<![CDATA[Set Pics Reveal A Proto-Cylon, A Mysterious Grave On Lost, And A Fringe Struggle]]> Things get weirder on Lost, and a star of The Wire visits Doctor Who. Romo Lampkin visits Supernatural, and there are bizarre Green Hornet reports. Also: Fringe/Caprica set pics, plus FlashForward, Smallville, Stargate, True Blood, Dollhouse and [Rec] spoilers.

[Rec] 2:

Javier Botet returns as Medeiros, who's possessed and the object of a manhunt by a priest and a S.W.A.T. team. The priest needs Medeiros' blood so he can synthesize an antidote for the virus that allows demons to possess people's bodies. As with the first movie, Botet only shows up at the end of the film. The sequel has more explanations than the first movie, and is more action-oriented and commercial, says Botet. [Shock Till You Drop]

Green Hornet:

Apparently the new "it" band The Anvil just filmed a cameo where they play in a rock club and then, literally, explode. [L.A. Times via Cinemablend]

Lost:

More details on episode four, "The Substitute," from an anonymous source. (Grain of salt definitely indicated.) Apparently this is the episode where we deal with Faux Locke and Jacob's murder. And in the episode — according to source — Sun insists they should give someone a proper burial, Frank makes a comment about the "weirdest funeral ever," and Ben makes a touching speech. Someone reveals that he/she know a lot more about the island than Ben does, and the identity of Jacob's child is revealed. Also, a drunk Sawyer reunites with a familiar face, and an old friend meets someone unexpected off the island — possibly the Ben/Locke scene at the school that people witnessed the filming of? [SpoilersLost]

Some new set pics include a bit of airplane, a hole in the ground, and a weird structure. More at the link. [SpoilersLost]

Dollhouse:

Enver Gjokaj, aka this show's new MVP, says he's very clear that Victor and Sierra really do get wiped in between assignments — it's only Echo who remembers stuff. But Victor and Sierra have a love/attraction that can't be wiped. And upcoming episodes will explore Victor's backstory and we'll discover that he's actually "a very broken character." We'll realize that both Victor and Sierra were very "damaged characters." [L.A. Times]

Caprica:

Some set pics from a Syfy set visit, mostly showing the nice interior furnishings... but that one Cylon pic is fucking cool. [SpoilerTV]

Doctor Who:

More details about the upcoming animated storyline, "Dreamland." The Wire's Clarke Peters will play a Native American named Night Eagle. (Oh.) Peters says his character gets caught up in an alien invasion in New Mexico: "He's an old man, but a hell of an archer." And as you might have known, Georgia Moffett (the Doctor's daughter from last year) plays a new character, companion Cassie Rice. And David Warner also guest stars. [Telegraph]

Fringe:

A couple of photographers captured some snaps of the recent filming, including a stint at UBC involving an altercation, a fedora, and a group of children in orange outfits. More pics at both links. [My Little Insanity and BlueTeeth on Flickr, via Fringe Watch]

Supernatural:

A goofy sneak peek and a new promo from this week's episode:

Romo Lampkin/Manservant Neville himself, Mark Sheppard, will guest star in the last episode of 2009, "Abandon All Hope..." He plays a pivotal crossroads demon named Crowley. This episode, written by Ben Edlund, will be epic and leave you on the edge of your seat until the show returns in early 2010. (The show takes Oct. 22 off, but otherwise has new episodes every week, through Thanksgiving.) [Chicago Tribune]

And here's the synopsis for next week's episode, "The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester," written by Sera Gamble:

OLD MAN DEAN! - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) discover a witch (guest star Hal Ozsan) is running a high-stakes poker game where the currency is life years vs. money. Bobby (Jim Beaver) sees the game as a chance to get out of the wheelchair and bets 25 years, but loses. As Bobby begins to age rapidly, Dean steps in to save him but also ends up turning into an old man, leaving Sam holding the bag for their survival.

[SpoilerTV]

Chuck:

Episode 3x07 will be called "Chuck Vs. The Mask," written by Phil Klemmer with Michael Schultz directing. [ChuckTV.net]

FlashForward:

A couple of sneak peeks from this week's episode, "Black Swan":

And here's the official description for episode six, "Scary Monsters And Super Creeps":

Mark, Demetri and Wedeck try to connect Janis' attack with a separate attack made on them; Olivia confronts Mark about his flashforward; Demetri and Gough track down a clue from Mark's flash; Dylan goes missing from the hospital

[SpoilerTV]

Smallville:

Those rumors that Laura Vandevoort would turn up in episode 9x07, "Kandor," aren't true. And here's the description for the Speedy episode, 9x06, "Crossfire":

OLIVER TAKES DC COMICS' CHARACTER SPEEDY UNDER HIS WING - Oliver tries to help a young street girl, Mia AKA Speedy (guest star Elise Gatien), get out of her dangerous life by offering to train her, but Mia double crosses him. Lois asks Clark to help her land a job as an on-air television host, but the two are shocked when the station wants to hire them as a team.

