Plus telltale pics from Dollhouse, Repo Men, Battle: Los Angeles and Doctor Who. Also: Swamp Thing, Elm St., Lobo and Chuck.

Inception:

Here's a giant concrete building in Alberta that 40 construction workers and carpenters spent three months building for the filming of this Christopher Nolan mindfreak saga.[Calgary Herald]

Lost:

Here's a new fairy-tale-themed trailer. (Still with no new footage.)

One of these things is going to happen early in the final season: Sayid kills Jack, or Sayid dies. (I'm guessing it's Sayid dies, but only in one of the two timelines, meaning we still get alternate-universe Sayid.) [E! Online]

Josh Holloway hints we'll see Sawyer try and track down his daughter Clementine, in the universe where Sawyer's off the island. "That's something I would like to see. Even if they don't meet, his intention to meet her would be important to me. To see him off the island with her name and address on a piece of paper." [TV Guide Magazine]

Doctor Who:

Here are some pics from the scene you've already seen, featuring June Whitfield grabbing the Doctor's butt. [BlogtorWho]

Repo Men:

Here's a new still and a new poster from this artiforg-repo movie. [IGN]

Battle: Los Angeles:

We already featured a slew of set pics from this movie, but here's a pic of Aaron Eckhart in his uniform. [Jonathan Hoff on Flickr via Slashfilm]

Swamp Thing:

Producer Joel Silver says he's hoping to make this film soon — in 3-D — but don't hold your breath for Wonder Woman. [MTV]

Lobo:

This is another movie that Silver is hoping to get done soon — but rumored director Guy Ritchie says it's definitely not a done deal that he's directing it. [MTV]

Nightmare On Elm St.:

Is this movie in trouble, or just being fastidious? A second round of reshoots is happening, including a funeral scene that required extras to portray mourners. [Cinemablend]

Dollhouse:

Wondering who's back in the third-to-last and second-to-last episodes? Just about everybody, judging from these new pics. [SpoilerTV]

Chuck:

Here are a few clips from the season opener, "Chuck Vs. The Pink Slip". [Yvonne Strahovski Fansite]

Here are summaries of the first three episodes:

Chuck Vs. The Pink Slip/Chuck Vs. The Three Words: Chuck flunks out of spy school and loses Sarah; Morgan tries to help Chuck get over Sarah; Chuck tries to talk to Sarah about their relationship.

Chuck Versus the Angel of Death: Chuck must protect a visiting dictator from an assassination threat; Awesome is excited about the idea of being a spy

[MSN TV]

And here are some new cast interviews and snippets:

Heroes:

Here's the official synopsis for the Jan. 11 episode, "Close To You":

H.R.G. exposes Samuel's biggest weakness in an attempt to take him down; Ando and Hiro try to save Dr. Suresh.

<![CDATA[Chris Nolan's New Inception Trailer Could Give Batman Nightmares]]> The French trailer for Chris Nolan's highly anticipated Inception is out, bringing with it the darkness and melodramatic score we love, plus an extra dose of surrealism. Watch the world literally fold over on itself. Could this beat Dark Knight?

Any help translating would be wonderful, but what we can see is an exceedingly pissed-off Joseph Gordon-Levitt, backing a cab into...something. Ken Watanabe waking from his sleep, ready to shoot someone. In fact there are lots of people around beds, looks like the "people entering each other's dreams" theory of this movie's plot is holding up. Leo sits in a cafe while the world explodes around him, and doesn't flinch. More water imagery, and way more Leo freaking out scenes. Can't wait for the English version!

<![CDATA[Discover The Secrets Of Inception, X-Men: First Class, Doctor Who And Lost!]]> Yay spoilers! Bryan Singer breaks down X-Men: First Class for us, and eyewitnesses describe a new Inception trailer. Plus a blow-by-blow Doctor Who description, and Lost set video. Plus Toy Story 3, Supernatural, Chuck and Heroes spoilers!

X-Men: First Class:

This movie is "basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto," says Bryan Singer. And it means you may never get to see the planned Magneto origin movie. "This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust." And he says he's still working on a big-screen Battlestar Galactica movie, but he hasn't found a writer yet. [Heat Vision Blog]

Inception:

Here's a new poster for this Christopher Nolan epic. [MTV]

And apparently a new trailer is appearing in front of Sherlock Holmes, and there are some early descriptions. You hear a voiceover: "What's the most resilient form of parasite? An idea. An idea has the power to build a city… to change the world, and re-write all the rules." And then lots of weird imagery zips past, like a city block folding upwards into an L shape, and a train racing down a street and smashing into cars, and people fighting in mid-air, and a motorcycle racing a car. Then the voiceover turns into Leonardo DiCaprio holding a gun and saying "That's why I have to steal it." ("It" meaning the aforementioned world-changing idea.) And there's lots of people fighting and water imagery. [Slashfilm]

Despicable Me:

Here's a new poster for this animated supervillain epic. [Cinemablend]

Toy Story 3:

Here's some "color script" art, designed to show off how the colors in the film are supposed to look, most of it from the film's flashback sequences. [Slashfilm]

Doctor Who:

Virgin Media has posted a "Viewmaster" type slide show of the first 20 minutes or so of "The End Of Time Part 1." The pictures are mostly old, but the spoilers are pretty intense. As the story begins, everyone on Earth is having nightmares, but only Wilf can remember what they're about — and he realizes he needs the Doctor's help. Meanwhile, the Doctor visits the Ood and they say that they, too, are having nightmares — about the Master.

The Master's widow, Lucy Saxon, gets brought to visit the new governor of her prison, only to find out he's an imposter, one of her ex-husband's acolytes. Using that fateful ring, they resurrect the Master, but he comes back damaged and more insane than ever. He roams a junkyard, scaring the residents. The Doctor, meanwhile, rushes to Earth and uses his super-power of smell to "sniff" out the Master. (No, really. He smells him.) They talk, and the Doctor insists he just wants to help, but the Master is too deranged. And finally he runs away.

Wilf enlists the aid of a bunch of senior citizens, called the Silver Curtain, to track the Doctor down. They talk, and the Doctor realizes that Wilf must be special, since he keeps connecting with the Doctor. The Doctor tells Wilf to tell him anything he knows, and Wilf mentions Donna brought home a strange book by Joseph Naismith. They decide to track this Naismith down, in the TARDIS.

But Naismith, with his paramilitary army, have already captured the Master, who's in bondage. It turns out that Naismith has something called the Immortality Gate, which can heal whole worlds, and he wants the Master to fix it. The Doctor appears in Naismith's basement, and meets two members of the Vinvocci species, Rossiter and Addams, who brought the Immortality Gate there. The Doctor runs upstairs, just in time to see the Master step into the Gate. And then everyone cries out, shouting that the Master is in their heads... [Virgin Media]

The Master actually "takes over the world again," says John Simm. [Planet Gallifrey]

Lost:

So yesterday we showed you some pics of a fight scene between Jin and Mikhail, and now here's a bit of video, courtesy of the same eyewitness, Darin the Pharmacist. [TV Overmind]

Also, apparently the fact that Maggie Grace won't be in the early episodes of season six (despite the alternate timeline where Flight 815 lands safely) will be explained. Not only does the plane land safely, but the repercussions from the nuke going off mean that both Shannon and Boone are very different people than the ones we know. Their backstory will be significantly altered. And also, Sawyer kisses either Kate or Juliet within the first four hours of the season. [E! Online]

And here are a couple new teasers. [Slashfilm]

Supernatural:

Sam and Dean will die and go to heaven. [E! Online]

FlashForward:

Confused? Don't be. Or do, if you prefer. But if you don't like being confused, then ABC is there for you.

