We evolved for millions of years with the greater light from the full moon, which may have meant more predation, both by and against us. It could be part of our natural rhythms now, like a circadian appendix. Plus the self-fulfilling prophesy thing. And werewolf movies.

    Fronkenstein: "Werewolf?"

    Eye-gor "There wolf!"

I'm leaning towards the "more light at night" hypothesis put forth by some of the previous commenters. It's easier to cause mischief and mayhem when you can see what you're doing.

[Thakur and Sharma] believe that the full moon exerts more gravity on the water in human bodies...

Thakur and Sharma need to take a damn physics class. The full moon is no closer than at any other time of the month.

It's all suggestion. People act up on the full moon because there's a full moon, and everyone knows people act up on the full moon.

@DrMathochist: They never said it was closer. The moon's *mass* increases -- it's *fuller*!

    Like, duh!

@noncornbatant: Human tidal waves make PERFECT sense. Right now, I am totally flooding the coasts of the Indian ocean. It's like a natural disaster.

I've been feeling rather irritable over the last couple days, but I don't blame that on the full moon. lol This is like the people who believe every woman in the world bleeds on the day of the full moon.

The reason why people seem to act crazy on the full moon is because they believe the full moon causes craziness.

I'd be willing to bet it's a psychological side effect of there being more light at night. I know in Alaska you get a weird sort of energy when the days get really long. More energy = more shenanigans.

I always thought I had a better chance of getting laid during the full moon. Not that there was any evidence of such a phenomenon but I believe it and will try once again tonight.
