I know that many people just HAVE to know exactly what things are and how they work... But I'm okay with not knowing. It would be nice to know, but I liked the rest of the story and can accept that it's a bit of a mystery. The secret to happiness with the BSG ending is agnosticism.
BSG had the potential to be the next "Star Trek"; to be the best scifi series of al time, and in seasons 1 and 2 it looked like that
then many writers left the show, there were massive arguments with the network, and it became apparent that *there truly was no "Plan" for the series*
Season 4 salvaged what it could, and most of the nightmarish problems in season 3 were fixed, save for the central one: You never actually knew what the heck you were doing or where the heck you were going, and resorted to cheap thrills and shock value....i.e. "Lets make 4 characters Cylons based on its shock value rather than its logical sense!"
The hype...oh the hype....I mean the way they constantly CONSTANTLY drummed it into us that "You will know the Truth"...WHAT TRUTH WAS THAT?!
The writers didn't know any more about what was going on than we did.
It was a mistake to ever trust Jane Espenson.
@CodenameV: Given a *whole season* though, they could have corrected s3's random make-shit-up plot a lot better.
I mean come on, they made Kara into more of a mess, not less.
Even at the eppisode before last they were still calling her the "harbinjer of death"
But no...exactly like s3 they continued with the unplanned shock-value rubbish.
("And then she finds her own body!!!!")
@PendensProditor: Too true. Didn't Ron Moore admit that he didn't know what the scenes of Lee chasing the pigeon represented - he just thought they looked pretty. To sum up the whole thing in two words: lazy writing.
On a side note, when Callis isn't being skeezey, skanky Baltar, he's a very attractive man.
