    I thought Trekmon looked a lot like these things from Lost Planet...

    Maybe it's just the snowy setting

    I keep getting really excited hearing things about Star Trek.

    Then someone reminds me that J.J. Abrams is involved, and then someone mentions Cloverfield. That makes me sad. Here's hoping he doesn't decide that "No plot, no answers, no reason to watch" is the right way to make a Star Trek film.

    @Alchemistmerlin: I wouldnt say cloverfield had no plot. It was fantastic upto the end, and then when it ended it sucked.

    I thought it was going to do something clever with the video-cuts but nooo :-/

    @twDarkflame:

    So, the movie stuck with its premise and didn't cop out.

    Sorry it didn't do what you wanted it to.

    It ended exactly how it needed to.

    They are designed by the same person, and like all the other production design in the movie, it looks rushed, unoriginal, and completely forgettable.

    But if you liked Cloverfield, you probably aren't very discerning.

    I am all for continuity between Cloverfield and Star Trek. Maybe in the next one they can tear around the sun and go back in time to present day NYC and Cloverfield II and Star Trek II can be THE SAME MOVIE!!!

    Nah, Clovie has those distinctive air pouches on the sides of his head. Trekmon's got nothing.

    Clover (or Clovie, whatev') came from somewhere, and based on the "pod crashing into the ocean" on the Cloverfied videotape, it came from outer space.

    Trekmon is probably a long lost sibling.
