@jp182: i find it difficult to belive that every sentient race other than our own has already evolved beyond the fight or flight response while we remain millions of years behind. it seems far more likely for there to be both us, races that have evolved byond the fight or flight reponse, and races somewhere in between that would still consider our violent tendancies 'normal' given their own recent history.

We actually encounter alien life every few months or so. Ships arrive, radio messages are picked up, alien artifacts are found, the Mars Rover snap pictures of extraterrestrial probes...

I have a whole collection of New York Times front pages from these events. But every time it happens, this one alien race in particular removes all the evidence and neurologically erases our memories.

It's really irritating. There was once a huge pKiii ship on the great lawn of Central Park for like three weeks. Then the next day no one remembers.

Anyway, those of us who do remember meet at Sir Harry's at the Waldorf on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
