Oh that was wonderful. It went nicely with the headtrip that was Batman and Robin Meet Scooby-Doo. I saw that last night. Did you know that Batman bakes Bat-Cookies just in case random young people in distress need a snack?
As a filipino, this came out immediately before I moved to the US in 1993 when I was nine. I remember wanting to see this but never getting the chance.
It's really funny because I can actually understand the lyrics and words in Tagalog, at least when the audio is good enough.
Interesting bit of trivia, the guy who played the Joker, Rene Requiestas, died around the time this movie came out. It was his last film! Heath Ledger wasn't the first Joker film tragedy after all. Apparently died from tuberculosis exacerbated by alcohol and tobacco abuse.
@greasypigarvin: This was a pretty star studded affair in general. Most of the cast was A-list Filipino comedy talent at the time, kinda like the recent Year One.
@crashedpc : ゴキブリ and 蟑螂 division: Probably. He had become famous as the sidekick of the guy playing Batman, Joey De Leon, and Requiestas was known for playing the grungy, loony, and scrawny/ugly gross-out type.
I'm trying to think of a good American analogue, but such broad comedy hasn't been in fashion for a while... reminds me of some of Dave Chappelle's characters.
@iam118: When I first saw that, I thought "Oh god! I've had a stroke! The language center of my brain! It's gone! I can't understand English anymore!" Then I just sort of settled back and enjoyed it.
@cletar: I feel bad for pointing out that it's not ewok, it's Tagalog. And I understand most of it. It's mostly really silly; and not understanding any of it doesn't hamper that.
@Ceiling90: It makes me sad that this was disemvowled because it points out how few people have any idea what Tagalog is. I speak some and was highly amused at the comment, FWIW.
BTW, does anyone else HATE this new comment system?
"Curse that Batman I'll never find his secret hiding place!!!"
"Um, what about that giant Batman face shaped garage door in the side of the mountain, you could start there."

It's nice to see that the joker actor really threw himself into the role.
I think.
