Instead, it'll air sometime in 2010. But it'll still come out on DVD Oct. 27, with a much longer cut than the televised version. [Chicago Tribune]

<![CDATA[What Awful Sadist Demanded A Sequel To The Cell?]]> Psychic detective Maya goes inside a killer's mind... only to see an image of the killer, in the real world, injecting her with something nasty, in The Cell 2. "Nooooooooo!" She screams. Maybe she's watching the same movie we are.

Who demanded a sequel to Tarsem Singh's The Cell? Whoever it was, he or she is even more sadistic than The Cusp, the serial killer/paramedic who keeps bringing his victims to the brink of death and then reviving them. It's mostly standard torture porn, only with the same psychic crap as the first movie. And there's this great snippet, where the serial killer turns her psychic powers back on her, using them to destroy her childhood memories somehow.

The Cell 2 came out on DVD a couple of days ago, so you know what you have to do.

<![CDATA[President Lex Luthor Is Naked Under His Battlesuit!]]> Our enduring nostalgia for the Lex Luthor presidency will finally be assuaged when Superman/Batman: Public Enemies comes out on DVD this fall. Animation God Bruce Timm tackles a crazy-caped Jeph Loeb storyline, and judging from this first trailer, it's going to be like Batman: Brave And The Bold on steroids.

<![CDATA[The Third Stargate Movie Is A Go-Go]]> Good news, gaters - the next Stargate DVD feature has been given the go-ahead for production, and could start filming this fall. Which means, more Richard Dean Anderson and Shanks for everyone!

Not that I had my doubts, but it's great to hear that the studio is going ahead with a third SG-1 DVD movie. The first two were pretty solid examples of where Stargate can go (given time and money). I especially enjoyed the character development that happened in Stargate Continuum.

Executive Producer Brad Wright confirmed to Gateworld.net that the movie would most likely begin this year and would continue to be a RDA-centric storyline. Which is exactly what the people want.

But don't worry, Atlantis fans: Producer Joseph Mallozzi promises that the Atlantis movie will also be made. In fact, he's hard at work on the script right now, with Paul Mulli, and hopes to have the draft done this April with a potential production in the fall. So thank goodness for that - I need a McKay fix.

All that's left is settling on a title, which I leave in your hands.

<![CDATA[Alien Infestation In Aisle Nine: First Look At Alien Raiders]]> What would make a JPL scientist kill his wife and hold an entire supermarket hostage at gunpoint? Find out, in this exclusive sneak peek at Alien Raiders, the horror film that's out on DVD tomorrow.

In Alien Raiders, Ritter and his team of rogue alien-hunters track an alien infestation to a supermarket and start trying to figure out which of the people inside have aliens in control. As you can see from the clips below, they have some unorthodox methods of alien detection. And it's up to one smart cop, who keeps his head in a crisis, to keep the situation from going bonkers.

Here's the trailer:

And here are a couple of clips:

Alien Raiders

<![CDATA[What Happens To The Men Who Disappear Into Sector 4?]]> A new direct-to-DVD movie aims to channel the spirit of classic schlock director Ed Wood. S4 (Sector 4), shot in black-and-white for a shoestring budget, features gasmask aliens in wobbly UFOs in 1952... and they're "targeting" marines. For what? Well, the teaser trailer gives a hint, and it looks like there's a plot twist Arnie would be proud of. S4 is getting a screening tomorrow night in Vegas at the Rave Motion Picture Theaters, and you can pre-order it on Amazon now. [QuietEarth]

<![CDATA[Viking/Alien Smackdown Now Direct To DVD?]]> When will we get to see the Viking clan face battle with the evil alien creature with the big scary teeth? New rumors are suggesting that Outlander, may be released in the United States only on DVD. Which is a dreadful injustice. Despite a few negative early reviews, Outlander deserves a wide-screen release, followed by an after party of pillaging.

The Outlander site denies any DVD talk but mentions a rather "small" theatrical release. Which usually means 15 screens, then the movie gets dumped to DVD. This would be a terrible idea, but this is what they say:

We'd like to reiterate that Outlander is *not* going direct to DVD. The nearest we can tell, no date has actually been set for the DVD release, so the Amazon listing is possibly spurious. Though they are taking preorders, don't expect to see the DVD come November 18th. And again, The Weinstein Company is contractually obligated to give Outlander a theatrical release. We don't yet know to what extent they'll do so (hopefully not on the level of Death Defying Acts), but we're hoping the reactions out of the fantasty filmfest spur them to action in this matter.

Would you buy the Outlander DVD? Or drive 100 miles to see it in the theater?

<![CDATA[The Avengers Fight The Terminator — And Lose]]> The new trailer for The Next Avengers: Heroes Of Tomorrow shows more of the dystopian world after the android Ultron has killed most of the Avengers... and it looks very Terminator-esque. Even more than in the first trailer, we get more of a sense of the stakes involved in the battle between the Avengers' kids and a suddenly badass Ultron. The son of Captain America and Black Widow, the blond daughter of Thor, Black Panther's son, Hawkeye's son and Giant-Man and Wasp's son combine with a elderly Hulk and Iron Man to avenge the death of their parents and become the next Avengers. Good to see a white-haired Hulk still screaming, "Hulk is strongest there is." The Next Avengers: Heroes Of Tomorrow comes to DVD September 2.

<![CDATA[Ultron The Killer Robot Actually Wins For Once]]> The children of the Avengers have to... umm, avenge their parents, in a new direct-to-DVD animated movie from Marvel Studios. Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow takes place after the Avengers have all settled down and gotten married (including Captain America marrying the Black Widow) and had tons of kids. Then Ultron, the crazy killer robot, comes back and wipes the retired superheroes out. The world's only hope: the Avengers' plucky kids, whom the heroes sent into hiding when Ultron's smackdown went into effect. I'm a sucker for next-gen stories like Batman Beyond, so I'm cautiously intrigued despite the cheesy trailer. [SuperheroFlix]

<![CDATA[Will A Serenity Sequel Happen While Nathan Fillion Is Still Juicy?]]> We'd all given up hope for Serenity 2 ever coming out. But maybe we despaired too soon? Alan Tudyk claims the "special edition" DVD of the first Firefly movie has done so well that Universal is considering a sequel.

It might only be direct-to-DVD, but all the original castmembers (even the ones who died in the first movie) are stoked to come back. Browncoats, it's time to go back into OCD mode again. Go buy another three copies of the first Serenity and hand them out on the street. You know you want to. The rest of us can try to figure out what's up with Summer Glau's dress in this picture.
