they completely ruined the ending (among other things) in this movie for me, and while the funeral cut out was annoying, the set up of how dumbledore is killed was the worst thing in my opinion. It gets rid of the whole twist of which side snape is on, and makes it look like potter let dumbledore die without doing anything. I was surprised the film got decent reviews in the first place, I found it mostly boring and daniel radcliffs (harry) acting never seem to click for me. He puts on that same pained expression throughout so much of the film, and it just looks silly to me. I'm hoping the next film will be better, but its hard to adapt a book to screen with the time constraints.

Hopefully when WB reboots the series in 10-15 years they will get the sixth one right. Kinda like this concept art which is pretty neat, that funeral scene would have been awesome on film, instead we got a bunch of crap.

The concept art for the funeral looks far too cartooney, and I can't really see how it would translate onto the screen. All I can think of is the funeral in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

I'm digging Tonks's cobalt blue hair, though. It's certainly more funeral appropriate than bubblegum pink.

@Jeriba: It doesn't matter at this point because the writer and director deuche bags changed the movie so much it was the worst of the series. Visually it was fantastic but the adaptation of the story was ridiculous to the point that people will be confused when they watch the last two and things are present they have never seen on screen or explained properly.

@Makidian: The problem with the HP movies is that they can't seem to decide who their target audience is. Do they aim it at people who haven't read the books, or hardcore fans who have? In the end, they end up failing at both by changing major plot elements (which pisses off the fans) and leaving tons of things unexplained (which leaves the non-readers lost and confused). It also seems like the films the casual viewers like best (the 3rd and 6th films) are the ones that piss off the fans most.

I think part of the problem is that they started making the movies long before the series finished, so they had no way of knowing which plot details would be vital later on, and which ones were dispensable. Maybe they'll get it right the second time around when they film the remakes in 20 years.

I love the way those Inferi look in the drawings, but I was disappointed with how they looked in the film. I thought they all looked like Gollum from LotR.

Oh man, seeing that concept art opened up old wounds for me... I was seriously pissed that this scene was cut, especially when they felt the need to extend and add other scenes that didn't progress the plot much at all.

In fact, I've been holding out hope that the scene was just moved to the beginning of the next movie (especially because they can't show Ron's brother's wedding, due to the fact that he's never appeared in the movies.) Seeing that the scene was indeed intended for Half Blood Prince just makes it that much more unlikely. *grumble*

@Griff: Bill and Fleur's wedding IS in the movie. I believe they've already filmed it, actually! They'll just have to make up some introduction scene for Bill, which I'm sure will be awkward and weird. As long as he's a hottie with his ponytail and fang earring, I'm good! ;)

@Griff: They made a lot of mistakes with this movie that are going to confuse the piss out of people with the next. Like the wedding, and Bill, and the other Horcruxes, Tom Riddles past. Seriously you almost have to read the sixth book just to make sense of the seventh movie.

I made the mistake of re-reading HBP before the movie came out and my expectations got shattered into a billion pieces.

I think it was a good choice to cut it. It would've slowed the momentum in the film by dragging a bunch of actors just for the fumeral. Rowlings must not have thought it that important if she didn't even bother to detail the ceremony. Instead we get a laundry list of characters jockeying for seats and barely getting along during the service.

Frankly, that tribute with the wands by the school had the emotional wallop that the funeral could've provided. Also, it would've been harder to show the intimacy of the three characters and their decisions not to return if they had been in a crowd of folks arriving and departing.

@k4man: Eh, I disagree. Perhaps the funeral scene wasn't entirely necessary (though Dumbledore is a big character in the series, and deserves to be mourned by the other characters and by the audience) . . . but if you're going to cut the funeral scene, at least make his death scene nice and epic. Instead we vaguely saw Dumbledore fall over a railing, the next shot was of a close up of his head (no blood or chaos, kids!), Harry fake-crying next to him, and then the dumb wand tribute. . . . Cut to Harry and Hermione joking about snogging Ginny and shit. WTF? It felt kinda like, "That's it? What happened?" throughout it all, haha.

@Willow01: I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed something now (during concurrent filming of the other movies) and it showed up on the "Extra Special Director's Über Edition available only on Purple-Ray" released as a boxed set of course.

J.K. Rowling got my younger brother to actually voluntarily read. Seeing him with a book in his hands was like seeing a flamingo in the backyard, and I felt like I had to literally tiptoe around him when I stumbled upon him reading as if the book might turn pink, sprout wings and fly away if it saw me.
For that alone she deserves a medal.