[KryptonSite]

Stargate Universe:

The lost-in-space show had a press day in Vancouver last week, and Collider was kind enough to post the whole thing on Youtube. [Collider]

Even though this show is such a departure from the past 15 seasons of Stargate shows, in one respect it represents a return to tradition: co-creator Robert C. Cooper says that the Stargate had become marginalized somewhat in Stargate Atlantis, and in this show it's central once again. It's the "device that allows us to tell stories. It's very much a central icon to this show." [Den Of Geek]

True Blood:

Someone you hate isn't long for this world, according to Alan Ball:

"Somebody is going to bite the dust and it's going to be really good to see them get what they deserve," Ball says. The only clue the Blood boss would reveal is that "it's a person we'll be happy to see go."

<![CDATA[Iron Man 2 Photo, Predators Casting, Crazy Doctor Who And Lost Set Reports, And Action-Packed Caprica Footage!]]> Spoilery overload! There's a new Iron Man 2 photo, plus another piece of Predators casting. Set reports include Doctor Who regeneration clues, and Locke's fate on Lost. Crazy new Caprica/Supernatural/FlashForward footage! Sexy Heroes pics! Plus Sarah Jane, Dollhouse and Fringe.

Iron Man 2:

Entertainment Weekly posted a new set pic from this superhero sequel, showing Tony Stark in the famous Randy's Donut's scene (with Nick Fury, not pictured.) More set pics from upcoming movies at the link. [EW]

Predators:

More casting news! ComingSoon.net reports that The Shield star Walton Goggins has joined the cast, playing one of those tough guys who get zapped to the Predators' homeworld. [ComingSoon]

Green Hornet:

Some more set pics give us a better look at the Hornet's weird-looking gun — is it a gas gun? A laser? Something else? More pics at the second link. [People And Daily Mail]

New Moon:

Our first look at Tinsel Korey As Emily, who's like a second mother to the wolf pack. A scratched-up second mother, by the look of things. [Dread Central]

Doctor Who:

Heroic set reporter Alun.Vega was Twittering from the filming, just as we were wrapping up this edition of morning spoilers. Apparently Matt Smith was on set, wearing David Tennant's suit — which was much the worse for wear, with lots of rips, as if Tennant had been caught in an explosion. And it appears that Amy, his new companion, is a police officer when he meets her. They filmed in the fake 1990s village of Leadworth, complete with a fake garden set up around a "White House." (But not THE White House.) And Amy says something to the Doctor about "twelve years of therapy." Amy and the Doctor run to an ice cream truck. (Possibly due to weird post-regeneration food cravings?)

Also, there's a fire truck parked near the White House, and lots of extras stand stock still, as if frozen, holding their mobile phones as if they were in the middle of taking a picture of something. More pics at the second link. [Alun_Vega on Twitter and Flickr]

Lost:

This island-castaway show filmed two different scenes involving Locke on Saturday. One seemed to involve the deserted back offices of Hawaii Telecom, and Locke's old box-company nemesis, Randy Nations (Billy Ray Gannon) was reported to be on set. (So in the alternate reality where Oceanic 815 didn't crash, Locke is presumably back at his old job.) But then a second scene took place at a high school, and involved Locke and Ben — plus a ton of extras playing high school students and a girls' basketball team. Since episode four is called "The Substitute," there's some speculation that either Locke or Ben is a substitute teacher — although maybe that name also refers to Locke's doppelganger? And finally, Katey Segal, who played Locke's lost love Helen, is also in Hawaii — so maybe the Locke who landed safely in L.A. had a reunion with Helen. [Hawaii Weblog]

Another set report involved a scene where Sun, Frank, Ilana and Ben are walking along with Locke's dead body — apparently a continuation of the season finale, coming right after the events at the Four-Toed Statue. They walked back by the remains of the castaways' camp, including Mr. Eko's church. And there are set pics, in which you can't really see anything much, at the link. [Lyly Ford]

Also, we've been wondering when we'd see Matthew Fox and company filming some scenes where they're still wearing their Dhama jumpsuits, following on from the events of the previous season finale. And now one eyewitness has spotted a jumpsuited Fox, plus Evangeline Lilly, filming a scene with John Hawkes, who's joined the cast as corporate spokesperson Lennon, plus the long lost flight attendant Cindy, played by Kimberly Joseph. There were also a ton of extras in ragged clothes. They were filming a set at the Temple. Also around later on were Daniel Dae Kim and Jorge Garcia. [Hawaii Weblog]

Producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof say they've found a way, in the final season, to bring back the sense of learning more surprising stuff about these characters all the time that they had in the first season. This new device will lead to some emotionally intense moments of discovery. And don't hold your breath for tons of extra Dharma Initiative stuff this season. They also imply Richard Alpert will be getting a fairly involved flashback sequence. [Sci Fi Now via SpoilersLost]

Caprica:

A new promo includes a few seconds of precious footage of episodes after the pilot... including a slugfest between Graystone and Adama. [Battlestar Blog]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

Here are the official descriptions for parts 1 &2 of the second story, "The Mad Woman In The Attic":

Part 1: Rani investigates strange rumours about a demon living in a funfair at the seaside. What she finds there, however, is far more alarming than that and she makes a decision that affects not only her future, but also the futures of all those she cares about... Far in the future, in 2059, an old Rani remembers the day when her whole life went wrong. As her younger self investigates mysterious disappearances at an abandoned funfair, she sets into motion a chain of events which unleash the terrible powers of the alien Eve.

Part 2: Alien Eve's powers grow out of control, with everyone caught in her sinister and endless games. As the echoes of an ancient war threaten the modern world, the danger extends all the way to the year 2059. If Rani fails to change her own destiny, then everyone is doomed.

