@rek: I haven't read a big event comic in over a decade. Actually, no wait, I read Civil War because Graeme gave me his copies. I wouldn't mind a big Event Comic where nothing changes at the end -- but I'm always under the impression that Event Comics are by definition about things changing. Not so much about telling a good story for its own sake. If they did a huge crossover and advertised it by saying "Nothing changes at the end, but it's a fuckin great story!" I would buy it.
And 'The Death of Superman' was really different in that Superman died, but actually he didn't, but then he came back, and the dude replacing him was just a copy, but when the real one came back he had long hair, and a different costume, but then he went back to the old costume, and cut his hair again.
@EnBuenOra: The thing is, when Superman died there was never a question of _if_ he would be back- the question was HOW he would come back, and how the characters in his world dealt with this situation.
@outsdr: So the problem is that in a Marvel book you can imagine something game-changing having a lasting effect, but in DC you expect stagnation from the getgo and aren't disappointed?
Because they sure as heck tried to get you to buy into the "Superman is dead, nothing will ever be the same mentality".

I'd really appreciate if you could go through my posting and point out exactly what I said that supports your statement, as opposed to assumptions you're making about my opinions.

Again, are you new to comics? That's Standard Operating Procedure.

Maybe that really wasn't Superman. And the real real Superman...
