I can totally see how this happened.

Robocop can be good and satirical even without excess violence -- the TV series (not to be confused with the crap miniseries thing) was terrifically funny.
But since comics effectively have an infinite budget for 'splosions and stunts, we will buy this for a dollar or more.
Alex Ross has always managed to create characters that seem too perfect to be human. His Green Lantern is sitting on my desk, and is proof to me that there is nobody in the world who could be that perfect.
