I might be the biggest 2000AD/Dredd fan on here at io9, ive been reading 2000AD since 1984 and have every weekly/monthly/graphic novel/mug!! So i think its fair to say that my opinion on Dredd the movie is valid. I personally thought it was flawed but awesome all the same. The one thing that annoyed the hell out of me was my friend kept saying 'ohhh doesnt the city look like the city in fith element'....surely not!! Mega city is older in the comics than that or even..Blade Runner. Now Carlos Ezquira (a personal friend of mine for the last 4 years), who created Dredd always notes that Dredds apperance was designed around Clint Eastwood. Now depending how old they make dredd in the film..(yes he's a clone but he ages)..depends on the casting. Personally I think they should make him older, wiser and more hardened to the street. Thus Eastwood could play Dredd..how it was always meant to be! Maybe even the inclusion of Judge Death!!

@SutanukaAsclepius: You could be right. He referred to it as concept art on his blog post. But maybe it's concept art he made for fun. I sort of hope it's for the film, because it looks brilliant.
Wow. How'd I miss this news? A real Dredd movie. I haven't read much of Dredd, but I know the Hollywood one was Schumacher levels of insult to the classic character.
Just a note:. All these picks are tagged with the "Rebellion" Logo. Rebellion Developments is the video game company that produced the "Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death" video game in 2003.
Not to cast dispersion on the report, but could these simply be old concept art from the games development a few years back?
@The Lord Humungus: Yeah, but you never know who they'll cast this time around... I'm actually racking my brains to think who could be a good Dredd. Colin Ferguson? It has to be someone who's a real actor, but willing to keep the helmet on.
@Grrsn Dn: I think I missed the initial coverage... but I agree. It's stories like this, seemingly right out of left field, that keep my coming back too. This version, if the concept art reflects ANYTHING, will be several magnitudes better then Sylvester Stallone's greasy pork sausage of a film.

Just imagine Carrie Fisher's voice for a moment: "Aren't you a little short for a judge?"

Seriously. Can we please have a movie that hasn't already been made before? Or isn't a bastardized TV show?
