Well, let's see...I thought Watchmen was a pretty good read, but I'm not so enthralled by it that the movie must needs disappoint me. It looks like it could be a fun watch, so that's out. I haven't heard any credible praise for Dollhouse yet, so about the only way it could possibly disappoint me is if it becomes the longest-running series in the history of primetime TV, so that's out as well. I don't watch nBSG, so there's zero disappointment potential there. MvA looks like it could be amusing, so I can't vote for that. I have no emotional investment in Fanboy at present, so even if I decide to watch it there's not any real potential for disappointment (and that _is_ the basis for this poll, as I understand it). I continue to enjoy Lost, probably because I'm genuinely interested in finding out how it will end instead of projecting my desires for how _I_ think it should end, so I wouldn't dream of voting for that. So that pretty much pares it down to the last two. Now, since I know there will be at least one thing on this list that will suck balls with cream-of-balls sauce on top, I can't honestly vote for the "all going to be great" choice (remember, just because something isn't great doesn't mean it must be a letdown, if you had no illusions of potential quality to start with), and I'm pretty sure that there will be at least one unmentioned spring release that won't be as fun to watch as it was to anticipate.
@AngryEddy: No, no, I actually saw an ad for it the other day. On TV, even. So there's a very real chance that it exists (either that or io9 has a huge practical joke budget...).
OK, I'm still confused as to the point of filming Watchmen.
Is it going to bring hidden levels of meaning to the text? Er, no.
Is it going to improve upon the story? Again, no.
Is it going to come anywhere close to being as deep as the original? Sadly, no. Unless you want to buy the DVD for the pirate comic.
I know I sound like a hater, but it just seems a rather pointless adaptation --- it's not like there's any great sequences in the book that cry out for moving picture versions.
Movie adaptations almost never add to or improve on their source material.
I'm not coming down on either side of the argument, I'm just saying that's not really a valid rubric for determining why stories get movie adaptations.
Watchmen. No amount of detailed sets matter if you miss the point of the thing. Zack Snyder fills me with no confidence whatsoever, the people who think that adapting 300 somehow equates to being able to adapt Watchmen make me wonder if even the greatest comics remain ghettoised.
Of course nothing could replicate the book anyway, but you could still say something with a film. However I will be pleasantly surprised if Watchmen doesn't suck.
@MrTambourineMan: Wow. Saying that about Snyder is pretty pompous, and a little bit ignorant. Making a film so visually sophisticated and interesting out of material so simple is a really difficult thing. All you have are two sides fighting in a bunch of rocks, and somehow Snyder made parts of it absolutely captivating to watch.
I think he'll do a fine job with Watchmen. And as for why it's being made into a movie? Well a better question is WHY NOT make it into a movie? What's stopping you?
Wow, which one is gonna be a let-down? What happened to the breath of fresh air otherwise know as Hope or Change that's going around these days? This is the beginning of a new era of positivity, is it not? No downers now, Hope, Hope, Hope all the way!
I don't understand this article. it says it's going to talk about why the watchmen movie may be delayed or derailed and then does nothing to prove its point or even talk about the watchmen movie or why or how fox plans on delaying or derailing it.
If you're going to tell the reader you're gonig to talk about something in an article, how about you actually discuss the thing you say you're going to talk about and not 14 other things that have nothing to do with the article or watchmen.
HOW is fox planning on delaying or derailing the watchmen movie? You say it seems "obvious" HOW does it seem obvious. A link to why you say this would be helpful.
@NaomiEspiahi: Sorry, I should have linked back to our previous coverage. We've written so much, in the past few days, about how Fox is seeking to stop Watchmen from coming out, I sort of assumed all our readers would know. That was a dumb assumption on my part, especially since we aim to be a reader-friendly site that's not just for the faithful few. My bad. I'll add those links now.

Elections over. It's time to lay off the campaign talk so people will have forgotten it in another three years.
