The only thing I liked about the pilot was the kid playing Willie Adama. He seemed very naturalistic. How come Bill Adama never mentions meeting the inventor of the Cylons? He went to a pyramid game with Greystone. Wouldn't that be like going to a basketball game with either Bill Gates or Steve Jobs? Wouldn't you keep a snapshot of that day on your desk? I would.

so while they promised a "personal familiy-based show" they're also going to have big interstellar ship battles?

Familiar with the expression "too manky cooks in the kitchen"?

    (sigh)
well, it IS part of their history:

But I must ask: ***This show won a Peabody after its first two seasons...>THEN Jane Espenson joined, wrote some bad episodes, SELF-PROCLAIMED her episodes to be "fan favorites (based on WHAT?) then kept inexplicably getting promoted....WHY do they keep putting her in CHARGE OF things?

My guess is that she's that kind of person that....is REALLY fun to be around, but does bad work, but most of your co-workers don't understand why you don't "like" them; "because they're ruining our business, no matter how much I personally like them" (sigh)

Further...here's a thought: "The Plan" is described as "seasons one and two shown from the Cylon point of view", right? No arguement there?

So....WHY would you put a writer in charge, Espenson, on "The Plan"....who didn't join the show until after that?

She just rode the coattails of Toni Graphia...but Graphia came out as a lesbian in season 2, then "mysteriously" left the writing staff (what, they don't like gay people?)

...then surprise surprise, our New Favorite Show was Sarah Connor Chronicles (I LOVED that show) and guess who was an executive writer on Terminator?...TONI GRAPHIA.

@CodenameV: I think BSG's stance on gays is pretty obvious.

One was a sociopathic and cruel lesbian who was willing to use personal reasons to torture. The other was an honest and sincere soldier UNTIL we learned he was bisexual. THEN he became a back-stabbing mutineer who needed execution.

There's a reason beyond the usual fan outrage over Ianto's death on Torchwood. It's because gay SF fans used to being shit on. Even by the so-called Liberal writers.

That Moore thinks BSG is 'progressive', and that Espenson is a competent show-runner, makes me question anything he does in the future.

Espenson's fandom seems to consist of a dozen or so very vocal and prolific bloggers - the rest of us are going WTF?!

It's good that they are not working in every detail from BSG. Otherwise it turns out like the Star Wars prequels where everything is related and it becomes a continuity nightmare.

@Dr Emilio Lizardo: arguably it could be worse; the "little nods to the future" might be like when Enterprise mentioned future things IN PASSING that you would only understand by having a Star Trek Encyclopedia on hand; i'm not talking about, say "a character makes a joke about half-vulcan half-human hybrids being impossible, the joke being we all know Spock is going to be one"........I'm talking about stray useless references to planets that have no bearing at all

    @Dr Emilio Lizardo:

    spoiler alert:

They've already confirmed that 3 episodes will be dedicated to Cally's father who, trough a long chain of events is inspired to be a great dentist when he grows up.

We then learn that Dr. Henderson would later become known as one of the 10 greatest Dentists in the region. This inspired Cally to follow her Father's footsteps and enroll in Dentist school, but 1st she needs help with tuition.

This will be a lead-in to one of the upcoming BSG movies... "Battlestar Galactica: Cally goes to Tech School"

More colony-on-colony violence and less angsty teenage computer constructs, and we have a winner.

@stephenthechampion: Yes, we have a very basic idea of where it ends, but if Battlestar Galactica has taught us anything, it's that the journey can be infinitely more enjoyable than the ending.

I'd like to provide you with a massive spoiler about your own life. Are you ready for it? OK, here we go:

You die. Have I ruined your life for you?

@ThisDudeRufus: Being the politics geek that I am, I absolutely loved trying to comprehend the politics of the Old Republic. I could totally watch a show that was all Caprican C-Span.