Chuck:

There may be a secret passage leading out of the media room at the Buy More. And Chuck will make out with Kristen Kreuk's character, like a couple of teenagers. [E! Online]

Carina returns in episode 3x02 and it's awesome. Also in that episode, Casey gets to go undercover as someone other than a waiter, with amusing results. Episode 3x03 is a combined Devon/Casey episode, which gives insights into both their pasts. And we meet Shaw in episode 3x04. Also, Kreuk's introduction is "more organic" than fans may have feared. [ChuckTV]

Heroes:

Sally Champlin, who plays Lynette, Tweeted that she has a scene opposite George Takei in episode 4x15, "Pass/Fail." [SpoilerTV]

And here's a new promo for the next two episodes:

<![CDATA[Check Out New Iron Man 2 Footage. True Blood Gets Its Werewolf and Doctor Who Revisits an Old Enemy.]]> Tony Stark loses his head in Iron Man 2 footage. True Blood finally casts the werewolf Alcide, and the Eleventh Doctor will inherit one of the Tenth Doctor's most popular enemies. Plus Inception, Toy Story, Forbidden Planet, and Chuck spoilers.

Iron Man 2

Entertainment Tonight premiered a few moments from the film, including a scene where Pepper kisses Iron Man (well, his helmet, anyway). [via Cinema Blend]

Forbidden Planet

As if he doesn't have enough on his plate, James Cameron has confirmed that he's "actively involved" in J. Michael Straczynski's project. But apparently he hasn't made any decisions about what his role will be. [MTV]

Inception

We get our first one-sheet for Chris Nolan's mysterious thriller. Apparently, the crime scene inside Leonardo DiCaprio's mind has a plumbing issue. [/Film]

Toy Story 3

A new pic shows the toys heading off to their new home. Check out the full-sized image at Empire Magazine.

Sherlock Holmes

If you've always wondered what goes on the set of a Guy Ritchie movie, Cinema Blend has a bunch of behind-the-scenes clips. [Cinema Blend]

Rec 2

Here's the Italian trailer for the sequel to the Spanish plague film. [via ShockTillYouDrop]

Doctor Who

The Angels will have the phone box once again. Steven Moffat has revealed that the creepy Weeping Angels from "Blink" will return in the next season. [Blogtor Who]

Also, the Tenth Doctor wishes you a Merry Christmas in a pair of station identifications. [Planet Gallifrey]

True Blood

The casting directors have been very busy lately. Joe Manganiello, who has had recurring roles on One Tree Hill and How I Met Your Mother, landed one of the season's key parts — that of the heroic werewolf Alcide. [E!]

Eric's dancing lover has also been cast. Natasha Alam will play the Fangtasia employee who takes up with the blond viking. And Gregg Daniel has been cast as Reverend Daniels, spiritual adviser to Tara's mom (and object of her affections). [EW]

But that's not all! Sam and Lafayette are both getting new parental units. Cooper Huckabee will be introduced in the season's second episode as Joe Lee Mickens, Sam's father, and multiple Emmy Award-winner Alfre Woodard is signing on as Lafayette's mom. [ShockTillYouDrop, ShockTillYouDrop]

Lost

As promised, there's no new footage in the pre-premiere promos, but relive the previous seasons' tragedies to "Amazing Grace." [via /Film]

More news from the sets. At the Diamond Head Stage, Desmond, Mikhail, and Sayid are going to be getting wet. At an airport, Sun and Jin were seen going through customs. [DarkUFO]

And here are few more of the casual wear promo pictures. [Lyly Ford]

Chuck

Zachary Levi promises that Chuck's cool new powers (including fluency in Thai) won't change the klutzy heart of the show. Armand Asante will be playing the leader of the Costa Gravas, a sort of Castro-like figure. Chuck gets stuck on an airplane with Stone Cold Steve Austin's bad guy character. According to the creators, Brandon Routh and Kristin Kreuk's characters will be more than romantic obstacles for Chuck and Sarah, and that they will be connected to the larger mythology of the show. Kreuk's character Hannah will set multiple hearts aflutter at the Buy More, and that's just one issue the store has to deal with. Buy More will contend with cutbacks and management overthrows, and will get a new assistant manager. [Cinema Blend]

Chuck goes kung fu in Converse sneakers in a new Season Three poster.

Meanwhile, the set photos show Chuck giving Brandon Routh a lift. [Socialite Life]

And NBC has more promos to get you ready for the new season. [via Spoiler TV]

Still want more Chuck? In a new special preview feature, the cast talks about the new season.

And Zachary Levi is excited to get back to superspying.

Smallville

More details have emerged on the two-hour Justice Society movie. Apparently, the first episode starts with a death, which sets Clark's encounter with the JSA in motion. But one member has a special interest in clark. Says Britt Irvin of her character Stargirl:

"She has a special connection with Clark because he reminds her a lot of her mentor," says the actress. What's more, when the JSA gets wind (via Dr. Fate) of Clark's destiny, Stargirl realizes "he's very important for mankind."

Irvin also says that her mysterious mentor will make an appearance (as a corpse?), and that Stargirl and Hawkman will have some friction with Green Arrow in the beginning. [Fancast]

<![CDATA[Michael Caine Reveals His Inception Role, And Lost's Emilie de Ravin Gets A Weird New Island Role]]> Michael Caine drops a huge Inception spoiler! Sam Raimi talks Venom! 2012's ending revealed! A Lost character's surprising new side! Spoilers are life-altering, and Star Trek 2, Supernatural, The Road, Twilight, Stargate, FlashForward and Fringe are embracing the spoiler lifestyle.

Inception:

Michael Caine spills the beans about what part he plays in Christopher Nolan's first post-The Dark Knight` project:

I play a professor who's teaching a guy science. It's Leonardo diCaprio. He's going off to do a science project and he speaks to me before he goes.

But it sounds like he's only in the film for a few brief moments.[Empire Online]

Venom:

Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi, not surprisingly, has no clue whether this spin-off will take place in the same "universe" as his movies. (The same universe as in the same continuity — I'm fairly sure the laws of physics will apply, more or less, in both films.) [MTV]

Star Trek 2:

Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman give another vague interview. This time around, they hint that there will be more exposure for characters other than Kirk and Spock in movie #2:

Kurtzman: For sure. In a sequel, you have even more of that burden, because the first movie is about introducing characters, but the second movie is about digging deeper into them. So you've got to make sure your story is giving everyone a moment… More than a moment. An arc.

Orci: We've always thought of the bridge crew as a family, so it's not just, "What are we gonna find for them?" It's part of the DNA of doing Star Trek right, I think - to make sure all the characters represent a significant part of the family.

[IGN via TrekWeb]

The Road:

Here's the final poster for this apocalptic funfest. [Cinemablend]

2012:

This new Adam Lambert music video seems to include some scenes from what must be the end of this movie, showing John Cusack and company emerging from storage containers unharmed. [Cinemablend]

Twilight:

Jackson Rathbone says Jasper Cullen's Civil War flashbacks in Eclipse don't take up quite as much time as they do in the book, but it's nice to see Jasper when he was still a bad dude. Also, as in the book, Jasper's the only one who knows how to combat the vampire army being raised by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard). [MTV]

Also, director Chris Weitz says New Moon will follow the book's storyline, so we won't see that much of Edward. (Nooo!):

We didn't want to shoehorn him into the story. I did alter the visuals of the story in the sense that in the book, Kristen [Stewart]'s character has aural hallucinations — she hears his voice — and we've built in a very beautiful subtle effect so that we see him as well. But those are brief, if impactful, moments. A lot of the film is sustained by her loss and Taylor [Lautner]'s character bringing her back to life.