And here are some promo pics from the first story, "Prisoner Of The Judoon". [BlogtorWho]

Dollhouse:

Here's a new interview with Enver Gjokaj and Dichen Lachman. [BuddyTV]

In episode 4, "Belonging," we witness how Sierra wound up in the Dollhouse firsthand. And Sierra has some intimate moments with Victor. Also, Boyd is worried about Echo. [Fox]

Supernatural:

Our first pic of Paris Hilton in Thursday's episode looks... like Paris Hilton. With a weird knife. Full version at the link. [Chicago Tribune]

And here are a couple of clips from the episode:

And according to a casting call, we'll be meeting another new demon in episode 10:

[CROWLY] 40's or 50's male Demon - he is bit more urbane and sophisticated than what we've seen up to this point. He wears a suit, drinks fine wines, still pretty cruel and decadent, though. Please submit all ethnicities. RECURRING GUEST STAR

[SpoilerTV]

FlashForward:

Here's a sneak peek from Thursday's new episode.

Someone's flying to Japan in episode nine apparently — at least, we'll meet a bilingual Japanese flight attendant, according to a casting call. [SpoilerTV]

Also, in episode five, Mark finds himself on the defensive in a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, while Olivia receives an anonymous message. And Janis wonders how her vision of the future will affect her relationship. [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Claire vamps it up and Sylar gets dissheveled and then joins the circus, in new promo pics from episode 5, "Hysterical Blindness." [SpoilerTV]

Fringe:

Can Olivia handle the truth? We'll find out on Thursday.

Smallville:

Here's the official description for episode 5, "Roulette":

DC COMICS CHARACTER ROULETTE SHOWS OLIVER HER CARDS - Oliver (Justin Hartley) is drugged and kidnapped by a woman named Victoria AKA Roulette (guest star Steph Song), who tells Oliver that he's involved in a dangerous game and must fight for his life. After Victoria shows up dead and Oliver is arrested by the police, he turns to Chloe (Allison Mack) for help. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) berates Clark (Tom Welling) for not telling her about Oliver's suicide attempt.

<![CDATA[First Look At Mayhem And Costumes On The Set Of Seth Rogen's Green Hornet]]> Explosions! Calamity! A skinny Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet! Check out this set video for the Green Hornetmovie. Meanwhile, Edward James Olmos reveals more about his reporter role, and his hopes for a sequel.

In other Hornet news Edward James Olmos told The LA Times that the film is "finally coming together," and revealed that he'll be playing Michael Axfold, a reporter for the local paper run by the Green Hornet's father, James Reid.

"It took a while, but things are finally coming together," said Olmos, who revealed he has one major stunt in which he gets zapped. "I think it's going to be very exciting. People will find that it's different than what they expect. Seth is doing a wonderful job. There's a lot of everything. It's going to be action-filled, and there's a lot of humor in the situations. It's really a well-crafted piece of work. Hopefully, people will enjoy it and we'll have a few of these films."

More Green Hornets? With the trouble this movie had getting it together, let's just focus on making one decent film.
Getting rid of Nic Cage was the first step in the right direction, and the exciting explosions are another. Fingers crossed.

<![CDATA[Inglourious Basterds Villain to Battle the Green Hornet]]> There may be hope for The Green Hornet yet. On the heels of Nicolas Cage's departure as the gangster antagonist in the superhero film, Michel Gondry has snagged a far more villainous actor: Inglourious Basterds' Nazi fiend Christoph Waltz.

Deadline is reporting that Waltz, who has received much acclaim as the fearsome Nazi Colonel Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's latest film, has been cast as Chudnofsky, The Green Hornet's main foe. Waltz is like a better match for the role, which Gondry has described as a terrifying foil to Seth Rogen's more comical superhero.

<![CDATA[Green Hornet Pushed Back To December 2010, But Seth Rogen Feels Just Fine]]> Oddball superhero flick Green Hornet has certainly had its share of troubles. After losing Stephen Chow, twice, the latest Hornet news is that the release date has been pushed back to December. You know, when real movies come out.

Hitfix spoke with star Seth Rogen after learning news of the movie's delayed release date. Not surprisingly, the actor is in full spin mode, or else genuinely happy that his odd ball, little known superhero flick will have to stand toe-to-toe with big-name productions and Oscar bait.

We're both relieved and psyched about the change. It gives more time for post [production], which would have been immensely rushed if we were to come out in the summer. It also affords us more time to promote the film, (now we can go to Comic-Con with more than a car!) and ultimately is a great vote of confidence from the studio. We got the same date that movies like 'I Am Legend' and 'Avatar' are getting, so we're thrilled to be there."

More time to make a decent movie is never a bad thing, and perhaps a bit more exposure is exactly what this film needs. But it still feels like the move from July 7, 2010 to December 17, 2010 was an effort to quietly dump it off into a cold pasture.

<![CDATA[New Photos Reveal Avatar Body Parts And Maybe A Caprica Confrontation]]> Spoiler revelations! There's a fresh look at James Cameron's weird Avatar, plus Cameron Diaz talks Green Hornet. And Caprica set pics! Fringe alternate-universe details! A FlashForward trailer reveals all. Plus Sub-Mariner, Legion, Twilight, Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, V and Stargate.

