    Smarter is great and all, but can it make it so I don't spend all afternoon wasting my time on the internet? Or maybe just make it so that I can waste my time more efficiently?

    I can understand how this would work to replace damages neural connections for sight, sound etc. And that is great! It is quite an achievement. However, there is quite a difference between replicating something and improving something. Exactly how is this technology supposed to "enhance cognitive functions"? It seems to be talking about repairing faulty cognitive functioning, not improving healthy cognition.


    In other words, there is no indication whatsoever that this tech can be used to improve the functioning of a normal brain. This is just about the improvement of degraded or otherwise abnormal brains.


    So this isn't about the average person being 'smarter', or having 'super' sight, hearing, reflexes, etc. It is about treating maladies.

    @Mount_Prion: Yeah, try to avoid installations which have "silent updates." You never know what Google might try to get you to download. Next time you think about flying somewhere, you'll get ads for Virgin Airlines popping up in your thoughts.
