Look What's On Tony Stark's Workbench In Iron Man

We already knew Iron Man was full of little "easter eggs" and clues about the future of the Marvel movies. And now it looks as though one more hidden clue has turned up. Just look at this screengrab from the movie's trailer, and then compare it with a picture of the same scene in the final movie, to see what was added. Spoilers ahead. Update: A reader sent us a better quality picture that shows the alleged item. More »

Like Iron Man, But More Metallic This Time

Halcyon, the king of the rushed-out copycat movies, has released the trailer for their long-awaited film about a superhero in power armor... Metal Man. (Not to be confused with Iron Man...but yeah.) They've also brought us Amphibious (Cloverfield), Replicator (Single White Female with robots) and Battle Space. The plot of MM sounds a bit different than Iron Man, although the resemblance of the outfits is uncanny. The story is based on a scientist who gets stuck inside a "bio-helmet" permanently. He then takes out his anger on the people who stole his identity along with his family. My only question for Metal Man is to the gentleman in the trailer who holds a gun up to MMs heart: He's metal right? [Halycon] Thanks, Averyguerra!

Meet The Secret Brain Trust Behind Iron Man

If you liked the Iron Man movie and thought that some of it seemed remarkably true to the comic books, there's a good reason for that... Marvel Comics' writers were secretly involved with the writing of the movie and had to hold their silence until the movie's release. Now that it's a smash hit, beans are being spilled about the movie's "secret brain trust" and phrases like "Braggy McBraggy" are being used. More »

Summer Movie Madness Hits This Week's Comics

You'd be forgiven for thinking that the comics industry has gone movie mad this week, judging by the books hitting stores tomorrow. Well, more movie mad than usual, perhaps. If it's not Marvel capitalizing on the success of Iron Man with two new Iron Man series and many other books starring the chrome crusader, it's a sequel to one of last year's summer blockbusters, and the long-awaited conclusion to a story by one of Hollywood's one-time top directors. Celluloid craziness and more, under the jump. More »

Who Should Be The Next Marvel Movie Star?

Now that Iron Man is officially the most successful movie with a character called "Tony" in it in the history of cinema or something like that, the movie industry's collective eyes have moved to what's next for Marvel Comics' production house. And not The Incredible Hulk, either - The Hollywood Reporter is already asking what they've got up their sleeves for 2010 and beyond. While rumors are suggesting that Ant-Man, Thor and Avengers are likely candidates for celluloid treatment, we've got five lesser-known candidates that are ready to make the jump to a theater near you. Iron Man Grounded By The FAA?

How does Iron Man's suit of armor actually work? Taking all of the various fictional inventions and working out the physics behind them may sound like the kind of thing that would drive you mad, but writer Eliot R. Brown has done just that very thing for Marvel's All-New Iron Manual, and in the process discovered just how close to real world science Stan Lee was when creating the character in the early 1960s. Samuel L. Jackson's Iron Man Cameo Is Already Online

People have already uploaded crappy cameraphone copies of Samuel L. Jackson's notorious cameo in Iron Man, and we wouldn't be able to call ourselves spoiler maniacs if we didn't post a copy here. Our spoiler pride also drove us to dig up some new X-Files 2 details and pore over some pretty spoilery new Indiana Jones photos. We've also found out which enemy Batman fights at the end of the direct-to-DVD animated Gotham Knight, and the identity of Spider-Man's latest enemy. We're all about the spoiler pride. More »

Robert Downey Jr.'s Exposed Torso Is America

There's no way to make an apolitical movie out of Marvel Comics' Iron Man, and director Jon Favreau doesn't try. The story of a weapons manufacturer who's captured by a warlord in Afghanistan is clearly a metaphor for American power overseas. The great strength of Iron Man, which opens tonight, is that it can be read in a variety of ways, in spite of a fair bit of speechifying. And how you read the movie's narrative of weapons proliferation depends on how you view the constantly half-naked cyborg torso of Robert Downey, Jr. Spoilers ahead, Iron-fuckers! More »

Doctor Who Rumors That Are Too Weird To Be True

We've mixed in scurrilous rumors and dodgy leaks with the bona fide spoilers this morning, but it should be pretty easy to figure out which is which. At the questionable end of the scale is a new X-Files 2 report which someone tried to remove from IMDB. At the more iron-clad end of things is a new Speed Racer video, some new Incredible Hulk photos, and probably the last ever Iron Man spoiler. And then somewhere in the middle, there are new spoilers and speculation for the rest of Doctor Who season four, and a DC Comics leak. Spoilers away! More »

Iron Man Talks On His Cell Phone While Driving

Here's another new clip from Friday's Iron Man movie, courtesy of star Robert Downey Jr.'s appearance on Letterman last night. I saw the film last night, and this clip showcases the playfulness with which the movie melds personal technology with Tony Stark's super high-tech armor. It totally makes sense that Tony would re-route his cellphone into his armor — and yet it's startling and hilarious at the same time.

Gwyneth Paltrow Lays The Smackdown In Iron Man

Gwyneth Paltrow shows how she deals with the aftermath of Tony Stark's booty calls in this new clip from Friday's new Iron Man movie, which aired on last night's Late Night With Letterman. The clip doesn't feature any guys in armor flying around and blasting each other, but it does show more of Paltrow's character, Tony's "personal assistant" named Pepper Potts. If you've been wondering exactly what Paltrow is doing in a superhero movie, this may give some hints.