Avatar:

Someone got hold of a couple of screenshots from this movie's Comic Con footage, showing a glimpse of the face, and feet, of one of those Na'Vi avatars. Somewhere a blue foot fetishist is very happy. Bigger versions at the link. [MarketSaw]

Green Hornet:

Cameron Diaz will play Lenore "Casey" Case, the assistant to Britt Reid, aka the Green Hornet. In the past versions, Casey was one of the few people aware that Britt was the Hornet. But in this new version, Casey's an amateur sleuth who's obsessed with forensics TV shows — and who doesn't know her boss is a real-life crime-fighter. [MTV via Comic Book Resources]

Sub-Mariner:

Jonathan Mostow is still lined up to direct this Marvel superhero movie, possibly after he's done with the upcoming Surrogates. But Mostow said, in a couple different interviews, the script still isn't quite right yet. He does note that the story of Namor, the amphibian prince of Atlantis, is set up at Universal — so Namor won't be part of the wider Marvel universe centered around the Avengers and stuff, unless Marvel and Universal make a deal. (Which seems unlikely somehow.) [JoBlo and Collider]

The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus:

A couple new stills from this Terry Gilliam rabbithole journey. [IGN]

Twilight:

Continuing the trend of real actors getting cast in these movies, Catalina Sandino Moreno will play Maria, a woman who tries to raise an army of vampires with the help of Jasper (Jackson Rathbone). [THR]

Legion:

We showed you the "redband" adults-only trailer for this angel gorefest the other day, and now here's the family-safe greenband trailer:

Caprica:

Luciana Carro, who played Kat on BSG, will be in at least five episodes of Caprica — but it's still not clear if she's playing a character connected to Kat, or someone totally new. [Battlestar Blog]

The BSG prequel was filming in downtown Vancouver, at the Central Library. Polly Walker, playing Sister Clarice, was there, and so was Esai Morales, lurking amongst the crew. The set-up for a tense courtroom scene? Is Joseph Adama going to push Sister Clarice to reveal the truth about her involvement in the bombings? More pics at the link. [The 13th Colony via Battlestar Blog]

Fringe:

Co-creators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman say the dynamic will shift a bit in season two: Peter will be taking charge more, while Walter will have more freedom than, perhaps, he ought to have. Explains Kurtzman:

Last year, it was very much about Peter finding himself blackmailed into the position he was in, of having to be his father's caretaker. He was always faced with the possibility of running. What was interesting to us was that he was a character who could bail on everyone else, at any second. I think a lot of what happened, towards the end of last season, and what we see at the beginning of this season, is leading to his commitment to say, "I'm the guy. If we're going to do this, we're going to do it my way. I'm taking charge now. If you want me to help in the Fringe division, then you have to go through me to figure out how we're going to get to cases." That's going to be a very different way of approach for the character.

And they claim that in their alternate world, the terrorists hit the White House instead of the WTC on 9/11, and Kennedy's still alive. At first, Olivia will be the only one going over to the alternate world. [IESB]

Actor Jovanna Huguet twittered that she's landed a "sweet role" on this show. [SpoilerTV]

FlashForward:

In the pilot, when everybody sees a couple of minutes of their future (six months later) the glimpse saves one character from attempting suicide. Another character worries they'll relapse into alcoholism, and a third worries their marriage will end. Gabrielle Union, who plays the wife of John Cho's FBI agent character, says her own "flash forward" is uplifting. And Cho's chracter doesn't tell her that he sees nothing at all in his flash forward, at least not in the first few episodes. [Sci Fi Wire]

And here's a new promo that explains the whole story in 30 seconds:

V:

The show is looking for someone to play a new character in episode two: Billy Hamil, a young guy in his late teens or early twenties, who's been having terrible dreams and is afraid they'll come true. He lost his parents a few years ago and is alone and impressionable. A woman in her early 30s, Teresa, befriends Billy. She's a lovely woman with lots of inner strength. [SpoilerTV]

Stargate Universe:

David Blue's character, Eli, will be the grounding force, who offers the "fish out of water" perspective that many viewers can relate to. Even though Eli's a genius, he's not really a junior version of Rodney McKay — if anything, he's closer to O'Neill. [Joseph Mallozzi's blog]

<![CDATA[A New Kato and Edward James Olmos Join the Green Hornet Cast]]> Seth Rogen's Green Hornet has finally found his crime-fighting sidekick - and fans of Asian cinema may recognize the face under Kato's domino mask. Updated: Plus, Edward James Olmos joins the cast.

Jay Chou, the Taiwanese singer and actor and star of Initial D, The Curse of the Golden Flower and Kung Fu Dunk, has been chosen to replace Stephen Chow as martial artist Kato, chauffeur and ass-saver of Rogen's inept superhero Green Hornet. Michel Gondry, who took over from Chow as director, is excited about the choice:

Jay is incredibly unique and charming and fights like a wild dog!

Whether ot not wild dog fighting is necessary for the movie itself remains to be seen.

The Green Hornet is currently in pre-production and targeted for release next summer.

'Green Hornet' casts Kato role [Variety]

Updated: Hollywood Snitch talked to Edward James Olmos at Wizard World in Chicago, and the Battlestar Galactica actor revealed his involvement with the film:

"I'm on my way to do 'The Green Hornet,'" Olmos told me. "It'll be a lot of fun with Seth [Rogen], Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz."