[IGN]

Lost:

Emilie de Ravin will be in every episode of season six, and we'll find out what happened to her. And we'll be seeing a different version of Claire — one that's more Rousseau-ish. As for the real Rousseau, we won't be seeing her in the final season — the producers asked Mira Furlan to return for the final season, but she turned them down due to a prior commitment. [EW]

Also, episode six is called "Sundown" and probably revolves around Sun and/or Jin. The show seems to be copying season one's pattern of character-centric episodes, but probably that will change with episode seven — unless we're really getting a Charlie-centric outing. [SpoilersLost]

Fringe:

We may not have seen the last of Charlie, since his duplicate in the alternate world is still running around. The show got rid of him because the producers wanted to get out of the FBI offices and more underground. And by the same token, we may not be seeing that much of new FBI character Special Agent Jessup (Meghan Markle) in the upcoming episodes — she's available if the show wants her, but she may not turn up that often, by the sound of things. We'll be getting to know our core characters more. Also, we may meet Olivia's evil stepfather this season. [EW]

Supernatural:

You won't have to wait much longer for the big showdown. Sam and Dean fight Lucifer in episode 10, and two characters die! [EW]

FlashForward:

Three sneak peeks from tonight's episode, "Gimme Some Truth":

Stargate Universe:

Just how angry is Sgt. Ronald Greer? Let Jamil Walker Smith explain:

And here's a sneak peek from Friday's new episode, "Light."

Sanctuary:

And a clip from tomorrow night's new episode, "Eulogy." Put those two episode titles together, you've got a Funkadelic song title.

Smallville:

In the episode called "Disciple," Steve Bacic will play The Dark Archer (bwa ha ha ha) who's Green Arrow's mentor and teaches him everything there is to know about archery. And darkness. Fans are speculating this is the same character as Merlyn The Archer from the comics. Also, Emilie Ullerup will play Cat Grant, and she appears in episode six, "Crossfire," the episode that also introduces Speedy. [ComicBookMovie and ComicBookMovie]

Heroes:

Here's the official description of episode 4x08, "Shadowboxing":

Claire is determined to get to the bottom of the attacks; H.R.G. realizes he may be the source of Claire's troubles; Peter's new ability is the perfect fit for his job; Sylar's battle at gaining full control of Matt's body escalates.

<![CDATA[Spoilers And Surprises From Captain America, Inception, Lost, Sarah Jane And FlashForward!]]> Spoilers may ruin New Moon and get Cameron Diaz banned from Twitter, but they're life-enriching. Captain America's movie isn't what you think, and neither is Cowboys And Aliens. More mysterious Lost set pics! Plus Inception and John Carter Of Mars.

Captain America:

Marvel's Joe Quesada says he's seen a couple outlines and an initial screenplay, and (not surprisingly) he liked them. He also said, "It's very unexpected, the kind of movie it is." (Meaning, it's not a war movie with superhero overtones, wrapped in a mad-science plot device?) And he says this movie sets up the Avengers movie "in a fantastic way." And there's a wish list of actors to play the star-spangled Steve Rogers. [Comic Book Resources]

Inception:

Talulah Riley, who plays the character referred to as "Blonde" in the cast list, says she takes part in some of the weird altered-physics scenes you glimpsed in the trailer, where people are going sideways and upside-down. "I get tilted." She says she gets scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Ken Watanabe. [Sci Fi Wire]

And here's a set pic showing DiCaprio and Ellen Page during filming in Paris, looking utterly ordinary. More at the link. [SplashNews via Cinemablend]

Cowboys And Aliens:

Co-writer Roberto Orci describes a key concern in adapting this graphic novel to the big screen:

How do you make it so it's not too funny? You hear the title Cowboys & Aliens and think, what is it? Is it Wild, Wild West? The exact same structure and story can kill you if you have the wrong tone. That's the hard part." As Kurtzman noted, "It's not a comedy. What we came to is imagine you're watching Unforgiven and then the aliens from Alien land.

[IGN via ComicBookResources]

John Carter Of Mars:

Willem Dafoe, who plays the many-limbed Tars Tarkas, says "I know there's a period where we're going to work with movement and language." (No clue what that means.) And he say the film is political, the same way Tarzan isn't just about loincloths. [MTV]

The Fourth Kind:

How many kinds of intriguing are these new stills? Four, possibly? [IGN]

Lost:

No news is good news for Sawyer, who isn't facing any terrible maladies or other mishaps in the final season, as far as semi-informed sources know. [E! Online]

There are a ton of set reports. The show is building yet another new set — an old-looking struture at the top of the Lighthouse trail — and it may actually be the base of a lighthouse, or some other island station. Part of the building may be added later using CG.

Meanwhile, those photos we showed you the other day, of Matthew Fox in front of a building with concert banners hanging down? Apparently that building is being turned into Central Intermediate School. And Jack had scenes with a new character, Dogen (Hiroyuki Sanada) who is one of the the show's "new Others." (And good to see the show continues its tradition of naming characters after famous thinkers.) So it's interesting that one of these Others is off the island. Also, Jack and Hurley had some beach scenes with Jacob.

And finally, Fox also filmed some scenes at the Institute of Astronomy, reportedly involving Jack's estranged mother. More pics at the link. [Hawaii Weblog]

Co-creator Damon Lindelof was interviewed on a local radio station, and a caller expressed a concern that Juliet and Kate aren't kicking as much ass as they used to. Lindelof replied that if you like the badass versions of Kate and Juliet, you'll really love the show's final season. Man, here's hoping. [Lyly Ford]

Sarah Jane Adventures:

A nice new pic from the upcoming David Tennant appearance. If you don't give a quiet "W00t" when you see this pic, there is no hope for you. [David Tennant News via Doctor Who on LJ]

V:

Another new promo, focusing on Father Jack.

Supernatural:

Anna will definitely be back. Soon, we hope. [E! Online]

FlashForward:

Dominic Monaghan says episode six (airing next week) is his big episode. And his character, Simon, gets pretty messed up. Also, you'll be shocked and amazed to hear the show will keep going deeper into the rabbit hole, and spinning out more mysteries, as the season goes on, and then things will start coming together again by season's end. [E! Online]

Here's a sneak peek from this week's episode, "Gimme Some Truth" [FlashForward.pl]

Heroes:

Do you care? If you do, apparently the guy who dies is the one person many people think could never bite the dust. (So, probably not Nathan or Hiro. My money's on Sylar or Matt.) [E! Online]

<![CDATA[More Asgardian Heroes for Thor? Apocalyptic Images from BSG: The Plan, And More of Summer Glau in Dollhouse!]]> Casting slides reveal more of Thor's divine helpers. Witness more Colonial destruction from BSG: The Plan. More pictures show Summer Glau inside the Dollhouse, and Smallville's Justice Society gets three new members. Plus 2012, Inception, Supernatural, Eclipse, and Doctor Parnassus.

Inception

Cillian Murphy has apparently read the Inception script. His thoughts? Excited but vague:

"It's conceptual. It doesn't fit into any genre," he explained. "There are elements of different types of things in it but it is all from Chris' imagination. I've never read anything close to it before."

