(I know...shocking!) And when those fans want to combine their two loves through art, the results are often quite awesome.

Before we get to the massive gallery of Simpsonized science fiction characters, we need to give a huge amount of credit to the fan artists who drew all these fantastic designs. This gallery is, quite honestly, dominated by the work of Dean over at Springfield Punx, who has been cranking out Simpsons version of pop culture figures for the past year. As someone who can't even draw a straight line, I find what's he done simply staggering.

But we've also got a bunch of other artists represented, most of which come from the deviantART community. Finally, we have the work of Dylan Meconis, whose adorable Battlestar Galactica riffs (my personal favorite is to the left) were what first made me realize the awesome potential of Simpsonizing sci-fi icons. So thank you to them all. Now, without further ado, here's our gallery...

<![CDATA[The Ultimate Treasure Trove of Human-Alien Love]]> If you can't get enough of the scene in Galaxy of Terror where that lady does something nasty with a giant worm, then we've got a serious treat for you. There's an entire fan community out there devoted to recreating the wonders of wormly ravishment, and they've stashed a bunch of their creations at a site featuring GOT girls — you know, Galaxy of Terror girls.

I feel like I've been completely remiss in my perversion-hunting because I'd never heard of GOT girls until a few days ago. This community has been around for so long that some of these delightful nasties are done in really old-school flash animation. But others are just timelessly great fan art created with Photoshop, pencils, and even a few real-life people in costume. Oh GOT girl, now that I know you, how can I ever let you go?

<![CDATA[OMG Robo Unicorn!]]> What happens when you combine the might of the two most powerful creatures in the universe? You get this amazing oil painting of Robocop riding a unicorn. Found by the image-hunters at Photo Basement, this is one of those brilliant pieces of fan art that hovers perfectly in the canny valley between sarcasm and homage. <![CDATA[Meet The Stars Of The Next Knight?]]> The Dark Knight's sequel will feature Catwoman, the Riddler and Harley Quinn, as played by Marion Cotillard, David Tennant and Kristen Bell - or, at least, that's the dream of one particular artist who's come up with posters for his version of Chris Nolan's third Batman movie. Click through to see full-size images.

The images are the work of Australian artist Josh McMahon, who came up with the images after chickening out of posting the above image as an April Fool's "leaked" Dark Knight still. We're not convinced with the somewhat stubbly Catwoman, but if Nolan wants to take advice about Tennant and Bell, we'd be very happy Batfans indeed.

<![CDATA[Disney Princesses The Way Frank Miller Likes Em]]> Forget Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, I want to go for a spin in the Sin City Disney world. Artist Curt Rapala substituted Frank Miller's Sin City vixens with our favorite Disney princesses. You've got Belle and Becky, Ariel as Nancy, Snow White as leader of the Old Town hookers Gail. Click through to see who they've replaced deadly little Miho with.

<![CDATA[A Gallery Of Fans' Pimped-Out Battlestar, Star Wars Cars]]> Dean Shorey built this car, based on the Vipers from Battlestar Galactica, by hand. (It looks like old Battlestar, not new.) Corey's not the only fan to have customized his car into a starfighter out of science fiction shows or movies. Click through for more fan-pimped vehicles, including a gallery.

katiehornrulez.jpgMy favorite SF car, besides Corey's, is Katie Horn's Red Five X-wing car. It started out as an early 90s Toyota Tercel, then she gave it a new base coat of paint and then spray-painted on X-wing markings. But what puts her car over the top is the blast marks she spray-painted on.

There's also Shawn Crosby's A-wing car, which has been featured in Wired. Another fan turned his pick-up truck into an X-wing fighter, complete with R2DT in back. And then there was the Fiat that someone tricked out as a Hoth ice cruiser and tried to sell on eBay for $40,000.

Unfortunately, Star Trek fans have fallen short in the pimped-out cars category. The main Trek car seems to be the Seven Of Nine Car, which has a model of the Starship Voyager on its hood and pics of Jeri Ryan all over the body. Must try harder, Trek fans. Where are the cars with warp nacelles?
