@mst3k4ever: As long as it doesn't jump the shark before my own Troilus and Cressida and Crab People" comes out, it's okay. Plus,it's such a great way to be a writer without actually doing much writing.
So okay, P&P&Z sold disgustingly well. There's always the hardcore Janeites and zombie fans, they were a given. Lots of casual readers bought it just for the novelty. Does anyone think sea monsters are a big enough draw to ensure the same success for this thing?
@OW-Holmes--Upset with Polling: The two styles clash too much. Tentacle face on the cover will probably attract Mythos devotees.
My queasiness is abetted with the knowledge that this stuff Quirk is doing will go the way of the Pet Rock or the singing plastic fish.
@Grey_Area: I'd have said it'd do fine, but then I noticed my local music/books and DVD store had it sat beside this, Vampyre and my heart sank - it's lost the twihards right there, I think.
these mashups are just to weird.guess when you run out of ideas might as well just ripoff a few sand put them together for something new................but old.
Oh, boo, publishing morons. It's painfully evident that the sea monster should've been saved for "Persuasion" -- a man goes to sea for seven years and comes back to pursue his love? Jackpot! Bad reviews of P&P&Z aside, this convinces me the author has no real feel for the original, such a rookie mistake.
S&S&Vampires, sure -- Edward's family constantly draining him and turning him into a wimp. Or Willoughby's a werewolf. But the kraken had an Austen opening, and it's not S&S.
@Zidel333: I'm sure there's going to be difficulty with Issac Asimov and Robert Graves' estates, but not as much as making 900 pages of stuttering binary into a compelling read.
Easiest using a title that already contains one "And". Next War and Peace and..."? Then we can move on to other conjunctions and consider the possibilities of prepositions.

As fiction I might actually want to ready though, not so much.

Are we talking metaphorically? If so, yes.
If not, yes.

It was simply wild, uninhibited cross-subspecies sex.
Seaweed leaves a nasty rash, FYI.
