However, giving poor Donna a better ending would be good.

I think that the idea companions come and go doesn't quite sit well to a lot of people. SJS' reappearance was well-played by highlighting the fact, but the Doctor, as a rule, could be pretty brutal, or at least cold. I don't think that sits as well with the new audience.

Much as I never want to see Rose again (and think it's far too soon to bring back Donna either), I'm okay with the big companion wank-fest on this special occasion, provided it's just 10 telling Verity about various events that occurred in his past... possibly in a "No, no, no... you got that bit totally wrong. This is how it really happened!" sort of way.
While this seems like a rather fond way to bid farewell to an excellent Doctor, I am going to be a little bit pissed if we get a massive 2hr finale where the Doctor sits around in a bookstore reliving some of his greatest adventures, then reveals that he's dying of McGuffin poisoning, and that he wanted to spend the last remaining hours of his regeneration with his "granddaughter"... rather than using that time to do something sensible, like seek medical help.

I like Billie Piper but enough is enough - she got her own Dr to take care of. And Martha has always been a dud with me - she should never be brought back.
I don't mind a few characters coming back but when there are so many it just ends up being a mediocre story that just tries to fit everyone that has ever been on the show.
