Flash Forward episode 10 actually aired already in Australia, so of course it's already all over the usual sites for people who are interested.

It's pretty good... compared to the other FF episodes anyhow, but shit actually happens, and we get quite a few answers.

    So not to shabby overall.

"(And am I the only person who spent the last episode waiting for a big lizard reveal, only to be thwarted? They even talked about skinning an alien just to tease us, the bastards)

Seeing as how it was already revealed they were lizards, I wasn't disappointed.

What I'm hoping for is that Anna is part of a mammoth warning plot where she has already turned against her whole race and wants to save earth, and that she'll reveal her real motives to the fifth column once the revealed BIG fleet is in range. I'm not holding my breath. It's probably going to be stupid.

I'm not really intrigued by Alice. "NEW, MODERN, EDGY, OOOH!" if you want to be new, modern, and edgy, make something new, modern, and edgy.

I really liked Tin Man but I am not so sure about Alice. On the other hand it was several actors I really enjoy watching.

Dollhouse's coming back! Yes, I know that I'm only 1 of 7 people who are excited about it but I don't care!

Neon Genesis Evangelion. The damn writers/producers couldn't think of a way to end that train wreck except by killing off the whole damn cast. They should have just ended it with Kaworu Nagisa and success of the Human Instrumentality Project....if not sooner.

@Vulcan Has No Moon: I liked the ending for one simple fact: I hated every last character on the show. Oh I was enthralled by it and couldn't stop watching it until I'd seen every last scrap of the shows and movies but, they seemed to be great examples of humanities selfishness and propensity to destroy itself. On the one hand I hated Shinji's father but also couldn't stand Shinji's whining.

@Alvarez: Actually, I don't really care they killed everyone, just that it seemed like they had run into a brick wall with the story and took an easy out. Like they never planned the story arc out to the end. It's like the writers got together and said, "Show got cancelled, and we've got an hour to rap this up. Any ideas on how to tie up all the loose ends?" "Let's just kill everyone off." "Cool!" and then everyone knocked off early for lunch.

Pan's Labyrinth brings me terrible memories. I thought it was a fantasy movie, not a horror one, and I invited this girl I had a huge crush on on a date to see it.

As the movie unfolded, all I could think of was how scared my date was and how she must have thought that I enjoyed bloody violent horror movies.

To her credit, she took it well and laughed at my later attempts to apologize for taking her to such a sadistic movie.

In the end, through dinner and all, we had a great time but we both would have liked to have enjoyed the movie too, which neither of us did.

@KirkVox: Interesting since he was born there and lived there till he was 8 or 10 -- it's his native accent.

His American is a little dodgy, still.

@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: It might be his native accent, but I think most people will pretty much permanently switch to a new accent as long as they move away before roughly the age of 12. I mean, I suppose an English accent is technically my native accent, although I'm in a slightly different boat than John Barrowman because I left when I was 3. Even so, my default American accent noticeably slips when I'm talking with my English parents for sustained periods, often to the amusement of any friends around to witness it.

My point? None, really, other than I find accents really fascinating, and the mechanics of John Barrowman's dual accents seem particularly bizarre. In an entirely wonderful way, of course.

@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: I played this clip for my wife who was also born and lived in Scotland 'til she was 10 (coincidentally). She couldn't tell his accent and we go back and forth to Scotland every other year or so. Her accent is also pretty weak when it slips out and kinda embarrassing when she tries to put it on for her family and Scot friends (for fun of course). No slight to Barrowman. We love him. The fact that he's Scottish is a nice bonus!

One of my personal favorites are the homey, friendly interspersed feast scenes in the Buffy episode "The Body". You're never sure if the scenes ever actually took place or if they're a dreamish metaphor, but they counterpoint her mother's death with cheerful sweetness in emotionally horrifying fashion. The entire piece is devoid of supernatural elements, setting it so outside the general fantastic nature of the show that is holds incredible punch.

Another favorite feast scene involves Sam and Dean in Supernatural; the episode "Jump the Shark" is a standout episode in every respect. The elements of family and feasting are prevalent, even if they're twisted by the ghouls.

And finally, the all in all creepiest Thanksgiving moment in TV history, for my money goes to that canceled weirdfest Millennium. I remember watching it near Thanksgiving on broadcast TV back in 98 or 99. I thought I was still on the standard Thanksgiving commercials so I was only paying half attention waiting for the show to start back up - the people were bright and cheerful, the turkey was on the table, everyone was smiling, then wham! They all started to bleed out of every orifice - eyes, nose, ears, etc. It gave me a serious case of the wiggins, messing around with the concepts we hold of "reality" on TV versus "storytelling".
