Messing with the timeline didn't create the serial killer. He was always there. The disruptions simply caused someone else to now become one of his victims.
Love this film. Changing things in the past to change the future and all that jazz!! Very cool film! As for re-writting history films. If you want an utter stinker of a film (which I recomend drunk)....A Sound of Thunder!! Its positivly monkey dung!! Ben Kingsley should always forget he was in this...forever. For anyone who (fortunatly) hasnt seen it, they go back in time to hunt very bad CGI dino's. They step on a butterfly and it all goes tits up when they get back. Awesome synopsis...very bad film. Worst CG City in film history and the inclusion of monkey lizards...Utter tripe.......

I love time travel movies like this, and this is one of my favorites.
If you like this kinda of thing, you should already have watched this movie.
If you REALLY like this kind of thing, go read my blog post on how I am going to convince people that I'm a time traveler. [working-as-designed.blogspot.com]
@Daumier: I feel like if a movie's been out for more than a year or two, people don't get to demand spoiler warnings. They had their chance to see it unspoiled. This movie's been out nine years. You're in the clear. Darth Vader is Luke's dad. Bruce Willis was dead the whole time. Rosebud was a sled. Anything else?
Frequency is a pretty decent watch actually. I quite liked it. It's one of the few time-altering plots that doesn't give me a headache with time paradoxes.
@Kamigoroshi: I saw this movies in theaters and own the DVD. I don't want to overhype it, but I did appreciate the understated time-altering mechanic and the character-centered story.
I think it's worth a rental if you're sitting around wondering what to watch.
EDIT: You know...I might just fire it up this evening. I haven't watched it for awhile.
This might be my first chance to watch Battlefield Earth with a somewhat clear conscience. I'm already paying for Netflix, so I won't feel like I'm giving money to Scientology...
Everything I know now about Scientology, I looked up because some hyperactive Scieno Shills for Battlefield were stinking up the boards back in, what, 2000?
I accidentally read the book in high school. Man, what a stinker.
I vote for Battlefield Earth, but the rifftrax version. It's still a watchable movie, and you get something to take the edge off. It's like getting your leg cut off, but the surgeon gives you some 30 year-old scotch before. I reccomend Rifftrax for almost all movies that they have available, but there is a side effect of whenever you see Ian McClelon, you go "Cerebro, I mean Magneto".
I vote a combo: first Battlefield Earth, then a Frequency chaser. Because even after the venting of writing a review of Battlefield Earth you're going to need something to show you again that there is good and right in the universe, and some of it's on display in Frequency.
Also, Frequency is one of those rare (as far as I know) father/son films that manages to be both intellectually interesting and touching without turning off the wimmens. I watched it with my parents years ago, we were all surprised how the entire family enjoyed it.

I love this movie so much. Completely underrated in my opinion. It never gets the attention it deserves (kind of like Jim "Savior HotAss" Caviezel)

The ending with Quaid standing there all heroically badass with shotgun always makes me tear up.