[MTV Movies Blog]

Thor

An eagle-eyed reporter noticed Dominic Cooper was reading casting slides for Thor. Although Cooper cautioned that nothing has been finalized, the part he was reading for is Fandral the Dashing, a member of the Warriors Three, a team of Asgardians who fight alongside Thor. So we might be seeing the trio (and Cooper) in the movie. [Movieline]

Stan Lee is disappointed that Kenneth Branagh didn't consider him for the role of Odin, though he will have a cameo in Thor. [Collider]

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan

The TV Obsessed has another spoilerific review of The Plan, including the fact that the Simon who has a wife and kid on one of the ships in the fleet airlocks himself rather than destroy the ship or be revealed as a Cylon — but he gets found out anyway. And Cavil sets off Five's explosive suicide vest himself. Also, we see the beginnings of Leoben's Kara obsession as he sits alone and listens to the fleet traffic. Cavil randomly stabs a little boy for no reason, just so we'll know how evil he is.

And there are some cool apocalyptic images of the Cylon attack on the Colonies. [The TV Obsessed]

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

Interviews with Terry Gilliam and the cast offer a few more glimpses of the trippy fantasy movie:

2012

If the latest stills from Roland Emmerich's disaster porn teach us anything, it's that the apocalypse will be wet. [IGN]

X-Files 3

David Duchovny would like to do a third film, but if it happens, he'd like to focus on the aliens and conspiracy that were central to the show's mythology. [IGN]

Eclipse

Kirsten Prout has been cast as Lucy, a vampire who appears only in flashbacks. A vampire named turns Jasper Hale into a vampire during the Civil War and recruits him for her vampire army. Jasper eventually betrays Maria and two of her soldiers, including Lucy. [MTV Movies Blog]

Dollhouse

It looks like Paul Ballard and Echo are going to lock lips in an upcoming episode, but that doesn't mean Paul has completely given himself over to the Dollhouse. Tamoh Penikett says that although Paul's been drinking the Kool-Aid a bit, he's going to have more issues with his new corporate role. [E! Online]

And we get a better look at Summer Glau and her poor, poor (left) arm in November 6th's episode "The Left Hand." [Spoiler TV]

Supernatural

In the November 19th episode, "Abandon All Hope," Lucifer will capture Castiel while the latter is on a recon mission in Missouri. Lucifer interrogates Castiel by trapping him in a burning ring fueled by holy oil. [TV Guide Magazine]

Heroes

Executive producer Adam Armus drops a few more hints as to which male original cast member will die:

"We always pull surprises on Heroes. That's all I have to say. It is an epic battle. It's an epic struggle between two very well-loved characters, and it's going to be really compelling."

So, who will be involved in this epic struggle? Hiro and Ando? Parkman and Sylar? Nathan and Sylar? [SCI FI Wire]

FlashForward

In the November 5th episode, "The Gift," the apparent connection between a Blue Hand club and some recent suicides leads Mark, Demetri, Gough, and MI6 agent Fiona Bands to investigate. Aaron will receive a surprise visit from an army buddy of his late daughter's. While Demetri reveals his lack of flashforward to Zoey, Nicole will help Bryce solve the mystery of his while volunteering at the hospital. [Spoiler TV]

Smallville

Lois throws some punches in this preview from Friday's episode "Roulette." [via Spoiler TV]

The Justice Society is assembling on Smallville and three of the members have been identified. Stargate SG-1's Michael Shanks will be playing Hawkman, Andromeda's Brent Stait will play Doctor Fate, and Aliens in America's Britt Irvin will play Stargirl. [IGN]

The Sarah Jane Adventures

This Thursday marks the beginning of the two-part serial "The Mad Woman in the Attic." We get an early glimpse of Donald Sumpter as Erasmus Darkening, Suranne Jones as Mona Lisa, and Eleanor Tomlinson as Eve. [Blogtor Who]

And in the second part of the serial, we'll see a pair of very familiar faces: the Third and Fourth Doctors. Granted, we'll be seeing Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker in flashbacks using archival footage, but we'll also see Sarah Jane's future — one featuring another familiar Doctor. The vision of the future will involve the phrase, "He is returning, he is coming back," and we'll see the TARDIS appear in the Bannerman Road attic. In another flashforward toward the end of the episode, where we'll encounter none other than the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant. Sarah Jane's robotic sidekick K9 will also be back, supposedly for good. <![CDATA[Christopher Nolan's Chilling Behind The Scenes Inception Video]]> Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan's latest film is shrouded in mystery, but we've got a few ideas. Still, this leaked on set video is so surreal and weird, it's spooky. Spoilery talk ahead.

We believe that Nolan's latest movie takes us into the mind, and lets us step inside a person's dreams. This video below, which was taken from the sidelines on the Inception shoot, shows a freight train barreling down the middle of the street — something possible only in your dreams. The whole thing is delightfully off-putting and... well, dream-like. Which is probably exactly what Nolan wants, and we're excited to see more. The next two clips show what seem to be a firefight, and a driving sequence.

<![CDATA[Could Christopher Nolan's Inception Be Something Like This? [NSFW]]]> Dennis Quaid is a powerful psychic, plus he's hooked up to the U.S. government's top-secret dream-machine, allowing him to visit a man's dreams of Japanese people and Catholic priests having sex with his wife. It sorta makes sense. NSFW video.

The thing that makes this sequence from Dreamscape especially ridiculous is the loopy music and the weird red lighting — and then there are the kids watching their mom have sex with all of Mr. Burnett's golfing buddies. If you're going to confront this kind of disturbing, surreal sex dream, who would you want at your side but Dennis Quaid?

Probably Christopher Nolan's new movie set in the "architecture of the mind," Inception, won't feature any scenes remotely like this. We think.

And Quaid doesn't even need a machine to enter your dreams, as he proves later in the film by venturing into Kate Capshaw's erotic train dream...

Aren't you glad it's Dennis Quaid week?

<![CDATA[Inception Script Review: Real Or Headfake? Plus Awesome Surrogates Footage!]]> Refresh yourself with spoilers! A script review of Nolan's Inception is shocking and possibly accurate. There's thrilling Surrogates footage, and a revealing FlashForward clip. Smallville gets zanier. Plus: Batman 3, Jennifer's Body, Supernatural, Fringe, Warehouse and Heroes spoilers.

Inception:

Someone who claims to have read the whole screenplay for Christopher Nolan's "architecture of the mind" thriller posted a review online — and several salt mines worth of grains of salt are probably indicated. The synopsis is vastly different from the other dribs and drabs we've learned so far, and sounds a bit outlandish to boot. At the same time, you just never know — and I remember dismissing a spot-on accurate summary of The Dark Knight as a fake months before the movie came out.

In any case, the lucky (or lying) reviewer says that far from being about stepping into people's dreams for espionage purposes, as we've reported previously, Inception is actually about using the mind to travel to any point in space. A man named Jacob Hastley has recently become paraplegic, and he considers killing himself — but instead he discovers a connection between the human mind and space. Since both space and the mind's capacity are infinite (they are?), you can create a doorway from your mind into any point in space.

So Jacob discovers a "thought algorithm" that lets him travel to any point in the universe, without actually traveling. He visits other solar systems, and even other galaxies, and it's groovy. Then he discovers that other people already know how to do this mind-traveling thing, and they're 150 percent smarter than average humans because they use more of their brain capacity. These other travelers are aware of Jacob's travels, and Jacob has to find the truth behind the origins of the universe (hence "Inception") before the other travelers catch up to him.

