Damn, just readin' the whinin' on this thread makes me want the show cancelled.

Thanks for confirming my point.
One can be a fan of the show and still own up to the fact that it is an uneven mess that is lucky to still be on the air- something you and your blinded ilk can't seem to accept.

Yes, because calling someone upthread who disagrees with you an employee of Fox and/or Gamestop is SUCH thoughtful commentary!
You can make all the excuses for this show's weaknesses that you want- which is what you are doing throughout this thread- no matter how many times you call me a troll. Is that what you and your like-minded apologist Kevin Jones seem to think is a game ender or something?
Neither have you shown a reason why this show should have been renewed at the expense of TSCC or any other for that matter. The audience didn't build, no matter what viewing habits you factor in. Did Fox blow the marketing of this show? I don't really know, because I don't think the creators knew what to do with it either, as the majority of episodes plots seem to show.
Far better shows have been cancelled by Fox and I don't expect that trend to end anytime soon.
If knowing a show by one of my favorites just isn't that good makes me a troll, then I'm off to find a bridge.

How my name ended up in this is a mystery. I said partsuchaux was a troll because the only threads they have commented on were Dollhouse threads and, not surprisingly, were exactly what a FOX employee doing damage control would say.
Given a choice between the two, I would have picked TSCC. I enjoyed it more and I don't believe FOX is going to allow Joss to make the show he wants irregardless of what they say in the press, and there is plenty of evidence for that.
I'm not an 'apologist' for anything, what I stated made coherent and logical sense regarding someone's transparent comments.
You, on the other hand, came into this section with some sort of bitch to make. Hey, you made it, move on because, frankly, once you stick around being snarky and, as TomSkylark said, "making dismissive assumptions" about other people's comments you do become a troll.
The only thing we can do is what I'm going to do right now, stop feeding the troll.

You came into it because you also accused someone who disagreed with you of being a Fox employee.
I'm glad you and your compatriots make "coherent and logical" statements while those who disagree with you are "transparent".
Yes, I made a snarky comment. About condescending fanboys like you who seem to think that a show's creator has no say in the final product just because it's on Fox.
Now, NOM NOM NOM.

Hasn't it occurred to any Dollhouse fans that constantly bleating how Fox sucks, the Fox execs are all terrible human beings, reporting every rumor by spinning it to be evidence that the people making the decisions at Fox are minions of Satan ... even AFTER they renewed Dollhouse for no reason that anyone in the industry, including Joss Whedon himself, can fathom ... hasn't it occurred to any of you that this might backfire? That, at some point, the fact that Joss Whedon has 'an enthusiastic fanbase' becomes a liability, not an asset?
They are not 'trying to exert editorial control over an external website', they're saying Dollhouse fans are becoming a complete pain in the ass. YOU WON. You got what you want from Fox.
It's going to be a selling point of the DVD that there's an unaired episode on it. By saying that episode will be aired, it makes the DVD boxset less attractive, and fewer people will buy it. Care to guess how a show no one watches these days can make money? DVD sales.
While it's great to see Dollhouse fans punching themselves in their own face, I think it's only fair to point out that's what they're doing.
Fox owe you nothing, you owe Fox big time. Show some gratitude.

1. Yes, they are "trying to exert editorial control over an external website" I'd have thought that would have been fairly clear from their line "do not make any further announcements on your site regarding network scheduling unless you receive notification from the network that scheduling is confirmed"
2. If FOX comissions a set number of episodes to air, frankly, I'd expect them to air all of them.
3. Scheduling it in the 'graveyard' slot and then giving it little promotion anyway is exactly why Whedon fans blame FOX for its treatment of Dollhouse - had they made more of an effort to get people to watch it, it would have performed better. Had they not demanded a full rewrite of the pilot episode after completion, more people would have watched it from the start.
4. The show has enough hardcore fans that are buying the DVD sets regardless of the extra episode.
5. As FOX themselves said when recomissioning, high TiVo numbers and timeshift viewings showed there was more than the support for the show indicated by the limited ratings numbers.
6. Finally, your last point is more bull than any of your others. For one, FOX owes Dollhouse fans the courtesy of giving them what they promised them, namely Epitaph One. They also owe them for giving the show support when they essentially shoved it in the corner. And the only thing that the fans owe FOX is the small thanks for recomissioning a show that should have been anyway. They're giving the show the promotion that FOX didn't, they're evangilising the show when FOX didn't, and they're the ones watching every week.