So what Hornet role has snagged Bill Adama's attention? There's no word yet, but /Film speculates Olmos may have signed on to play Gunnigan the Daily Sentinel editor with a hair-trigger temper and a special loathing for Sentinel reporter and Green Hornet nemesis Mike Axford.

<![CDATA[The Real Reason Marlon Wayans Passed On Playing Robin]]> We talked superheroes with the all-new "real American heroes," Marlon Wayans and Channing Tatum, and found out the real reason Marlon wasn't cast as Joel Schumacher's Robin — and why he couldn't pull off the "motorcycle in the rain" scene.

You guys had great chemistry in the film. Were there any funny moments we didn't get to see of you two, goofing off as a couple of Joes?

Marlon Wayans: There's some stuff, but we pretty much stuck to the script.

So you guys are toys now...

Wayans: I'm about to go raid Hasbro. I saw this one doll that had the accelerator suit. It's like RoboCop. It was running. I was like, "I need this for my son."

Speaking of RoboCop and science fiction, you guys are really growing in this genre. Were there any superheroes that you two were rumored for, that didn't end up being true?

Wayans: I was actually supposed to play Robin, in Batman Returns, about 15 years ago. But there was too many characters. I was cast, I was paid and everything. I still get residual checks. Tim Burton didn't wind up doing three, Joel Schumacher did it and he had a different vision for who Robin was. So he hired Chris O' Donnell.

Are you happy that you didn't wind up being Robin in that movie?

Wayans: No, look — I get why they picked Chris O' Donnell, because it would be messed up to have Batman and you've got Robin, and his bulge is somewhat bigger than Batman's. Batman would have a serious problem with that.

Channing Tatum: [Laughs] I was rumored to play Captain America. Actually, I would love to play him, but I've read Will Smith is going to do it.

Are there and superheroes you would like to play in the future, since you didn't get to play Robin and you don't think you're up for Captain America?

Tatum: I want to get recast as Snake Eyes.

Wayans: I would like to do the Mask. Jim Carrey did one, Jamie Kennedy did two. I would like to do three.

Tatum: There's a darker superhero called Plucker. I want to do that, badly. I'm trying to set it up now. [Channing is linked to this project as the producer].

Wayans: I want to play Plastic Man — that would be fun too....

In the movie...

Wayans: I want to play the Brown Hornet, from Fat Albert. I want to play the Brown Hornet and be buff on top, and just have really skinny legs. I could get Tracy Morgan to play Stinger.

You guys do a lot of ridiculous stuff in G.I. Joe, what was your favorite moment?

Wayans: Right here [points to Tatum]. We had a great time filming together. On set, off set....

Really? That was more fun that driving a motorcycle through the rain, with sunglasses on?

Tatum: My Top Gun moment? [Laughs].

Wayans: That was so ultimate sexy. I was so like, "oh I wish that was me!" But see here's the difference. White guys in the rain look cool, if I was in the rain my afro would all small, skin would be all dry, it would not be a good sight.

<![CDATA[The Green Hornet May Have Its Kato]]> With Stephen Chow officially off The Green Hornet movie, many have suggested that the task of recasting Kato was nigh-impossible. But director Michel Gondry may have found the actor to step into Chow's domino mask.

Asian news outlets are reporting that Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo is currently in talks to play the Green Hornet's hyper-competent sidekick, alongside a bumbling Seth Rogen. Kwon is known largely as a heartthrob in Korea, having starred in many a romantic soap opera, but he's also has a modest bit of on-screen martial arts experience, thanks to roles in the fantastical Volcano High and gangster-themed Once Upon a Time in High School.

Several outlets have noted Kwon's imperfect English might be the major obstacle to his being cast, but even if he manages to break the language barrier, his action resume doesn't begin to approach Chow's, and it's going to be tough for him to live up to the expectations everyone had for Chow's performance in the role.

And finally, a Harry TV spot:

The Prisoner:

Wired had a one-on-one interview with Sir Ian McKellen, who plays Number Two — although, really, he's actually Number One. And this version of Number Two has a wife and son, and his family is crucial to the reason for the Village's existence. McKellen described his character:

Number Two is very ironic. At times, he's very loving and bewlidered, because he's confused. He's not convinced that he's doing the right thing, because it causes him a lot of pain. And that's the sign of a mature script. Jim was saying in an interview that it is easy to see Number Six is right and that Number Two is a dreadful man. But then, in the next scene, one can see it from a different point of view.

<![CDATA[Is Stephen Chow Completely Off Hornet?]]> Michel Gondry may be a good replacement for Stephen Chow as director of Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet, but does a new casting call reveal that Chow has dropped out of starring in the movie as well?

SpoilerTV posted the casting call on Friday afternoon:

[KATO] ALL ASIAN ETHNICITIES, Male, 20's - early 40's. Brit Reid's manservant/chauffeur by day and Green Hornet's martial arts-skilled sidekick by night. Actor doesn't have to have Martial Arts experience.

Chow's co-starring role in the movie was initially in doubt following his quitting as director, but sources involved in the movie had suggested that he would stay on with the arrival of Gondry as director. This new casting call hints at more behind the scenes changes, and not just in the casting: "Actor doesn't have to have Martial Arts experience"? Isn't that, you know, Kato's whole thing?

<![CDATA[Cameron Diaz May Join Green Hornet's Strange Ensemble]]> Michel Gondry is set to direct, Seth Rogen will star, and now Cameron Diaz might be playing the leading lady? I'm not so sure about Green Hornet. The surreal superhero comedy may end up as one very unbalanced flick.

