If it ever happens ... what will be about episodes 7 ,8 and 9.

    Would they recast it ....

    I just can`t see everyone returning ,

Carrie Fisher is got new book out where she`s dressed as princess leia wilth boozes and pills around her .

So God only knows how she feels about returning to her famous role .

Harrison Ford wants another Indy movie .

Mark Hamil might leap at it .

But this sounds like pure fiction . #starwars

In reply to New Star Wars 3-D Trilogy: A No-Hope
I loved Star Wars when I was a kid, but Jedi came out when I was born so I didn't have the sentimental attachment that most people who grew up waiting for the trilogy to be finished have. I thought Phantom Menace was okay, Clone Wars and Sith were good enough for me to still enjoy, so the thought of a new trilogy gets me all excited. There are several reasons why me and other people would like to see it, even though a lot of purists would say absolutely not.

First and foremost, most of the world has no insane attachment to the series, and just see it for what it is on film, a space opera. Second, I doubt that there are enough people that could say they are totally familiar with what happens after Jedi, and I only know bits and pieces. Enough people would want to see what happens post-Jedi in the New Jedi Order. Third, there aren't ever going to be enough people saying that George Lucas and Co. raped their childhood for them to not move forward, and even if there were it would have to show a detrimental impact on ticket sales for them not to.

I am all for it, but I can't say that I care if it's in 3D or not. I love CGI eye candy, and if they are going to use the tech from Avatar and potentially have Speilberg directing then the whole Star Wars universe will never have been more alive then it would in a new trilogy. #starwars

NO! There is not need. God talk about raping a franchise to death, and then digging it back up to rape it some more. I grew up the hugest star wars fan, but ever since the prequels... I fuckin' hate star wars now! (with exception of the original clone wars cartoon, that was good) #starwars

The original triology will get remade one day.

Deep down in our souls we all know it's true.

Probably wont happen until Lucas is dead, and hell we may be dead by then.

But unless the collapse of civilization happens first.... one day. #starwars

Oh, god, Avatar is going to be as sh***y as Howard the Duck!
That was the exact same BS they said about Howard the Duck--it needs to be a success so George can make the next batch of trilogies. We owe it to future generations to stay home during Avatar's opening weekend. #starwars

You know, just the thought of another trilogy, even if it seems unlikely, is enough to get that feeling having your childhood raped all over again. You know that feeling, it first started when you were sitting through Phantom Menace. #starwars

I've learned better than to risk the wrath of Browncoats, but I might piss off Zahn fans by saying that I think a Thrawn trilogy movie would be a very, very bad idea. I have three reasons.

    1) By the time they start filming, the leads will all be in at least their late fifties (Hell, Billy Dee is past 70) It would be like the last few original cast Trek movies to have them playing big action roles. Better to have them as mentors to a new generation of characters.

    2) The pacing of the books is very different from the movies, so they would have to cut a lot, leaving nobody satisfied (Watchmen, anyone?). Plus, everyone would already know the story.

    3) (And here's where the wrath comes) The Zahn novels weren't very good. #starwars

@Wookie1972: The plotting wasn't what made the Zahn novels appealing, it was the characters. You can't tell me Thrawn wasn't a great Star Wars villain. (Wrath over.)

They'd have to significantly alter the plot anyway, since the prequels made some of the stuff in those books a bit nonsensical (esp. Book 2, where they "re-discover" cloning technology which we now know would have been used all along.)

To solve the aging actor problem, have the team who do the "Clone Wars" series make an animated version with the original cast's voices.

@Blue_Thark: I think doing it animated would be a letdown. In any case, I should have brought up this point as well: having it be about Luke, Han, and Leia et al would ruin the symmetry of having it be a generation-spanning saga. The only returning "leads" should be the droids. #starwars

@Blue_Thark: It wasn't so much Thrawn as Mara Jade, who I find the most overrated SW character ever, including Boba Fett. (I much preferred Bria Tharen in the AC Crispin Solo trilogy.) Plus the silliness with Luuke. #starwars

@Wookie1972: I'd have to agree with your point about character symmetry. If there were to be a "sequel" trilogy it should involve all-new characters (save the droids) to keep things fresh. An animated Thrawn adaptation would be more of an EU treat for the fans, I think.

I also agree that Mara Jade is a mostly boring and pointless character, especially knowing what we now know about the Sith. It's all about Thrawn and the Noghri.

Bria was awesome, too. Oh, Luuke, we hardly knew you... Let's hope it stays that way. #starwars

Meredith- does this mean that he changed his mind AGAIN about doing the last three movies? Remember, there were supposed to be nine movies- middle trilogy, beginning trilogy, and then the final trilogy, then he got old and tired and said screw that final trilogy. I think I've seen stuff (Wiki?) about what the plots of the last trilogy were supposed to be.

I remember joking with a friend in the early '80's, when Reagan was trying to bring us to the brink of destruction, sending a letter to the effect "Dear Mister Gorbachev, please don't destroy the world until George Lucas finishes STAR WARS and we find out what happens". That friend died before the second trilogy was even filmed, so he never found out. Seeing how the second series was, it's likely better that he did. #starwars

Would this be a follow-up to the end of Return or a re-imagining? Because, although it might be a fake I read a plot outline for episodes 7-9, and I think I could see myself getting invested in something like that. Especially, because according to this probable fake, it takes place 30 years or so after the events of 4-6, so the original actors could play themselves 30+ years later.

Link to the alleged plot outline for 7, with links to 8-9: [www.supershadow.com] #starwars
