@Garrison Dean: R.O.A.C.H.: Well for me the business model needs to change. For low budget productions, say people do the film for free with a contract saying you get a percentage of the profits.
Imagine how much the actors in "Blair Witch" would have made if they had been promised a piece of the action.
I personally think it's going to happen more and more. I mean you can start making movies with as little as two thousand dollar investment (for a camera, editing software and computer. even cheaper if you skimp a little.)

I guess it does depend on who's willing to sacrifice for their art.
@alphanumeric1971: A noble idea however it would never make it past the distribution stage because no producer will buy a film if they know they have to pay out percentages to the actors who worked on it down the line.
