Loni Anderson Explains About the Time Hulk Cried

When you look back at the 1970s TV series The Incredible Hulk, with Lou Ferrigno playing the big green guy, you feel in your bones how wrong it is to make the upcoming movie version of the monster CGI. How could any CGI creation ever capture the pathos in this scene, where Hulk cries over a nice murdered lady and witness Loni Anderson narrates? I love the extremely broad range of emotions that cross Loni's face. More »

The Real Reason Iron Man Will Crush The Hulk At The Box Office

Even if July's Incredible Hulk movie does better than expected, there's no way it'll do as well as Iron Man, the Robert Downey Jr. film that looks like this summer's Transformers. But the green world-beater's lack of supremacy isn't just due to all the reasons people have cited: less impressive effects, slower buzz, creative spats. It's also just because Iron Man is relevant to today's world, and the Hulk isn't. More »

We're All Friends In Hulk-Land, Says Edward Norton

Marvel — and Edward Norton — are rushing to do damage control on reports that a feud between them is sinking this summer's Incredible Hulk movie. And yet their efforts to clear the air are only making things worse. A new Entertainment Weekly article touches on the fact that Norton is refusing to do interviews to promote Hulk, which he co-wrote and starred in. Sources, including director Louis Leterrier, tell EW that the feud was only a friendly creative dispute, until the press started reporting it as something bigger — and then Norton and Marvel stopped talking to each other. Creative infighting between Edward Norton and Marvel, and weak buzz about the first trailer, have many observers predicting the Incredible Hulk will be the summer's biggest bomb. Even Stan Lee, the Hulk's co-creator, doesn't think it'll do as well as Iron Man, which has supreme buzz and fans drooling over every clip. More »

At Least Your Daddy Issues Don't Involve The Hulk

With their upcoming series Skaar: Son of Hulk, Marvel Comics seem to have come up with one solution for two different problems: How to give long-term fans the illusion of character evolution without changing the original status quo too much, and how to build on the traditionally low-selling Hulk franchise in time for this summer's movie. Tease The Hulk And Live To Tell The Tale

The first teaser trailer for the Incredible Hulk movie comes out Wednesday night, and here's a 15-second sneak peek. It's brief, but it does show a brief bit of HULK SMASH! goodness, and Norton comes within a hair's breadth of saying "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Check back late on Wednesday for the actual trailer. [Slashfilm]

The Biggest (And Longest) Movie Summer Ever The summer movie season now officially begins in early May, thanks to last year's blockbuster May releases: Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. This May, there are no fewer than 23 movies coming out, including "tentpole" films Iron Man, Speed Racer, Narnia and Indiana Jones. And the schedule is overcrowded with wannabe blockbusters all summer long, raising the chances that we'll see some high-profile flops. [Variety]

Welcome back to New Comics We Crave, a weekly column about what comics to buy on Wednesday, written by our resident Comics Czar, Graeme McMillan. Way to go, Marvel. io9 Talks to "World War Hulk" and BSG Comics Writer Greg Pak

Now Pak is writing comics, including the recent World War Hulk and a Battlestar Galactica miniseries. He talked to us about movies, comics and the inner lives of robots. (Minor BSG: Razor and comics spoilers) More »
