Oh, just wait another five or ten years and remake Crash, since it's technically a sequel to Empire of the Sun (in both novels, the protagonists are named "James Ballard"). Do it as a period piece set in 1973 England. Liv Tyler can play Elizabeth Taylor.

@lightninglouie: Crash is not a sequel to Empire of the Sun, a. one is fiction and one is autobiography (give or take) and b. Crash came out before Empire of the Sun. The Kindness of Women IS a sequel to EotS. and Concrete Island is thematically a sequel to Crash. Other than the protagonist's name they are essentially the same character in the same car having the same affair. Crash, Concrete Island, and High-Rise are as much a series as the disaster World books are. #christianbale

@Nova Terata: I knew that. I just thought it would be clever to have Bale play multiple Ballards. That, and the "Crash" name needs to be freed from its associations with a certain crappy motion picture and accompanying tv series #christianbale

I believe Vincenzo Natali has the rights to "High Rise" right now...

Bale in "Concrete Island" would be awesome...

it's an article on io9 about a male actor supposedly authored by meredith but where are the subtle sexual undertones; has meredith been replaced with an asexual alien cyborg?

Good post, Alasdair. It showed some teeth, really gave a nasty taste of what Ballard has to offer. I hope that this will attract some new readers.

The man may be gone, but his works shall continue to disgust and inspire generations to come.

    As it should be.

Mr. Ballard blew minds and twisted perspectives like few others. I am very glad for every page of his I ever read and look forward to sharing him with new readers.