The supporting cast includes Lisa, a genius and Jacob's ex-wife who dumped him after he was injured, but who shows up again right after his first trip. Plus Kansas, a dog whisperer who connects in an unearthly way with her animals, Tark, a 37-year-old man who seems to have a wisdom beyond his years, and Isabell, a blind woman who will stop at nothing to see again. So... what do you think? Do we call in TrekMovie's Senator Vreenak?

Update: Apparently it was an April Fool's prank. Oh well. [Script Shadow, thanks Ryan!]

Batman 3:

Have we already mentioned a dozen times before that Aaron Eckhart says Harvey Dent died at the end of The Dark Knight? Here's one more for luck. [MTV]

Surrogates:

Just how badly do you want to see some kick-ass robot-fighting new footage from Surrogates? Badly enough to sit through a music video by the band Breaking Benjamin? If so, then here ya go. The song is pretty dreadful, but the scenes from the movie make it look pretty darn amazing. [Thanks Mike!]

Jennifer's Body:

Director Karen Kusama explains what appealed to her about this movie's script:

I really, really loved the fact that it had this subverted fairytale kind of structure where in the end it's Needy who has to save Chip, save herself and deal with Jennifer. That she really has to become an adult over the course of the movie and that was powerful to me. I know the movie plays like a crazy, fun genre film, but I hope that there's something a little bit emotionally richer.

A tragedy befalls the town, and the townsfolk find a song to unify them in their grief. And there's a great moment where we see Jennifer cupping blood out of a torn-open torso. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Supernatural:

Tired of Sam and Dean ripping each other to pieces? Then there's good news. Eric Kripke says season five is about "building Sam and Dean back up in a way that makes them older, sadder, wiser, and, ultimately, stronger. It's funny, we've been feeling in many ways that this is the most optimistic season of Supernatural we've ever done. Because even though the exterior circumstances are a massive cluster f–k, internally, the boys aren't tearing each other apart every episode. It's more like, ‘Hey, maybe we'll lose, but, dammit, let's go down swinging.'" [EW]

Fringe:

The question with Charlie isn't so much whether he's going, but when. (And I think this means in which episode he'll leave, and it's not some kind of hint that Charlie will be time-traveling.) [EW]

Another combined Bones/Fringe promo:

FlashForward:

A new clip from the pilot, in which people start to realize those blackouts weren't just blackouts. Plus a few promos I don't think we've shown you before.

House:

House has "steamy goings-on" with she-who-shall-not-be-named in the season premiere, but Huddy is far from over — House and Cuddy have an intense attraction, but it's as much intellectual and spiritual as sexual. Also, when House, Wilson and Cuddy go on a business trip in episode seven, Lucas tags along. [EW]

Warehouse 13:

A sneak peek from next Tuesday's episode, where Myka has to save her dad (Michael Hogan!) from a sinister artifact.

Heroes:

Ready to pick at that scab again? Here are a bevy of photos from the two-part season premiere, "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall." (I guess "orientation" refers to Claire going to college as well as, possibly, her much-discussed lesbian-until-graduation-ness. Must resist the temptation to make a joke about matriculation.) [Herosite]

Smallville:

Tom Welling explains that going into season nine, Clark has lost faith in his old view of the human race:

Well, in the past Clark has always been the reluctant hero. Everyone is telling him what he has to do and he doesn't want to do it. With the events of Jimmy's death [in May's season finale], along with the eight seasons building up, he realizes that his view on humanity has been wrong. And he goes to Jor-El and says, ‘I messed up, what do I do now?' Jor-El takes him in, and Clark starts his training. His training ultimately is what will prepare him to be who we all know he's going to be in the future. So it's him spending time at the Fortress of Solitude downloading all this information. At the same time, information is given to him that the fate of the world depends on Lois Lane's survival. So Clark has to struggle between his destiny and his humanity. Especially in the first few episodes it gets in the way of the training, because he just can't help but deal with humans and help people, when all Jor-El wants him to do is shut everyone off, forget about them, rise above them and be the hero he needs to be.

And Clark wears the "S" symbol on his chest, the sign of the House of El, as a means of establishing a "call sign" for himself. He's no longer the red-blue blur, just the Blur. In episode two, through a contrivedcomplicated set of circumstances caused by "interesting lighting", Lois gets a good look at the symbol on Clark's chest, but doesn't see his face. Clark has an opportunity to step forward and show her his face, but chooses not to. And here's a new pic. [TV Guide Magazine via OSCK]

Chuck:

Angie Harmon wants Captain Awesome dead because he's a superspy now. Or something. [EW]

Eastwick:

I don't think we've featured this sneak peek and promo from the "Desperate Housewitches" show:

And it's not much of a spoiler to say this show is "cheesy and dull" according to E! Online. The devil is a douche instead of debonair. Sara Rue is wasted in the background, at least in the pilot. [E! Online]

<![CDATA[Fight Pics From Nolan's Inception, Plus Secrets Of Iron Man 2's Whip-Wielding Menace]]> Today's spoilers may actually rock too much: DiCaprio channels Bale in Nolan's Inception. More details on Iron Man 2's Whiplash armor, and another Megan Fox poster. Dollhouse's weirdest plot yet. Plus 2012, Lost, Fringe, V, Supernatural, Smallville and True Blood.

Inception:

We've already shown you some set photos of Leonardo DiCaprio looking troubled on the set of this Christopher Nolan thriller, but in this new batch of photos, he's in a scuffle with a mysterious opponent, in an African or Middle Eastern setting. And apparently DiCaprio is on a crash diet to lose tons of weight to film one action scene in which he has to be severely emaciated. (Shades of Christian Bale in The Machinist.) More pics at the link. [Radar Online]

Iron Man 2:

Stuntman Garrett Warren stands in for Mickey Rourke, and he describes how the "double whips" (one in each hand) will look in the finished product:

I don't know if I'm at liberty to say what the whips will look like, but they're going to be these super whips that have an awful lot of power. They can cut through cars, they can do an awful lot of damage. And when the movie comes out, you'll see that he doesn't do just whip-cracks and grabbing people. He lays waste to an awful lot of vehicles and street pieces and other things.... At one point, Whiplash had to get hit by a car, and Mickey did the lead up to the stunt, and I did the stunt where the car came in and hit me and took me to the fence.

And he says the Whiplash armor is uncomfortable because there's one big metal piece, and also that Whiplash is shirtless (the whole time, by the sound of things) with his whole body covered in metal rods. [Movieline via Cinemablend]

2012:

How do you say "disaster porn" in Japanese? Find out with this new Japanese trailer, which also includes some new footage.

Jennifer's Body:

The Spanish poster for this slut-horror film features Megan Fox looking slutty, and possibly horrifying. [Audillos]

Dollhouse:

We already showed you some pics from the season opener, in which a pre-programmed Echo marries Jamie Bamber's character. But now Fox has released more pics from the episode, showing Bamber and Eliza Dushku getting a little more intense. [Fox]

And it sounds as though Echo and Victor will trade places, in episode two, judging from the episode descriptions Fox gave the Chicago Tribune:

Episode 1, "Vows": Picking up a few months after the Season 1 finale, Echo (Eliza Dushku) is the new bride of a charismatic businessman (guest star Jamie Bamber), who is tied to an old FBI case that Paul (Tahmoh Penikett) was unable to close. Meanwhile, Dr. Saunders struggles with her discovery that she is a Doll and targets Topher. Written and directed by Joss Whedon.

