Would it have been too mentally taxing to add a spoiler alert? Leave it to IO9 to again bring down the overall level of online journalism and integrity.
As a fan of Star Trek, but not the Original series, I don't know what to make of this version. It seems promising, and I'm holding out for a great remake, but what about the fans? Seems like no matter what JJ does they're going to lampoon it.
@Jacks Bloated Payroll: a@Evlsushi: It also has a spoiler warning right at the end of the first paragraph, which is how we do things around hereabouts.
But I am somewhat apprehensive about finding out the Uhura character is going to be "naked" in one form or another. It seems exploitative.
Is this sort of thing getting old or am I getting older and more grumpy?
To me, Uhura, in just being on the show, was a victory in race relations. It just seems to belittle it in having the character this way or having it in the trailer (without any reason as if to say, "hey this flick might have boobies!!!") as "cheesecake" to sell the movie.
@GreyHammer: I love when people want to take away the core of a concept in order for them to like it. It's like when people want Superman to be darker. If you want a dark Superman, then you don't want Superman. And if you want a Star Trek that doesn't have an optimism about the future with all races coming together for a greater purpose, then guess what? You don't want Star Trek.

Nero changed everything by detroying the Kelvin.
Kirk's father couldn't help design Enterprise, thus Enterprise design changes and delay in commissioning.
Kirk's father dead, thus Kirk doesn't go into the Academy at sixteen, but later. Now Kirk's lost a few years head start on Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov.
Enterprise commision is delayed - April gets different assignment.
All of these changes to canon have a canon explanation- Nero went back in time and changed things.

Sounds like the young Dr. McCoy is being played by Boober Fraggle.
