It just occurred to me: Are new comics coming Thursday because of Veterans' Day?
Edit: Oh holy crap, how did I miss this? S.W.O.R.D. #1 comes out this week! Abigail Brand is the second best thing to come out of Joss's run on Astonishing (the best being Armor).
Pushing two words together is more Punishing... to grammer.
Plus it makes things look cool..like JeremyMax..or InternetMax... or TentaclePorn #avengers
@DocSeuss: Ah! Its Muphry's Law in effect. {^_^}!!!

Whilst I'm on entirely the wrong side of the Atlantic to have a hope of getting it before the trade, the Wall-E series actually has me really excited, as does Supergod. Although I'm reasonably sure a Supergod movie done by Pixar isn't going to be happening aaaaany time soon... #avengers
Philip Jose Farmer wrote some Doc Savage novels in the 70s, for example Amazon.com

I'm not sure how I feel about this "contemporary setting" business... Something that has impressed itself upon me after the Batman cartoon, various Elseworlds titles and constant rewatchings of the Fleischers' Superman is how, really, those Golden Age heroes are Pulp characters and work best in a Pulp setting. I'd much rather see a Golden Age Batman meet up with Doc than a modern one, or see The Shadow and Gene Autry try to cut it in 2010.
@Cory Gross: If any of them were to be 'modernized', Doc's the best candidate. Gadgetry was always a big part of his appeal, and that could rendered in a post-steampunk fashion - not really victorian tech, but electro-mechanical, rather than digital.
@MonkeyT: Oh sure, if they Sky Captain it, it would be awesome. I'm thinking about Doc Savage in the modern day. Honestly, I can't see The Shadow working as a modern day Dark Knight-type thing. I'm kind of suprised that I don't have as many aesthetic objections to The Dark Knight as I ought to have.
Doc Savage! When I was a kid, my mom would buy me old sci-fi and pulp adventure books to read, and much as I loved the old Tom Swift, Tom Corbett, and Dig Allen Space explorer books, Doc Savage was a real treat. They just went so completely bizarre. It'd be like "Doc, it's rash of robberies. By guys in invisibility suits. Who fly around in spherical airships. And it's all part of some master plan to control all the silver in the world."
Oh, and in that clip above? That's right. That's a Doc inventing the Rocket Fisherman. In the arctic. Because that's how he rolls.
I heard DC got the comic rights to Savage recently. This could work well, as Doc's always been a team player, he just had his own team (Monk Mayfair, Ham, Johnny, etc). Can't wait to see how they draw his sister, Pat. Bet she'll be on a cover within six issues.