Episode 2, "Belle Chose": "Michael Hogan guest stars as a client of the Dollhouse who comes to Adelle (Olivia Williams) for help with a psychotic family member. Topher (Fran Kranz) accidentally crosses Echo and Victor's (Enver Gjokaj) imprints while there[sic] are on different assignments."

Also, Fox says Miracle Laurie (Mellie/November) will be back in season two — which is not something I had heard before. Did I miss that being announced? [Chicago Tribune]

Lost:

Here's a casting call for a new character who will be in episodes two and three of the new season, Paul:

Male, 30s to 60s, any ethnicity. Overworked, harried from a long day and many hours, faced with a highly adrenalized situation that forces him to remain calm and tests his ability to keep his wits about him - a test he fails as panic wins out.

[SpoilersLost]

Fringe:

Peter has no significant scenes with Olivia in the season opener, but he does get some quality time with Olivia's sister, as well as the new character Agent Jessup. [TV Guide]

V:

How is Elizabeth Mitchell's new character on this show, Erica, similar to her Lost character Juliet? Allow her to explain:

What I'm enjoying about Erica, which is one of the same things I love about Juliet, is that she, every day of her life, believes if she is not fully on, not fully functioning, she is going to let people down and the world will come to an end. She actively puts herself in the line of fire. I think it takes a special kind of person to do that, and that, combined with Erica being a mother, is very interesting to me.

And she says originally Juilet wasn't supposed to be back this season on Lost at all — until the producers changed their minds for some reason. [Boston Herald]

And here's a new character we'll be meeting in episode three:

[HENRY MARLOW] Male. Late 30s. Open Ethnicity. Scruffy but fit. Brilliant. Has a good sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. He's British.

[SpoilerTV]

Supernatural:

There are no plans for either of the Winchester boys ever to have a meaningful relationship with a member of the opposite sex. [EW]

Another thing there are no plans for? A return by Genevieve Cortese, playing New Ruby. (Which people are taking to mean Ruby is gone for good as well.) [E! Online]

Smallville:

if you're a Clark-Lois shipper, you should watch to the very last second of the first episode, to catch something exciting. And apparently when Lois returns from the future, she thinks she has amnesia, and keeps catching flashes of something — but it's actually something more sinister haunting her, which comes to a head in episode nine, "Pandora." And it gives Clark a clue as to how he can defeat Zod.

As for Clark, he doesn't exactly go dark — he just has to grapple with the responsibilities he's taken on, and figure out how he can still have a life. And his relationship wtih Chloe will keep suffering, because he's busy and she's upset over her lost love. Meanwhile, Ollie will get a "very sympathetic sidekick" who may be familiar to comics fans. And finally, someone from the future is trying to kill Clark — not one of our regular castmembers, but someone closer to home. [E! Online]

True Blood:

In the final episodes of the season, you'll see an interesting division between the characters — in particular, keep an eye on those characters for whom the supernatural events are "not quite as super," because those people are different from the other characters. And those differences will be explored in the following seasons. [TV Guide]

We won't learn what Sookie's new power is this season. As for who saves Sam from Maryann, rumor has it he takes refuge with Eric and Pam at Fangtasia in Shreveport. And Maryann finally gets vanquished by a "group effort." And apparently vampire queen Sophie is hooked up with Sookie's cousin Hadley Hale. [E! Online]

Warehouse 13:

Here are some pics from episode 11, "Nevermore". [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Even though Tracy is believed to be dead and is also going around being a serial killer, she's also working in politics again. Says Tim Kring:

Tracy goes back to her old life working on the Hill, only to discover that she's no longer driven by the same shallow rewards. She wants to make a difference in peoples' lives.

She can't make a difference by being a serial killer? [EW]

We've mentioned that Matt Parkman has Sylar in his brain thanks to that botched mind meld at the end of season three, but apparently there will be lots of scenes of Matt seeing a "ghost" Sylar that nobody else can see. And Matt yells "Shut up!" at his imaginary Sylar, and everyone else thinks he's nuts. And as we mentioned, Sylar kidnaps Matt's son to get his body back.

Also, at some point, Sylar is running from the cops (having gotten his body back?) and winds up at the carnival, where they shelter him. He does some menial work, but then gets into a pissing match with Edgar (Ray Park) who throws knives at him using super-speed. So Sylar has to whip out his own abilities. [IGN]

<![CDATA[New Leaks Add Extra Layers To Chris Nolan's Mind-Frak Of A Movie]]> Inception's first trailer left viewers with more questions than answers... until now. An online source claims to have the inside scoop on Christopher Nolan's heavily-guarded movie. Read on for more details about mind crimes, but heed the spoiler warning.

The lucky devils over at Incontention have uncovered a few pivotal details about Nolan's new film.

Leonardo DiCaprio has thus far only been described as a CEO and our first glimpse of his character in the new Inception trailer showed a mildly skittish person, but revealed little more.

Incontention reveals, based on an inside source who's read the script, that Leo's character Cobb is also a thief. Cobb "dives," (perhaps this was what all the water was about) into people's dreams to get information.

Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Arthur and Tom Hardy's Eames are all a part of Cobbs business team. Together they create and manipulate your dreams, Ellen Page's character Ariadne is an dream engineer of sorts.

The way someone enters another dream is via injection. Which means they can enter dreams from wherever they are, shots being portable.

But the biggest spoiler of them all happens after Cobb and his wife end up trapped in the dream world and his wife tries to convince him to stay in the dream world even though he wants to go back to be with his family. Somehow Cobb's wife ends up committing suicide in the dream world in an attempt to try and get back to the real world — not sure what changed her mind. But as urban myth goes, if you die in your dreams, you die in real life. And Cobb wakes up accused of the murder of his wife.

<![CDATA[Your Mind Is The Scene Of The Crime In Nolan's Offical Inception Trailer]]> Damn you, Christopher Nolan, and your infernal ability to hook us on your new movie with mere water and a pair of ceiling fighting suits. So what does the trailer mean by "your mind is the crime scene?"

The official synopsis is as vague as the trailer...

A CEO-type becomes involved in a blackmailing scandal.

But we do know that Leo is the CEO and his villain is Ken Watanabe, who is pretty fantastic in just about everything, but not as great as that spinning top! What the heck does it all mean? And please let these hallway fights stay clear from Matrix territory.

Eating Class points out that water seems to be a pretty pivotal part of this film as it's in just about every scene, even the one with the top. Also in the fight scenes with Joseph Gordon-Levitt prancing about, "people are subject to their environments, not the other way around." Check out the site for a full breakdown.

Also, the film now has an official website: InceptionMovie.

<![CDATA[Why Can't We Let Go Of Our Past?]]> Looking through a copy of the comic catalog Previews recently, I realized how many canceled TV shows have been spun off into ongoing comic series: Buffy, Farscape, Jericho, even Galactica 1980... Why can't we say goodbye to things we love?

It's not just the comic continuations of canceled shows (which also include The X-Files, Angel and, soon, Pushing Daisies), though; old ideas are never allowed to die anymore anywhere; that's why we're reading news about Battlestar Galactica being relaunched as a movie by Bryan Singer, X-Files possibly undergoing a movie reboot, eagerly anticipating the 28-years-later sequel to Tron and worrying whether or not there's going to be a fifth Terminator movie.

