I never thought I'd say this but... I'm actually getting sick of slagging off Twilight. Seriously. It takes a lot out of a person to sustain this amount of bile for this length of time. Good thing there's so many people around to share the load with ;)
Personally, most of my scorn is directed at the fact that this badly-researched, badly-written pile of fanfic has not only made it to print, but has somehow sucked in (no pun intended) so many people - not only the tweenie goths, but the 30ish housewives who, to be honest, should really have better taste in books.
Are there any other writers on the board infected with the same envy/rage as me?
Possibly the greatest article this month. This whole Twilight "phenomenon" is all kinds of disturbing. I mean, 30+ year old women are swooning over this book. Somethin' ain't right...
@greenland: I can't imagine what it must be like to hate your own culture and upbringing as much as this person does (the blogger in the link, that is). I'm sure that there are books out there that I would hate badly enough to expend such an effort to denigrate, but I WOULDN'T READ THEM in the first place.
@metalkate: Word. I grew up around the Morg and even as a small child I was horrified by what the women had to do and didn't get to do. Even as a kid, I knew there had to be more to life than keeping house and pumping out babies, with no voice.
Also, her pointing out that the author's basically wanting to sex up the founder of her religion... ew...
Oh, fer christsakes, leave Twilight alone already. We've seen this all before.
Teeny-boppers: OMG, Edward is sooo cute! :swoon: :swoon:
Too hip for their own good crowd: Ha ha! Look at the stupid kids! They think this crap is good? Stupid kids.
We all had our Twilight equivalents in our day, and I gotta say, as silly as the premises of these books are, at least kids are reading them. And vampires as the new teen heartthrobs? Whodathunkit? Meyer gets credit for making young girls go ga-ga over bloodsuckers. That's a handy feat.

I just hope that someday all these girls grow up and start reading, say, Kelly Link and Robin McKinley.

Part of me is sorry you had to spend so much time in Twilight-land in order to compile this, but so very glad we have it all in one place now.
