Extrapolation is pretty useless measure when you have no idea what your extrapolating.
With global warming at least we know for sure that CO2 *does* trap heat, and while the overall climite system is complex, it makes sense that the more that is up there the more that is trapped in total.
But ice-ages?
It could be to do with orbits, dust clouds, terrestral weather paturns, the sun....anything.
Untill we know what cause's them, we cant say at all how current conditions effect it.

And for those people that are skeptical its getting hotter, simply think of it this way;
Oil is a finite resource being used up, it will never be replaced. When it runs out, countries that relay on it for food distribution (like the US), will face mass starvation. In order to servive they will need fast and huge investment in alternative distribution.
Ergo, getting of Oil as smoothly and as gradualy as possible is best for all concerned...even if you ignore the climete alltogether.

Meanwhile, the above story is more like speculation combined with computer modeling. It is in no way comparable. That's like saying my pet free-energy theory is as correct as quantum mechanics.

"Global climate change is an observed fact."
Correct.
" Thousands of scientists have done research on the topic and the evidence is irrefutable. It's being caused by human activity, and will affect us in long-term and unpredictable ways."
You're considerably overstating here, though.
Overhyping doesn't help anything.

The evidence that it's caused by human activity has also become irrefutable. Get with the times.

And that's just what the nutjobs will quote and leave it there. "Scientist proves CO2 is good for us!" Way to go, journalism.

Although, giant sand dunes do look rather cool. I remember I saw a picture in my history book in middle school of some middle eastern city, and behind it was a giant sand dune that was so big it looked like a mountain. Alas, I haven't been able to find that picture since. :(