In a decision possibly aimed at pulling in more "star power" for this film, Cameron Diaz is rumored to co-star in Green Hornet, says Entertainment Weekly . Don't get me wrong — she was all but delightful in There's Something About Mary, but that ship has sailed, reached its destination and been retired to the shipping yards, as far as I'm concerned.

Could this be a turning point for her career where she plays a slightly more interesting character different from the bevvy of romcoms she's been churning out? With the way Seth Rogen is pitching it — no, probably not. She'll wear something sexy and make slapsticky one-of-the-guys jokes, as per usual. And I'll clench my teeth uncomfortably and squirm about wondering what happened to that crazy girl from Vanilla Sky?

Still, I'm clinging to the brilliance of Michel Gondry's perspective, something that never ceases to amaze me. It's really unclear how this movie will play out, and it's too early in the production process to speculate about the project's failure or success. But at least there's Gondry.

<![CDATA[Michel Gondry's Green Hornet Won't Be Made Of Cardboard And Twine]]> Curious as to how the off-kilter Michel Gondry look will translate to Seth Rogen's Green Hornet? The director discussed all different types of ideas for his new superhero movie, from fight scenes to villains.

There's a heap of Gondry interviews floating around out there right now but here are a few highlights that are the most exciting.

First, the Green Hornet fight scenes. According to MTV's Splash Page Gondry plans to include slo-motion kicks and punches that could rival The Matrix, from the sounds of it:

Although it's a little tricky to comprehend with the written word, Gondry basically plans to reinvent the fight scene by having Green Hornet moving slowly, Kato moving super-fast, the villains at normal speed - and then mixing it all up repeatedly. "So, one will go fast and the other will go slow, and then they'll meet," he explained. "It's [as if] they're in different dimensions, but when they touch each other they come into the same dim

He also spilled to MTV about the villain who will be "scary as hell"

The villain is going to be horrible," explained Gondry. "He has a gun with two cannons; he can shoot people in both eyes with one shot."

But most importantly Gondry was very upfront on how Green Hornet is not a spoof, and even though Rogen is attached it isn't an all-out comedy. But of course there will be funny moments.

<![CDATA[Your Spock/McCoy Snark Forecast]]> Just how many Scotty/McCoy cliches will turn up in Star Trek? It's a spoiler. There are also new Wolverine ads, a Pandorum pic and Riddick/Green Hornet descriptions. Plus major Dollhouse, Lost, Fringe and Supernatural spoilers!

Star Trek:

Scriptwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtman hint that all your favorite Trek cliches will be in the movie. Like, there'll be some version of McCoy saying "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a _______." And Scotty will struggle against the laws of physics. And some kind of "insult fight" between McCoy and Spock. And as you already knew, Kirk's cheating on the Kobayashi Maru scenario is in there too. But the writers wanted to include the start of Kirk's relationship with Carol Marcus and couldn't work it in there. So that's for another movie. [Sci Fi Wire]

X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

Here are a few more TV spots showcasing Wolverine's quest for revenge over the supposed death of Silver Fox:

Pandorum:

A new promo photo from this spooky spaceship movie features Antje Traue, Cung Le and Ben Foster hanging out on a beam. [Cinemablend]

Chronicles Of Riddick:

The next Riddick movie will be less fantasy-oriented and more down and dirty, sources say. Here's what we know:

A bounty hunter/space pirate type of story line is expected.

The film will have a capped budget of around $35 million.

Expect an official announcement about the new film after FAST & FURIOUS opens big on April 3.

[IESB]

Green Hornet:

Star Seth Rogen says this film won't feature Michel Gondry's famous style of home-made special effects, because Gondry doesn't want to repeat himself. And the script still focuses on the relationship between the Green Hornet and his more famous sidekick Kato, but now has a greater scope. Rogen and cowriter Evan Goldberg were resisting doing an origin story, but now they've decided to embrace it and have fun with it. [Sci Fi Wire]

Dollhouse:

It's not just Echo, Victor and Sierra who "wake up" in the Dollhouse with their original memories intact, in next week's episode, "Needs." It's also November (aka Mellie) and someone named Mike. They start to question what they're doing there, and who's in control of this whole deal. They also start to remember more about their original lives, and November reveals she left behind someone very important when she entered the Dollhouse. [E! Online]

When Echo suddenly told Paul Ballard that someone "on the inside" was helping him, was that another head-fake from Adelle, or a real message? Joss Whedon says it's okay to wonder that, but "for now, I'd take it at face value." [TV Guide]

Also, here's what happens in episode 9, "Spy In The House Of Love":

When a traitor is discovered inside the Dollhouse, Echo (Eliza Dushku) is programmed as a spy hunter to uncover the culprit.