Arguments could - and will - be made about how this shows the void of new ideas in the entertainment world, but I'm not sure that those really hold water; this year alone, we've seen District 9 and Moon find success, gotten curious about Chris Nolan's Inception and watched as James Cameron's Avatar has become the most anticipated movie of the year. New stories are out there, and from big studios normally condemned for only sticking with familiar franchises, as well (In television, the same arguments can be made; for all the familiarity of Fringe or Warehouse 13, they're new shows, as are/were Dollhouse, Day One and even Flash Forward. As far as comics go, you only have to leaf through the 400+ page Previews to see all manner of new ideas sharing space with familiar faces). So, if it's not that no-one's coming up with new stories, why do we keep going back to the old?

It can't just be nostalgia; you can't really tell me that Jericho's return as a comic book and potential TV movie comes down to people longing for those halcyon days of 2008, for one thing, and it's not just the sense of unfinished stories or unfulfilled potential (Unless I missed the legions of people crying out for someone to come along and give us the story of bearded Lorne Greene Adama in Galactica 1980 that they knew we deserved for all these years). So, what is it?
I'm worried that, ultimately, it's laziness. Not only laziness on the side of creators, but also on the side of fans; for the creators, resurrecting an old franchise seems like a no-brainer because it:
* offers a way around that whole pesky "coming up with an idea" thing,
* brings a ready-made amount of fans, no matter how small, who are not only already interested in your product but can take up some slack on marketing and publicity (Yes, this involves "I can't believe they're letting Bryan Singer do BSG only months after Ron Moore's show ended" style outrage),
* creates an easy PR hook for whatever publicity you want to do ("[Character X] is back!")
* allows you to learn from the mistakes and successes of your predecessors instead of making yourself look like idiots in public (Until, of course, you learn new ways to do that, which is inevitable), and
* gives you a chance to work out some of your "I could do that idea a million times better!" feelings about original version.

On the fan side of things, though, it gets more complicated. We cling onto these resuscitations because, in a weird way, we feel entitled to them: We've invested all this time and energy in them, and - for want of a better way to put it - that gives us the right to demand more of it until we decide we're done (See: Star Trek and Star Wars and the fact that they'll never go away), and also because... well, we've invested all this time and energy and we want to know that it's not for nothing, and that we won't have to go through it all again with something else that might just break our heart.

In the end, it's as much a success for the market as it is anything else: Everything is available to us if we want it badly enough (Well, as long as what we want already exists; those new things, they still have to be dreamt up), even if it's not what we really need, or what is good for us. Don't get me wrong; for the people who couldn't consider life without knowing what happened to Angel and Illyria after the end of the TV show, I'm happy that they get their chance to find out (And I selfishly look forward to the further adventures of Ned and Chuck, when they appear). I just wish that, sometimes, we were not only allowed to move on from our old favorites and find something else to surprise and amaze us.

<![CDATA[Your Blurry First Look At Dark Knight Director's Inception]]> Bootlegged versions of the trailer for The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan's new movie, Inception have started leaking out onto the web following its first appearance in theaters yesterday. Click through for your first glimpse of Leonardo DiCaprio going Matrix.

This is, of course, just a teaser, but it does its job - We're curious to see what's behind the seemingly random images (One of which is repeated on the movie's just-launched official site), and wondering whether or not we're feeling underwhelmed by being reminded of The Matrix so much.

<![CDATA[Smoking Pics From Iron Man 2, Pandorum, Jennifer's Body, Wolfman, Dollhouse And Stargate!]]> Friday is for spoilers: Superman's possible next director says what his storyline his movie wouldn't include. Photos and posters illuminate Iron Man 2, Pandorum, Jennifer's Body, Wolfman, Dollhouse and Stargate Universe. Plus Inception, Thor, Surrogates, Fringe, Heroes and Superman/Batman spoilers.

Superman:

James McTeigue, one of the directors rumored to be in the running to direct the next Super-movie, says if he did handle Superman, he's take him in a totally new direction, one you wouldn't expect. The only other hint he offered was this:

I think it's good that they just had a court case where, basically, if you make another Superman movie, you can't touch Superman growing up-that's part of the story that you can't touch any more. That wouldn't be a bad thing. I think everybody's a bit sick of seeing the origin story.

[MTV]

Iron Man 2:

Here's a new promo pic of Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer. [Fantasy.FR via FilmShaft]

Thor:

Diora Baird Twittered that she auditioned for a role as a character who's "pretty, but sturdy, with muscle." Which could be any one of a hundred Asgardian maidens, as others have pointed out. [MTV via Comic Book Resources]

Pandorum:

A new poster for this space-horror film hints at rather a lot of blood, and despairing gazes at the ceiling. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Inception:

The teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's next project is appearing in front of Inglorious Basterds today, but it's not clear when it'll be online. A tipster describes it, saying that it includes footage of Leonardo DiCaprio and other actors — plus a fight scene involving Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in a hallway, that goes all over the walls and ceiling, sort of like The Matrix but different. Also, it includes a shot of DiCaprio's face, and a city scape, and then the words "YOUR MIND IS THE SCENE OF THE CRIME." And at one point, you see a glass of water, and it tilts. [Slashfilm]

Jennifer's Body:

A new promo shot of Megan Fox graces the cover of Sci Fi Now magazine. [Hollywood Gossip]

Surrogates:

Director Jonathan Mostow says the main villain of Robert Venditti's graphic novel, Steeplejack, isn't in the movie version at all: "he character of Steeplejack is not in the movie by name anymore," he says. Instead, there's a new villain, who's "sort of an amalgamation of a couple of things." Adds Mostow:

We tapped into certain themes more deeply in the movie than the comic book did. We put a lot of emphasis on another big theme-which is this idea of human physical perfection. We all want to look great all the time, to an unrealistic extent.

Maybe the new villain has something to do with the desire to look perfect all the time? Because that worked great for Catwoman. [MTV via Comic Book Resources]

Fringe:

In the season premiere, one main character dies, two kiss, and another faces medical uncertainty. (Olivia, I'm guessing, is the medically uncertain one.) Somehow, in spite of that "main character dies" thing, we're not supposed to count Charlie out just yet, because he plays a big role in the episode. But they didn't say anything about Charlie playing a big role after that episode. [TV Guide]

What happens in the first scene of season two? This promo teases but doesn't really answer. [Fringe Television]

Dollhouse:

Here's a new "character image" showing Echo in a rubber corset, waving a gun, with her hair in braids. [SpoilerTV]

Stargate Universe:

A new promo poster spells out what the space explorers' mission is this time around. Bigger version at the link. [EW]

Heroes:

Zachary Quinto hints there may be a new love interest for Sylar in season four — at least, there have been some "percolations" in the first half dozen episodes, but it remains to be seen if any of them take. It takes Sylar a while to figure out that he's really Sylar and not Nathan, and meanwhile, he's also in Matt Parkman's mind. So it's a slow process to get back to the Sylar we know and (possibly) love. And Sylar's involvement with that wacky carnival of mutant freaks is just starting to unfold in episode seven, now filming. [Sci Fi Wire]

And Greg Grunberg has more about that "Sylar is in Matt's mind" thing. Apparently, Matt will be trying to be a good police detective and family man again, but Sylar will be pushing him towards the dark side. Says Grunberg:

The evil part of Sylar got stuck in my subconscious, and he is slowly gaining control over me. I have a feeling that he's going to make Matt do things that he would never, ever do in a million years.

