But more than that, they take us inside Terry Gilliam's beautifully surreal mindscape.

In Gilliam's film, the ancient and immortal Dr. Parnassus travels with a troupe of entertainers, including his teenage daughter Valentina. One of their attractions is the Imaginarium, a mystical mirror that transports people to a realm of imagination. But all is not well for the troupe; Parnassus long ago pledge any child he had to the Devil, and the time on their deal will soon be up. As the clock ticks down, Tony, a mysterious stranger, wanders into their midst.

Here, we meet Heath Ledger's Tony for the first time:

Parnassus helps the amnesiac Tony jog his memory:

A young carnival-goer takes a candy-coated jaunt through the Imagniarium:

Tony, now played by Colin Farrell, enjoys a romantic boat ride with Valentina:

And now Jude Law gets his turn as Tony, climbing a literal ladder to success:

And finally Johnny Depp plays Tony, although here he calls himself Barry:

And in non-Tony-related business, we get Dr. Parnassus' first meeting with the Devil:

And another meeting, during which Dr. Parnassus, who has agreed to give up any child he has in exchange for immortality, makes a new deal with the Devil:

<![CDATA[Johnny Depp Is Not In The Next Nolan Batman, Sorry]]> Check your Johnny Depp Riddler dreams at the door: there will be no Depp in the next Batman film. So says the man that helped fuel those rumors, Michael Caine.

MTV sat down with Michael Caine and asked him what happened to the Philip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp rumors that he'd helped start a while back. Sadly, Caine filled us all in that not only did he get in trouble but there's "nobody, there's no script there's nothing." And we most likely have a long wait ahead of us with Inception being Nolan's number one priority right now. But most importantly,

"Johnny Depp is great in anything, but there is no Johnny Depp in this Batman," he smiled. "They tell me in no uncertain terms."

Here's the full video interview...

<![CDATA[The Latest Doctor Parnassus Trailer Shows The New Faces Of Heath Ledger's Tony]]> New The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus trailer shows the first new faces for Tony, who had to be recast after Heath Ledger's sad passing, so actors Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all stepped up.

First off it looks like we're getting extra helpings of Terry Gilliam's demented psychedelic world, and a whole lotta wire-work. Let's keep our fingers crossed for Gilliam's success, so we can possibly get more than one Gilliam movie every five years.

Here's the wild synopsis:

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr Nick. Valentina is now rapidly approaching this 'coming of age' milestone and Dr Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter's hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles - and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all...

Doctor Parnassus will be out October 16th.

<![CDATA[Tim Burton Confirms Dark Shadows. Vampire Johnny Depp?]]> Tim Burton has confirmed that his next project will be remaking ABC's vampire soap Dark Shadows, whose rights are rumored to belong to Johnny Depp. This could mean we'll finally see our Johnny Depp vampire dreams come true.

At the Alice In Wonderland press conference, people cornered Burton about his next rumored movie project Dark Shadows, the vampire soap opera that aired on ABC.

When asked if he had plans to pursue the movie adaptation of Dark Shadows and bring the infamous Barnabas Collins back to life his response was:

Yeah if I ever finish this one here [Alice in Wonderland]. It's hard to think beyond this at the minute but yeah that's the plan.

The rights to the show's rights were optioned by Infinitum-Nihil, which is Johnny Depp's production company. This can only mean one thing: Edward has some gigantic competition. Burton and Depp do everything together lately, there's no reason we shouldn't start assuming the same. Depp as a vampire — is there anything more ridiculous and wonderful at the same time?

<![CDATA[Can Tim Burton Convert Over 1000 Hours of TV into One "Dark Shadows" Movie?]]> One of the weirdest soaps ever to hit the airwaves is Dark Shadows, a late-1960s daily story that spent 6 months as a typical gothic melodrama and then surprised viewers by abruptly introducing ghosts, ancient gods, a sexy vamp named Barnabas (pictured), time travel, and parallel universes. Dan Curtis' iconic series aired for 5 years on ABC, racking up almost 1100 hours of television packed with monstery goodness. And now Tim Burton is set to make a movie version of it, with Johnny Depp as Barnabas. Can it really be done?

The soap-opera lovers over at Collider yesterday managed to get producer Richard D. Zanuck to confirm that Dark Shadows is Burton's next project, filming next year in England. Depp, who owns the rights to the series, has said many times that his greatest fantasy as a kid was to become Barnabas.

But how will the team that brought you Sweeney Todd manage to cut down all that TV into a digestible chunk? Obviously they'll have to choose one of the mini-arcs from the show to focus on (let's hope it's from the sequence where Barnabas travels back in time to an alternate nineteenth century). Or maybe they'll just come up with a brand-new plot arc involving Barnabas. That might be the best way to go, with just a few nods to the original thrown in for die-hard fans.

More importantly, will audiences go for it? By the time this movie comes out, everybody may be suffering from vampire fatigue. Probably the second Twilight movie will be in theaters, and HBO's True Blood will have cornered the market on smart-sexy vamp action. Burton will also be competing with another gothic, old-school vampire tale: Mike "Hellboy" Mignola's Baltimore, directed by David "Dark Knight" Goyer.

Previous attempts to reawaken the sleeping show have also been unsuccessful. When Curtis rebooted the series in the early 1990s as a weekly tale of the supernatural on NBC, it was canceled after just a few months. A 2004 pilot for a WB version of the show was never picked up.

But let's not get gloomy about this. There's plenty of room for more vampire stories, and Dark Shadows isn't just vamp-focused anyway. It's more like The Supernatural, ranging from tales of ghosts to alternate realities. And let's face it: This story was pretty much made for Burton, who is the master of dark camp.
