@cadrina: By the Power of GreySkull!. Just when I think that it could not get any gayer, I am proven wrong.
You know, the fact that I owned He-Man dolls and watched this cartoon show and was not turned gay pretty much shoots the whole idea that you can be "turned" gay to hell. If He-Man couldn't do it, I can't see what in the world would.
Then again, I do watch "Project Runway" with my wife, so maybe it had some kind of effect......

@Belabras ate my dingo!: Lol. Yeah - I came across my old He-Man dolls a few years back and was astonished that they did not turn me gay. The entire concept is ultra-gay. It's the Village People meets Siegfried & Roy meets Robert Mapplethorpe. Didn't somebody have a whip as a weapon?
I'm just...I'm just not really thinking this will work as a feature film, and I guess I never got into He-Man enough to care. Maybe this one should stay in development hell, or are there people really wanting to see this?
I said it on the other thread last week and I'll say it again...
Wonder Woman is an ambassador of peace to the "world of men" from a warrior matriarchal republic, sent to impart her feminine leadership and wisdom either by diplomacy or force. If you can read that sentence and not see the potential for an excellent film deconstructing myths of feminine inferiority AND superiority, the War on Terror's underlying reliance on "the myth of redemptive violence", and the place of sexiness in the feminist spectrum, then you got no damn imagination. Or you don't want icky girls in the clubhouse.
There is no reason to make a WW movie. She's a dull character, and until that changes, she'll be recreated by some Hollywood types into whatever they want her to be. Another Spirit, anyone?
How would they translate the costume to the screen and still make it respectable enough for her to kick ass in?
Honestly, I'd be concerned. I've never seen a version of the character where I thought, "Yeah, that makes sense for a woman to expect to be taken seriously while wearing."
If college girls the world over dress as a slutty version for Halloween, it's probably going to be a hard costume to translate.
@AldoraGreel:
Body paint? sorry, but can't really think how you can modernize her costume. Every time I think about this, thong came to my mind and not that oldie granma underwear she wears as her costume. This movie shouldn't be made. They should do a pilot TV show and see if anyone cares about it first. DC comic really is running out of super hero it can use beside Superman and Batman. Green Lantern movie will turn out like Man in Black on crack with green light and yellow light, etc. WW with Amazonian warrior with mythology background won't make a good movie. Just do a new IP and leave WW in peace.
@HowIsYourFlat: "DC comic really is running out of super hero it can use beside Superman and Batman."
We'll grant that Jonah Hex, Deadman and Green Lantern are already being made, along with all the buzz around a possible Wonder Woman.
That leaves, as viable properties: Plastic Man, The Question, Sandman (either version), Preacher, Green Arrow, The Flash, Blackhawk, Enemy Ace, Doom Patrol, Aquaman, Zatanna, Hawkworld, Captain Marvel, Transmetropolitan, Fables, Black Orchid, New Gods, Firestorm, The Shield, and more than I can think of off the top of my head... Not to mention adaptations of specific comics, like a Kingdom Come or Justice.
DC has an undeniable wealth of material to work from assuming they put it in the right hands and build them up into watchable movie events.
@Cory Gross: Doom Patrol has the potential to make an awesome movie with a much different plot than the comics have had. Get more in touch with its steampunk side, avoid any cutesy humor, and amp up the special effects. "Doom Patrol" alone is a great title for a movie that most people have never heard of.
Zatanna and Black Orchid are my runners up.
@biffpow:
I'd love a traditional Doom Patrol movie (that is, not the Morrison version, which, although brilliant, is, er, a little much for a movie audience) or the Challengers Of the Unknown (seriously, those are both great titles), but I don't see Doom Patrol as Steampunk. I would coin a new term, Jetpunk, which is basically the version of the 60s that we all wished were true. Essentially my beloved Venture Bros.
I would like to see Joss whedon`s take on wonder woman . Joel silver thinks he knows it all . They should have stopped with the matrix series after 1 .
@disatess:
And again, what was he supposed to do when the Wachowskis came to him with the ideas for sequels? Said "no, I have too much integrity to ruin the first one?" Seriously, they wrote and directed them. Blame them.
@Wookie1972: Nope I want Nathan Fillion to reprise the role as he played it in The WW animated feature, which like the Green Lantern animated film I hope they use for a template as it was a pretty decent retelling of the origin. Doesn't have to follow it exactly just the flow of it.
@Dedpool3678:
Yeah, Fillion would be fine. I just didn't want to suggest him because he already did the animated feature. But I really want Emily Deschanel to play Diana.