Weird thought: are we going to be seeing a Search For Spock thing here, where Sylar's brain is inside Matt's, while his body is stuck being Nathan? Given that Sylar is Spock it has a certain elegance. [TV Guide]

Also, here's another new promo, all about how our heroes dream about the way things used to be, but life won't cooperate:

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies:

The studio released some cool images of Black Lightning, another superhero who appears in this direct-to-DVD animated movie. And he's voiced by Geordi La Forge himself, LeVar Burton.

The Wolfman:

Here are some new pics from this toothsome movie, plus a plot synopsis:

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother ... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.

Lawrence Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancee, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.

As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself: one he never imagined existed.

<![CDATA[The Mystery Of Christopher Nolan's Mirror Bridge. Plus A TV Heroine Resorts To Bondage!]]> Christopher Nolan's Inception is filming in Paris, and there are set pics, plus a super-intriguing description. Plus Liev Schreiber mulls over Wolverine 2, and ScarJo talks The Avengers. Also: Warehouse 13/Eureka clips! And Lost, Fringe, FlashForward and Star Wars spoilers.

Inception:

We brought you the first set pics from Christopher Nolan's new movie, Inception, the other day. Here's another set, showing Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page filming a scene on a bridge in Paris. More pics at the link. [JustJared]

And People Magazine has a description of the scene they were filming:

Monday's scene on the closed set utilized two giant mirrors, each the size of a storefront and slowly rotating and reflecting each other. The leading man – dressed in a grey-green Armani jacket, black trousers and looking very tanned and blond – stood between them, creating a funhouse-mirror effect of a thousand reflections before the mirrors pulled away to reveal him walking the bridge with Ellen Page amid a sea of extras.

An argument develops between them and Page turns violent, shoving him, knocking him down. What followed were shots of the extras, standing as still as statues, as though they were frozen in time.

[People]

And someone got hold of a callsheet, which includes the names of the film's main characters, except for DiCaprio's. Ellen Page plays Ariadne, Joseph Gordon Levitt plays Arthur, Tom Hardy plays Eames, Ken Watanabe plays Saito, Dileep Rao is Yusef, Cillian Murphy is Fischer and Tom Berenger is Browning. And there's a character named COBB,
who has no actor listed. Chances are, he's either a code name for DiCaprio, or he's a computer-generated character. (Oh, and apparently Oliver's Arrow is a fake working title.) [CloneWeb via NolanFans via Slashfilm]

Wolverine 2:

Liev Schreiber says he's open to returning as Sabretooth in this sequel, and he'd love to see how his version of the character became the more animalistic rendition Tyler Mane gave us in X-Men. [MTV]

Iron Man 2:

Scarlett Johansson hints her character, the Black Widow, could be back in the Avengers movie — and could possibly have her own spin-off film as well, if the fans take to her skintight catsuit. Supposedly ScarJo is signed for several movies. [IOL via ComicBookMovie via Comic Book Resources]

Legion:

In a fairly hilarious interview, Paul Bettany talks about the tattoos he wears as the angel Michael:

They actually go all over my body, including my – I don't want to talk about it. The application of those tattoos is a private matter! They developed the sort of typeset. In actual fact [the language] was developed by a man called John Dee, and you'll have to check this but he was a Necromancer and he was apparently in touch with angels and they gave him their language. This actually all says stuff, but you'll have to forgive me because I have about 60 tattoos or more, I think. So I don't know what each of them say, but they say stuff. This one I know says "If you're freeze-framing this film, you're really weird."

And he clarifies that, yes, Michael does lose all his supernatural powers when he clips his own wings, and he also sheds some kind of heavenly obedience collar. And there's a totally awesome fight scene with Gabriel. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Shorts:

Some more details about Robert Rodriguez' latest kids' movie. Apparently James Spader's character, Carbon Black, has two kids: Helvetica Black is a tiny terror, and Cole Black is the leader of a gang of bullies who target our hero, Toe Thompson, mostly by shoving him in trash cans. They live in Black Falls, a company town where everyone works for Carbon Black's firm, and they're all obsessed with upgrading the mysterious all-purpose product that Black Box Industries makes. Until one day, the rainbow wish-granting rock descends from space. [Yahoo! News]

Battle: Los Angeles:

The mayors of Shreveport and Bossier City, LA will hold a press conference today to discuss the location filming of this alien invasion film. For now, though, Shreveport director of film, media and entertainment Arlena Acree says the movie includes explosions, battleground scenes, car chases, crashes, smoke, helicopters, and street closures. "This is the first project where we have been attacked by aliens," she says of Shreveport. [Shreveport Times]

Twilight: Eclipse:

The third movie has started filming, and a press release lists the entire supporting cast. And no, the part about there being an actor named BooBoo isn't a typo:

Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria, Xavier Samuel as Riley, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Maria, Jack Huston as Royce King, Julia Jones as Leah, BooBoo Stewart as Seth, and Jodelle Ferland as Bree. Also continuing in the saga as The Cullen Family are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, and Jackson Rathbone as Jasper. Billy Burke also returns as Charlie Swan.

[L.A. Times]

Lost:

John Hawkes (Deadwood) is joining the cast as Lennon, the scruffy, edge spokesperson and translator for a foreign corporation who's more powerful than you'd guess from his position. (We posted the casting call for this role the other day.) [THR]

Warehouse 13:

Bondage and games of possum, in this clip from next Tuesday's episode, "Duped":

Supernatural:

Creator Eric Kripke says we'll never learn how Ruby's demon knife got its powers, because a little mystery is good. But we will see the magical kill-anything Colt pistol again — it pops up early in the season, and then plays a major part in episode ten. The Colt is the Winchester boys' best chance at shooting Lucifer in the face. And there's always a possibility Jeffrey Dean Morgan might pop up again at some point. [EW]

Fringe:

We already showed you this season two poster, but now here it is in ridiculously high resolution. Click to enlarge. [Fringe Television]

Oh, and speaking of clues, a whole new set of cast pics for season two includes a pic of Peter where his shadow looks different than everyone else's. [Fringe Television]

FlashForward:

This show's future-glimpsing premise is summed up, in one of the ugliest posters I've ever seen. Gah! [TVOvermind via SpoilerTV]

Eureka:

Here's a new clip from tomorrow night's episode, "Shower The People," featuring guest star Billy Campbell:

Smallville:

A pretty cool twist, involving Chloe, will take place within the first ten episodes of the new season. [EW]

Star Wars: Clone Wars:

Things get a bit darker in the second season, says Dave Filoni:

We have the rise of the bounty hunters entering the war - bringing in a lot of chaos and a whole new set of problems for Anakin and Obi-Wan.

And we'll start to see the seeds of Anakin's turn to the dark side, but we'll also see more of his heroism and the fact that he could have been the saviour of the galaxy. Also, we'll discover more of Obi-Wan's past. [Wired]

<![CDATA[First Leonardo DiCaprio Images From Chris Nolan's Inception]]> Nobody knows what Christopher Nolan's latest picture Inception is all about, but the roster of actors on this project ensure some high-energy drama, and you can glimpse it in the first intense set photos.

We know Ken Watanabe is playing the villain, and the film is jam packed with actors who love a good staredown session, such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Marion Cotillard plays Lisa Hastley, the wife of DiCaprio's character Jacob. But what's with the knife she's holding in one of these pics?

The official synopsis is this, "A CEO-type becomes involved in a blackmailing scandal." We believe that Leo is the boss and the scandal involves some sort of brain-mapping, mind-recording science — at least that squares with the vague reports about the film dabbling with "the architecture of the mind."
