While this video is hilarious, I fear that the actual Americanized version of Akira will not be far from this. I mean, how many anime-to-movie incarnations have you seen that are actually worth watching or don't suffer terribly from the director taking WAY too much artistic liberty? Everyone ever made?
The best anime-to-movie incarnation I've ever seen was Cashern and that was Japanese. The only comparison we have is Dragonball, which looks pretty terrible thus far. Street fighter and Mortal Kombat.
I don't really think that any of the things shown in the parody were particularly disney per-say, Just more, "americanized" Disney never uses product placement in their films, the style of the characters is not at all Disney, and teen Drama is the last thing that they would ever consider doing.
@shaoshao: So that wasn't an iPod in WALL-E (the only functional modern day device in the film). And WALL-E's power up didn't sound anything like an Apple.
And I guess all the obscene cross-pollination of Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, HSM, or the rest of their properties is just my imagination.
@dalhectar: You know that Hannah Montana's live action, right? There's a big difference between Disney Feature Animation (generally very well done) and Disney Feature movies (hit or miss, more miss than hit.)
@shaoshao: There are more Disney movies than the animated ones. I think taking many of their live action films into account, you might have a different opinion.
