    @Bootknife-Jackson: He put's all his weight back on between movies, (not that he's fat, I mean he doesn't stay in super hero physique mode); I read in an Empire interview shortly after Blade Trinity he had a meeting with his agent who was ready to capatilise on his new 'action man body'.

    @Tyrunn: haha yeah it's tough to stay in that kind of shape without living in the gym and eating nothing but chicken and protein shakes. i used to be all P90X-ed out. as soon as you stop that kind of routine you soften up really fast.

    If the focus is on solid acting and solid storytelling, then we will believe a man can fly...with an alien power ring. If the actors create fully realized human beings (or aliens) and not just cardboard "characters" and the director remembers he's telling a story and not just stringing together effects shots, I will excuse bade sfx. On the other hand, bad acting and bad directing tend to call attention to the other problems in the film such as cheap effects. #greenlantern

    I still cannot decide if making the ring flashier will make it more or less believable. I could see how a simple signet ring's ability to "form constructs" would be pretty incredible, but a fiery "power up" in a cloud of green could make me have an outer body experience where I float out of my movie seat and travel back in time to my childhood television set where I used to watch Captain Planet. #greenlantern

    @madara: i dont get the need to make the plane when the ring itself allows flight. the emerald bubble for space travel to keep breathable air is fine, but why fighter jet? probably teh fuck yeah its awesssssoooommmmeee factor. #greenlantern

    @GreyHammer: Cause the ring's constructs reflect the wearer's imagination.

    Hal's a born and bred ace combat pilot, so obviously when he thinks 'flight' or 'space battle' he'd envision doing it in a fighter jet.

    And that's why Kyle as an artist/cartoonist always comes up with really outlandish constructs/solutions to help him with challenges. #greenlantern

    @GreyHammer: With the super hero genre becoming just that, having an actor or actress play multiple big roles isn't too crazy. If super hero movies were still under the radar type movies I would agree, but these movies have been the biggest money makers for a while now.

    Also, kind of creepy "cool kid" in Shakespeare-High School as the Joker, over sexed plastic surgeon as Dr. Doom, murderous skin head as Bruce Banner, albino hitchhiker in desert as Peter Parker, Ice Pirate as Hellboy, crazy coked out dude from Ally McBeal as Tony Stark... all these turned out for the better. Acting is their job and they tend to take it seriously. We should reserve judgment.

    EDIT: I also forgot about ginger kid in Bad News Bear as Rorschach. :)

    @GreyHammer: C'mon, Reynolds finds those roles easier but that's not all he does - he was quite different in the Nines, Definitely Maybe and the Amityville Horror.

    This was exactly the same response the "gay cowboy joker" got. Reserve your judgement and judge the movie on its merits.

    Though frankly overconfidant test pilot doesn't sound a long way from frat boy anyway... #greenlantern

    Ryan reynolds is awesome he made blade 3 tolerable and smokin' aces, he's funny sarcastic and enjoyable line delivery, and to say Ron pearlman is a good actor is like saying Harrison fords as Han Solo, is a an exploration into a man torn apart between his friends and his love of FUCKING MONEY! most of these roles are very one sided characters so acting has little to do with it.

    @GreyHammer: Dude, he was obviously using crappy parts those actors played to make a point. And fans like you have criticized the casting announcements for like every movie adaptation of any beloved property ever. The twin arguments that Reynolds can't play Hal Jordan because he A) already played a comic book character (actually he's played two already) and B) played a character in a film comic book fans loathe cancel each other out. See the film, then criticize his performance. #greenlantern

    @thorshammer: I haven't been impressed with Reynolds work just yet, but I think he certainly has potential.

    The guy took the easier way up by staring in mainstream comedies and romances, but he also has been trying to expand his range as of late by picking up lots of side roles and projects with different genres and credible actors/ directors.

    @GreyHammer: The fact of the matter is, I pretty much agree with you but I have spent so much money on lost bets this past year that I can't help but change my ways a bit. Seriously. I was convinced that Ledger as Joker and Young Kirk were going to incite riots.

    I was so painfully wrong.

    I'm pretty sure Superman, an alien from another planet who protects the planet, is "believable" enough for audiences, an interstellar space cop with a power ring isn't that much further of a stretch.

    I love how Hollywood thinks all of a sudden that sci-fi and super hero movies aren't realistic enough. Some of the greatest sci-fi films of all time were made decades ago. Now, years later with huge advances in what would have been considered rather far fetched technology at that time, we start dumbing down science in movies because "the masses can't handle it."

    Part of the allure of Hollywood films is the suspension of disbelief. If anything, I enjoy a movie that can take me to another world without everything being necessarily realistic moreso than a movie that restrains itself within the confines of my actual worldview because it becomes that much more fantastic.

    I don't know, maybe that's just me. #greenlantern

    I love when directors explain the premise of a well-known superhero, which they were obviously unfamiliar with prior to their involvement in the project.

    "So he's this guy, and he pretends to be this boring clumsy reporter, but really he's an alien from the planet Kryptonite, and he's way way super-strong, and really really fast. Oh, and he can fly, too." #greenlantern

    I think a great deal of this movie's success is going to hinge on getting the right shade of green.

    Too bright, and it's "Highlighters in Space". Too dark and it's "Snot Amongst the Stars"

    @moifauxmail: Don't know if someone said before but I think David Boreanaz would have been a very good Hal Jordan.
    For Hal Jordan I think we need a mature-type guy and of course, NOT Ryan Reynolds.

    @themidnighter: I didn't say anything about making the ring stuff look good or not, first off. Secondly, Alien resurrection looks good but it strayed far from the world which the series existed in leaving you with a crappy movie. Look at a succesful super hero movies and tell me what made them good. Interesting characters existing in a world that while not real feels like it is, due to great writing. Go to bed. #greenlantern

    The whole point of the Blackest Night is that it's attacking the issue that death isn't permanent in comics. It's trying to address that issue specifically by making it more public and trying to seal it as a concrete thing. Will it keep? Probably not. It's a good attempt to fix things though. #blackestnight
