...a terrible, impossible choice-to unravel the very fabric of the world, or to save it?

Really? How is that an "impossible choice?" You could either save the fabric of the world, and therefore countless existences...or not.

Oh yes, it's a terrible dilemma.

@Aidan_: The Chronopedon loomed above Dr. Brock Quinn, his jointed arms reaching out in all directions, fading in and out of reality where it pierced through the veil of this world like a fist plunged through rotting leather.
    -MAKE YOUR CHOICE MORTAL
Dr. Brock Quinn looked up at the creature of unimaginable hatred and sin.
-Um. Hmm. Well I don't know. What do you mean by 'save it'?
    -HUMAN MAKE YOUR CHOICE
-Well okay but 'save' it like... save it as it is? Can I save it in a better state? Maybe replenish the coral reefs a bit.
    -WHAT IS 'REEF'?
-Oh just a complex interchange between marine species and a certain kind of polyp-
    -SHUT UP!
    -What about ice cream?
-ICED CREAM? The creature's voice echoed through the distant corners of dying universes.
-Ice cream. Singular. If I save the world will there still be ice cream? I noticed it's pretty hot where we are now, I wanted to make sure you'd remember about ice cream.
-THE WORLD WILL BE IF YOU SAY... JUST... SAY!
-Oh everything but cherry. Can I save everything but cherry?
    -RRRRRR

    *WORLD DESTROYED*

I've loved the Bark-man since I was in high school. Most of his short stories would be good at least as half-hour shorts if not full-length films. I was even a fan of the travesty that was 'Nightbreed,' because all those mutants were just too cool. But my favorite Barker character has always been Harry D'Amour. Never mind that film with Scott Bakula as Harry--bad casting, in my opinion, but a semi-decent film even so--the character has huge potential for his own television series and a ton of films.

Well, if it matches or exceeds the level of midnight meat train then i'll be happy.
I'd always thought some of Clive Barker's stories could make good movies, but with the exception of hellraiser I never saw a good one and even that in retrospect had a few issues. Midnight meat train was an excellent little film, I thought, and if this is too, then well hell that's a trend ;)

@cunning001: Oh, pray tell what was excellent about it? Cooper's awful performance? The bad CGI blood? Aside from Vinnie as Mahogany, the thing was a predictable slog.

Nightbreed is great. Cronenberg's mask in that movie is one of the coolest horror movie villain masks ever.

Sorry, but this movie proved hands down that Barker needed to stick to writing and not directing.

Looked great, but the story was a incoherent patchwork mess, with some of the worst contrived dialogue coming out of cardboard characters that you gave not a whit about.

The stunt-casting of Cronenberg didn't help, either.

@Plague: No, it was The Illusionist that proved that. Still have a soft spot for this flick. Cronenberg was great. Some of the actors, not so much.

@Annalee Newitz: Um... Do you mean "Lord of Illusions" by chance?

I would like very much to see more Clive Barker works turned into films as long as they were not directed by Clive Barker.

As a side note there was at one time suppose to be an animated film of "The Thief of Always" (my favorite book as a youth) that I guess must of perished in development purgatory.

I'm still waiting for an HBO miniseries (or something to that effect) of "Imajica" (my favorite work by Barker).
