really need.
It is cool though. #startrek
Either I'm getting really old or this thing called Kirk is barely post-adolescent. In the future boy-men will command starships? And hey, if that's charm, there's hope for all of the insincere cats out there with just enough left on the credit card to by a girl a drink. #startrek
@lazlopink: LOL, I totally agree. It's really weird to see such young actors taking over the franchise. It was even weirder when Superman Returns *continued* the story of Superman I & II, despite the fact that Lois suddenly looked 10 years younger than Margot Kidder did in the original.
That being said, I didn't really mind the new Kirk as much as I thought I would. His publicity photos made him out to be some sort of vacant-eyed Zoolander, but the first 40 minutes kind of sold me on the new cast.
I guess anything would be better than Star Trek: Nemesis, which *had* original cast members and did horrible things to them. #startrek
Weird, I read a lot about Diora Baird being an Orion woman, then when I saw the movie it was Rachel McNichols.. I wondered what happened.. I guess Diora didn't survive the cutting room.. #startrek

I pre-ordered the uber-special edition, cause I'm a huge spaceship porn guy and couldn't pass up the replica.
In other words, TemporalSword = Huge Nerd. #startrek