Oh, and there are some pics — including a swordfight with Victor. Dude! [Fox]

Doctor Who:

There's some speculation that the bookstore scene featuring the Doctor and "Verity Newman" was filmed on a Saturday, before the show's actors had even had a chance to read through the new scripts, because actor Jessica Hynes was only available to film on that one day before she had to fly to New York for another acting gig. In other words, Hynes may have a cameo in the final specials, not a huge role. [Doctor Who Forum]

Lost:

Fans observed the filming of some upcoming scenes. There were tons of gun-wielding extras at Papailoa Beach, aka Police Beach. And Kate, Sawyer, Juliet, Daniel and Young Charlotte were filming a scene at the Submarine Museum, which has stood in for the inside of the Others' Submarine, the Galaga. The scene involved some kind of fight in which Sawyer ended up beaten and bloody. And finally, a ton of extras were playing Others in scenes set in the jungle, possibly at the construction of the Swan station, or a return to the Temple. [SpoilersLost]

Elizabeth Mitchell says Jack and Juliet have very few scenes together, coming up, but they do have a handful of "rich and full" moments. [TV Guide]

Here are a few clips from tonight's episode, including more of Young Ben. [AceShowbiz]

Fringe:

The show's April 7 episode is about an "Observer," with a definite question-mark. The bald child is silent and empathic, and never eats or pees. But the kid's weird peccadillos may be explainable by perfectly reasonable science, and it doesn't have to be a mini-Observer. On the other hand, it probably is. [E! Online]

Dr. William Bell will be formally identified in the season finale, but that may not be the first time we see him. [TV Guide]

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles:

The fact that Brian Austin Green has been cast in a new pilot, Body Politic, doesn't mean he's definitely leaving the Terminator show. It's just a fall-back position in case T:SCC gets canceled, say insiders. His Politic role could get re-cast. [SF Universe]

Heroes:

The show's writers answered more fan questions. In particular, we haven't seen the last of Luke or Doyle. There will be a gay/bisexual character on the show. And we'll see more of Claire and Nathan's relationship when they hang out in Mexico together, in Monday's episode. (We ran some set pics from the Mexico sequence a while back, but I'm too lazy to find them.) [Comic Book Resources via Heroes Television]

In an upcoming episode, there's a huge fight in a hotel room, including a chair covered with blood, says Greg Grunberg. [E! Online]

Writer Bryan Fuller clarified in the episode commentary on "Cold Snap" that Tracy is definitely not dead, and that scene in the garage is the catalyst for her becoming a leader of the good guys in season four. [The ODI]

Supernatural:

The "Ghostfacers" will be back in tomorrow's episode, where Dean and Sam get lost in an alternate world. Dean and Sam call on the Ghostfacers for help, because they're "the two most reliable ghost-hunters in all of ghost-hunterdom," says actor A.J. Buckley. The Ghostfacers don't help Dean and Sam get back to reality — they're more like "goofy shamans" who are well-intentioned. But Dean and Sam and Ed and Harry never see eye-to-eye. [TV Guide]

Jim Beaver, who plays Bobby, told Eyecon that both Dean and Sam will have upcoming scenes with Bobby where they cry. And Bobby's only scene in the season finale is at the start of the episode, but it's similar in feeling — if not in storyline — to "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2." [Dean_Sam]

True Blood:

According to a new casting call, in season two we'll see a flashback to 1935, when Lorena hires a pretty but drunk chorus girl to tapdance for Bill. [SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[The Kick-Ass Spock Scene You Won't Be Seeing In Star Trek]]> Zachary Quinto explains how physical Star Trek's Spock gets, plus actors spill Green Hornet, G.I. Joe, Battlestar and Witch Mountain secrets. Plus Lost/Heroes set pics. And major spoilers on Caprica, Torchwood, Smallville, Chuck and Supernatural.

Star Trek:

Spock was originally supposed to have a hand-to-hand fight with around six people in the movie, but it got changed to a gunfight, after actor Zachary Quinto had already learned all this martial-arts stuff. But at least he may do the Vulcan nerve pinch in the film, says Quinto. [Sci Fi Wire]

Terminator Salvation:

Here's a new still, which might be a trailer screencap, but is still pretty awesome. Bigger version at the link. [Shockya]

G.I. Joe:

Sienna Miller, who plays the Baroness, says you have to commit to a certain amount of over-acting to play a character like that. [Sci Fi Wire]

Green Hornet:

Star Seth Rogen says the movie focuses on the relationship between "two very different cats," the Green Hornet and Kato, and Kato is the one who does all the superheroic stuff. And it's an origin story, but not in the traditional sense. [IGN]

Race To Witch Mountain:

The movie's monster, Siphon, is totally real (not CG) and is badass, insists star Dwayne Johnson. Also, there are incredible car chases and "we get airborne" at one point. And Carla "Silk Spectre" Gugino has a cameo as an alien enthusiast, and other cameos include Whitley Streiber (Communion), William J. Birnes (UFO Hunters host), and the original Witch Mountain stars Kim Richards and Iake Eissinmann. [Times Leader]

Battlestar Galactica:

"More will be revealed" about Ellen and Tigh, and we'll see more of the love triangle between Ellen, Saul and Admiral Adama unspooling in the final episodes, says actor Kate Vernon. And she says the final episodes will leave you with lots of room to reimagine them yourself:

Ron and David don't tie things up nice and neat — the ending is like nothing you'd ever expect. I don't think all the fans could ever be satisfied by one ending, which is a good thing. So this way, they're be left going, "but, wait!" The minds of all the wonderful sci-fi fans will never stop working and journeying into their own ideas because of how the show has been built.

