Just to freak out BSG fans.

I do not like this sam I am.
I do not like glowing eggs and ham.

As a woman, I have serious issues with the idea of glowing ovaries. Glowing blood would be cool. But not this.

I'd say that growing faintly glowing hamster ovaries in the lab will take a lot more energy than switching to the new LED bulbs.
Plus it's less messy than all those hamster hysterectomies.

If you want creepy, somewhere recently I saw a video of genetically modified neurons whose synapses glowed every time they fired. A live, glowing brain as a light source might have other uses as well. Reply

Lol. What hypocrisy. Choosing a picture made of man-made plastic and resin to represent "Green Earth". Sigh. It is a beautiful picture, but what the scientist says it represents is just pandering to the judges. Reply

..."Meanwhile, since we pointed out the resemblance between Avatar and Roger Dean's artwork a month ago, there's been a flurry of discussion on the subject online..."

*cough cough*

All kidding aside while I knew that Dean was not THE inspiration for the film's color pallet and dragon taxonomy it was clear that - along with many other iconic pop artists - Roger Dean was an inescapable inspiration for Avatar.

That and the pot smoking. Clearly the pot smoking was and will remain a major part of the Avatar experience.

Look out Pink Floyd.

Am I the only one really disturbed/perturbed by the name change? My distaste of meaningless overexposure to temporary elements of popular culture aside , the place had a perfectly beautiful name to begin with: "South Sky Pillar" or "Heaven and Earth Pillar." They're going to change a name that is naturally evocative and universal to:

Avatar.
Halleluja.
Mountain.

That'd better be a poor "Engrish" translation. What the hell kind of name is that for such a beautiful, natural, EARTHLY feature?

I cannot wait for Avatar to come out on DVD so I can put it on, shut off all lamps save for the blacklight in my livingroom, ingest quasi-legal substances, and watch the movie on mute while listening to Porcupine Tree's The Sky Moves Sideways on repeat. Reply
