Paranormal Activity is more impressive than any of that, it pulled in 20.2 million on 760 screens. The show my wife and went to sold out quick, I think it ended up getting oversold by a few seats actually. I would say that it is on track to decimate Blair Witch, and for good reason because it is actually scary.
I am so ashamed that I was so terrified by the end of the movie, and me watching it again would take a couple of xanax. My dad asked me if he should watch it stoned and I told him that it would just amplify the terror, I couldn't be paranoid and scared shitless at the same time. #wherethewildthingsare
It looks like an intelligent, thoughtful family movie that might spark some real conversation. That's pretty rare in US kids fare. Like a good book, good family movie will have something for viewers of all ages. #wherethewildthingsare
Phil Lord, the creator/writer of this is an unsung genius. He wrote and directed almost all of the incredible Clone High cartoons. He has an incredible ear for humour, a great writing ability, and an amazing ability to pick great voice actors.
He also provided the voice of Dr. Scudworth, which if anyone has ever seen the show, is perhaps the single most undeniably, hysterically, absolutely funny characters and voices in the entire history of animation.
Seriously. Buy it, torrent it, look up Scudworth on Youtube. You won't ever be sorry.
@Pope John Peeps II: I did not realize this was him- I'm the only person I know who LOVES Clone High. I don't know why no one gets it- so clever and funny. A curse on MTV for canceling it because some folks from India complained about the (adorable) depiction of the Gandhi clone.
Design is such a critical and overlooked element of filmmaking (see the recent Star Trek film- a BREWERY?!?!?). I saw this movie last weekend and thought it was one of the top 3 movies of the year. Everything came together- a good script, great technology, fun performances, and lovely design. I'm glad to see it acknowledged here.

Seems a bit odd given that falafel is vegetarian and made out of chickpeas, and meatballs are MEATballs?
Weird when movies do this sort of thing, given that the setting and the content is almost certainly not going to change.
The funniest part is that there's nothing Israeli about falafel -- it's an Arab food that Ashkenazi Zionists started eating in order to distance themselves form the culture of the diasapora.
@AmaryllisOstrich: True -- heaven forbid anything Yiddish-flavored be back in Israel, despite that being the culture of the majority of Jews at the time.
Of all the countries I've visited, I find the McDonalds in Israel, Japan, and Germany to be the most interesting.
Israel has a kosher menu, which has to be seen to understand, Japan has such famous selections as the Tofu Quarter Pounder, but Germany was my favorite, as only there could you order a beer with your extra value meal. Brilliant.
@Cash907Censored: Having lived in Germany, I can say I've never seen beer offered in any McDonalds.
The one in downtown Freiburg am Breisgau was not only built into a 800+ year old former wall/fortification at the heart of the city, but has restaurant quality seating. Still no beer.
I'm sure there are exceptions, but in my years there I've never seen it.
@Dr.ClaytonForrester: I haven't been in a McDonalds in a while, but beer is even listed in Burger Kings in Spain (and I know I've had it in MD's too), I cannot be more amazed that's not an option in Germany. Maybe they find it offensive to pour beer in a plastic glass or something

2 hours of awkward monster bickering is not going to keep kids interested and probably alienate most adults.
(Luckily I saw it for free because the projector on Surrogates messed up.) #wherethewildthingsare

Pretty sure all the ethnic, religious, and cultural groups in Israel enjoy a nice bit of cow or sheep. Do they not turn them into yummy spheres?

Huh... I just did a google search, and apparently, they stopped serving beer 10 years ago. What a crock.