I think she means there will be lots of room for fanfic to explain what happened? [NY Post]

Caprica:

The Futon Critic scored an early look at the direct-to-DVD pilot for this Battlestar Galactica prequel series, which comes out in April before the show actually debuts on Sci Fi next year. No major plot developments that we haven't already reported, but the review does make it clear the first 15 minutes of the pilot feels more like a teen show from The WB era, rather than a prequel to BSG. But you eventually get sucked into the mystery of the monotheist group Soldiers Of The One (STO) and their role in the suicide bombing, and what exactly the dead-but-preserved-online Zoe Graystone is up to. Plus you'll get intrigued by all the social tensions between Capricans and Taurons, and the struggles of the dueling patriarchs, Daniel Graystone and Joseph Adama/Adams. [The Futon Critic]

Lost:

Reports Yaz who's on honeymoon in Oahu: "Well today they are setting up a new camp. It looks similar to the old "others fake camp" but it's on the beach close to the losties origianl camp and nearby others camp with Clair's shack blown up." And here are some pics. (More at the link.) [SpoilersLost]

And here's what happens in the March 25 episode, "He's Our You":

Things begin to unravel when one of the survivors goes rogue and takes matters into their own hands — risking the lives of everyone on the island.

The prevailing theory is that the survivor who goes rogue is Sayid, since this is thought to be a Sayid-centric episode. And here are some promo pics. [The ODI]

And there's another casting call for the season finale. Young "Emily" is 10 years old, with brown hair and green eyes. She's willing to break the rules to get what she wants, but the red-haired, blue-eyed Young "Bob" (also 10) is more nervous about getting into trouble. And then we meet Mr. Springer, a rural business owner in his fifties, who worked hard to get where he is and provide for his family and can be a hard-ass if necessary. [SpoilersLost]

Torchwood:

Director Euros Lyn gives away a few hints about the five-part miniseries "Children Of Earth":

For the first time, we'll see Torchwood facing a threat from home while they're also investigating an alien invasion. When they try to discover why all the children in the world have suddenly stopped at the same time, Torchwood also has to deal with human beings who are trying to hide a past mistake.

And he says it's a huge, epic story but also a very human one. And Lyn also directs the "amazing" final David Tennant story, which he says sets up the Matt Smith era perfectly. [Wired]

Heroes:

The entire cast did a scene together late at night, probably for the final episode ("An Invisible Thread") according to Twitter updates from Greg Grunberg and graphic novel writer Oliver Grigsby. But where are Brea Grant and Ali Larter in this group shot? [SpoilerTV]

Supernatural:

Julie McNiven, aka Anna, will be in the last two episodes of the season. Also, Jim [Beaver, I guess], says on his MySpace page that he spent a whole day of filming getting hit in the head with a shotgun. [Dean_Sam]

Chuck:

Here are some photos from episode 2x16, "Chuck Vs. The Lethal Weapon." [ChuckTV]

Smallville:

In episode 8x21, "Injustice," Tess' gang of "meteor freaks" includes Bette/Plastique, Fallout, Voltage and Leech... who's a cocky skate punk. Leech "hoovers" Voltage's powers, but then Voltage is killed by an exploding head-chip. Tess' team has been sent to deal with "Godzilla" tearing up downtown, but Chloe wonders if anything Tess told them was true. Plastique says Tess kept her out of Belle Reve, and that's good enough for her. And Leech "hoovers" Clark's powers!

We discover that Oliver has Lex's kryptonite ring, and when Clark confronts Lex about having the ring, we discover Oliver took it from Lex when he killed him (in "Requiem.") Chloe seems to be working with the Injustice Gang, and doesn't seem like her normal self. And Oliver gives Clark something that may help vanquish Doomsday — a goal Tess seems to share. Tess gets hold of the Phantom Zone crystal.

Eventually Leech and the others break free from Tess' influence and say they're going to form their own League to help others. Leech and his friends are going to kill Tess, but the powerless Clark tries to stop them. Oliver attacks Leech with the Kryptonite ring, and Leech is in horrible agony, until he transfers the powers back to Clark. Clark is totally Tess' hero now.

Also, in the season finale, there are more guest heroes, probably some version of the Justice League rather than the Legion. A new set is being built for these guest stars. [KryptonSite and SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[Michel Gondry Directing Green Hornet. Interest: Back]]> Michel Gondry, the master of the ethereal fantastic, is going to be bringing his unique style to Seth Rogen's Green Hornet, and suddenly we care again about the movie Stephen Chow refused to direct.

This is really great news. We've barely been getting by on tiny Gondry hits, from Flight Of The Conchords — but it looks like we won't have to wait much longer for more Gondry movies.

The trades are all abuzz about Michel Gondry signing up where Stephen Chow left off, as the director for the Green Hornet movie. Putting Rogen and Gondry together could be quite a beneficial pairing because Seth Rogen's penchant to go a bit over-the-top might be reeled in slightly with Gondry's understated but still fantastical esthetic. Worst case scenario: Gondry's spin will at least make the Green Hornet character a little more interesting.

But what does this mean for Gondry's "ice that makes you hear music" movie?

<![CDATA[Green Hornet Ain't Dead, But Full Of Adam Sandler]]> Seth Rogen spoke out against the rumors that his Green Hornet project has died, apparently it's doing quite well — as soon as they find a new director. And not only that it's garnering comedian cameos. New rumors are swirling that Adam Sandler will be appearing in the Green Hornet film, "Two different people in the industry told [the LA Times] that Adam Sandler has a brief but key role in the movie as a certain surprise superhero...I heard which one, too, but I don't want to ruin it. Sandler and Rogen have another project together as well." [LA Times]
