    Oh god. Did you describe me as a mega nerd? Io9 described me as a mega nerd? This is a very bad sign.

    Am I seeing this wrong or are those buildings in the Trek pic ludicrously gi-normous? The Burj Dubai would look like a tiny toothpick in that skyline.

    [geek]They must put structural integrity field generators in their buildings.[/geek]

    You forgot to mention Golden Gate scene in the "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus" trailer

    [io9.com]

    As well as the San Francisco/ Golden Gate scene in "Monsters vs. Aliens!"

    [io9.com]

    Heck, any movie that destroys Golden Gate is aces in my book. Perhaps that should be a future io9 blog -- movies that blow up Golden Gate....

    Those bastards just WON'T STOP putting mega-towers up in South of Market. And then the Federation painted them all blue-gray! At least Skynet had the common decency to burn them down.

    @SybaRat:

    In Star Trek, San Francisco is the capital of an interstellar government. It needs those towers to hold embasies from various worlds.

    @OlavRokne: Oh, please. Like we wouldn't cheerfully stick the Gorn delegation in East Oakland and make them carpool in over the Bay Bridge. At rush hour.

    I just got a flash of the Klingon ambassador heading into the Mission every lunch for brain tacos.

    @EBone: Depends on which version. In TOS its in San Fran most likely as it is in San Fran for Enterprise. Trek VI isnt very clear on the issue either, as it seems as if its also at Starfleet Headquarters but in alternate versions it actually states Presidential residence Paris.

    It doesnt seem to really move to Paris though till DS9.

    @SybaRat: We would TOTALLY stick all those races over in Oakland. And not let them on BART. We'd make the Andorians live in a crappy ghetto.

    The Klingon ambassadors would eat GAGH tacos. Squirming out of the tortillas.

    I really like that double decker look on that first city but I bet the people who live or work on the lower level would want a little more sunlight. :P

    Still, very neat.
