Seriously, though, he's completely right. The only people who would seriously gripe about such a delay are people who have never sat down and tried to write a complete novel themselves. Or worse, are the people who *have* cranked one out in about a month and wonder why Martin can't do the same. Because Martin's novel will be publishable and good, you hack, that's why!

Fortunately for me, it looks like I can watch Song of Fire and Ice on the teevee soon, or at the very least, catch up on DVD sometime in the future.

I read the first 3 (4?) books and I have to say...the writing is good, the characters are interesting and well defined, the world is well built and there are threads of story that I'm interested in following...
but jebus!...get on with it...hundreds of pages of nothing...
Wheel of Time suffers from this also but at least there is plenty of action to keep you reading in between...
Game Of Thrones series is considered the best by so many but honestly I just don't see it...needs a stronger editor.
