Am I the only one who thought that they accidentally skipped an episode? That opener at the beginning of the second episode contained an entire episode's worth of material. I was completely lost, wondering why the recap was full of footage that I hadn't seen. WTF?
And bounty hunters hunt people who have bounties on their heads. It's grating when they keep using it to refer to people who are pretty obviously mercenaries. The terms aren't interchangeable.
Having finally gotten around to playing The Force Unleashed, it's too bad they didn't turn that storyline into an animated series. I thought it was better than all the prequels combined.
As it is, this CW series lost me after the pilot "movie" (at least Phantom Menace isn't the worst SW theatrical release anymore), but maybe I'll give season 2 a shot if I hear they're keeping up the quality for more than this episode.
Also - I might've missed someone already pointing this out - but is Cad Bane of the same race as Grand Admiral Thrawn from the Thrawn trilogy novels? Personally, still one of my fave star wars novels to this day.
@WellsJohnson: You got the colour scheme right (blue skin, red eyes) but The Chiss (Thrawn's species) look pretty much completely human (they also have black hair) besides the colour differences.
After abandoning this show after the first couple of episodes from season one, I gave into the hype and watched it and I quite liked it too.
I am a bit tired of the Clone Wars era though. I think at this point it's overkill, battle droids have now been with us for 10 earth years, and that is quite enough. The entire original trilogy only lasted about seven years, and the quality of SW product today doesn't even approach what we got over 25 years ago with ROTJ.
Perhaps after this series is over they can make a spin-off that is more stand alone episodes, that cover the entire SW universe, and the different eras. The great thing about the old movies is WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN... so to me there's not much suspense here.
Having said all that though, this series is pretty decent and I will keep watching, but it's in spite of the trappings: battle droids, anakin, padme, vulture droids, and separatists... I'm tired of all that stuff.
The funny thing is, all "we" really want is a series with Han and Chewie, flying in the Falcon, having shoot outs with tie fighters, and making shady deals with questionable people. Doesn't have to be that complicated.
wait wait wait... maybe its me, but isnt the kyyber crystal the crystal that vader uses to enhance his force powers? i mean, i'm going back in the day to the original expanded universe, but come on lucasfilm, i expect some measure of continuity, especially if you are going to use old terms
@HenriettaCabal: Hells yes. That and "Han Solo at Star's End." To a kid growing up in the late '70s/early '80s, long before VCRS/DVDs and/or 24-hour cable channels (or at least long before either one was in my parents' house), those novels and Marvel Comics' ongoing comic series were manna from heaven.

I was also shocked at how much of a time gap there was between the episodes. The intro narration was a little underwhelming.
He's now on a trade federation ship heading to blah, blah, blah...
Wait. What?
Also, I find it interesting that the trailers are pretty dark and ominous, but the show is still a little light-hearted.
A question. Was the shape-shifter the same gal in the movies, or is my timeline all messed up? She can't be because that one died in AotC and that takes place before.
"... given that he's working for Darth Sidious, he's essentially just another Seperatist flunkie..."
I was a little bit disappointed to find him in the captain's chair of a Separatist ship commanding inept battle droids, as if he were simply a more competent version of Grievous. The attacks on the Senate and Jedi Temple were exciting, because this is a bad guy who gets his hands dirty and does stuff. He can improvise, which so far has only been the domain of Anakin. You almost find yourself rooting for him.
It's been said by many others that the biggest thing missing from the prequels era is a Han Solo. If a bad guy is the closest we can get, I'll take it.
@Jeff Edsell: Well, Grievous started out utterly amazing an scary (clone war cartoons by tartakovsky), and ended up being a clown in the movies, so there's no reason they wouldn't have ruined Bane too.
One, complaint- there's no way Bane could wear a suit of clone armor. First off, he has those pipes connecting to his lungs, and second off Duros heads are way too big to fit in the helmet. Otherwise, it was a pretty cool episode. The whole walker-as-boarding craft was pretty awesome, too.
@ThisDudeRufus: Eh. Yeah. But it makes a good cinematic. Just like how Asska always fights with that reverse sword-grip that doesn't exist outside the movies. Looks pretty!
@CantankerousDave: Which, again, are fictional. Holding a sword in reverse is a very fictional trope. The thumb and wrist are perfectly designed to put a tremendous amount of pressure on something you're holding, without allowing it to slip. Reversing the grip actually makes any pressure you can put on it much weaker, and it means your hand is almost guaranteed to slip when your palms get slippery.
I interviewed the voice of Cad Bane -- Corey Burton -- if any of you want to read it. Diehard geeks might also recognize him as the voice of Shockwave from the "Transformers" animated series.
@agentgray: He did have a rather interestingly unattached personality. Also, I take umbrage to him being described as just "a guy with no nose". He was clearly a cybernetically-enhanced, old-west-style, Duros gunslinger.

However, someone at LucasFilm must have though it to up the ante a bit and they moved some of the last episodes around.
Unlike the reviewer, I liked Cad Bane. If most of the episodes for next season are like this (and the season 2 preview looked stellar) I welcome it.
Osaka dying at the hands of Cad? Amazing. Do it. Give Anakin more reason to go dark.
A lot of headshots by bounty hunters in this episode.
