Fox Will Be Home Of Paranoia And Virtual Unreality Next Spring

Fox has picked up J.J. Abrams' X-Files-esque show Fringe and Joss Whedon's amnesiac-puppets-in-dystopia show Dollhouse for January 2009. And now Fox is taking more of an interest in Ron Moore's new astronauts-in-virtual-reality-show Virtuality, based on the reports that Peter Berg (Hancock, Dune) may direct the pilot and produce the show. Click through for more details on Virtuality and Fringe. More »

The Complete X-Files on The X-Files

The long-awaited X-Files sequel (as yet unnamed) will be in theaters this summer, and even though it'll have been six years since X-Files fans have seen anything new, there's already a lot of excitement buzzing around this movie. Will they find the truth? Will they make a believer out of skeptics? Will they finally just shed their clothes and do it so all the "Shippers" (fans who think that Mulder and Scully should be in a relationship) can finally get their deepest desires? We don't know yet, but we have put together an exhaustive list of what we do know about the show below . . . where your questions will never be answered unless you want to believe. More »

We Have Some Winners For Our Caption This Photo Contest!

You blew us away and nearly terminated our ability to process comment overload with the over 400 comments on our Terminator caption contest, underscoring the fact that io9 readers rule no matter what the current timeline is. We had a lot of great entires, including several dozen that had John and Cameron interfacing intimately, if you know what we mean. We decided to award two honorable mentions because we couldn't narrow it down to one winner. The runners-up will get some prizes too. Find out who won after the jump, and look for more contests from io9 soon! More »

Caption this Photo to Win A Cyborg-Sized Load Of Terminator Gear

The two-hour season finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles airs tonight on Fox, starting at 8pm (so set those clocks early, folks) and we're giving away a giant chunk of swag from the show. See the photo above of John and Cameron sitting at the table? All you have to do is come up with a funny caption. You can try to come up with a deeply moving caption if you want, but it'll probably be easier to come up with something funny than something that will make us re-think out lives. What will you win? io9 Talks To Jumper Director Doug Liman

If you charted Doug Liman's directing career, you'd see a big spike in popularity when he jumped from indie films like Swingers and Go right into the Bourne trilogy. He's hoping to continue in the mainstream, high-concept Hollywood vein with his new film Jumper, opening in select theaters today. The movie follows young "jumper" David Rice (Hayden Christensen) as he uses his "jumping" powers to teleport all over the world. The flick took Liman on his own journey to exotic international locations, only this time without superspy Jason Bourne in tow. Read on to get his thoughts on Jumper, as well as details about his next film, about colonizing the moon. He also tells us why Superman's flying is destroying the environment. More »

J.J. Abrams' X-Files Television Show Still Rolling Along While J.J. Abrams is currently busy remaking Star Trek and shepherding the Manhattan-smashing monster movie Cloverfield, his X-Files 2.0 television show (on Fox, nonetheless) Fringe has quietly cast two of the FBI agents who will be checking out the paranormal and bizarre. Kirk Acevedo from Oz and Mark Valley of Boston Legal will be stepping in, but sadly they won't be Mulder and Scully.

Come With Me If You Want To Get Big Ratings Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles can breathe an Arnold-less sigh of relief. The first half of their premiere scored 18 million viewers last night, giving it the best opening night of any new show in three years. More good ratings may be ahead: The second part of the premiere tonight has the advantage of not going up against a new episode of Heroes.

Jumper Teleporting Through Commercials

Advertising has gone so meta that only teleportation can explain it. In this ad, Jumper star Hayden Christensen uses his teleporting gift to throw himself into Serena Williams' computer ad. So basically he's leaping out of a commercial for the film, which is about teleporting mutants, and into an old ad for Hewlett Packard, starring Williams. It's a new mutant kind of advertising synergy, more like cross-cannibalism than cross-promotion. Be very scared. 'Jumper' ad leaps between products [Variety]

io9 Talks to the Makers (and Star) of the Sarah Connor Chronicles

io9 spoke with star Lena Headey and producer James Middleton of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles today to try and torture secrets out of them, Skynet-style. Luckily, we also sent robot duplicates of ourselves back in time to infiltrate the set while they were filming, and to take out the future leader of the human resistance. Check out what we learned after the jump, and tune in when this show gets started on Sunday night. More »

90210 Meets The Terminator Brian Austin Green will be joining the cast of The Sarah Connor Chronicles next year on Fox, which dramatically decreases our hopes for the show. The last time we saw Green he was playing a punching bag to Keira Knightley in Domino, so let's hope he has a similar role in this show.

Terminator Show Reaches Out To Fans, Asks Them To Create Advertisements

Following a lack of buzz for Serenity's Summer Glau looking like Star Trek's Borg Queen, Fox have now asked fans to create their own teaser posters for the upcoming Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series. More »

Wolverine Film Has Child Molester, But Not Much Else

Wolverine may have a healing factor, but bad movies don't. His solo vehicle, starring Hugh Jackman, is set to begin filming next month. The film has suffered multiple setbacks, including scheduling problems, changes in filming location, casting issues, and a script that was rushed light-speed into completion in order to beat the writer's strike.

The latest news: Robert Knepper, who played the aptly named child molester T-Bag on Prison Break, will play a major villain. Possibly Sabretooth, the shaggy monster played by former wrestler Tyler Mane in the first X-Men movie. Other than that, casting for the film seems to be a mystery. More »

Fox Grasps At Lost X-Files Glory

J.J. Abrams just sold a pilot script to Fox for a show that sounds almost exactly like X-Files. A young female FBI agent, faced with unexplained phenomena, must recruit the aid of a scientist who's been institutionalized for his wacky theories. Fox hopes Fringe will help it recapture the glory of its Mulder-and-Scully days. The biggest mystery, however: When does J.J. Abrams sleep? More »
